  1. Thanks Lee and Richard for the perspective and encouraging words. I'll probably be feeling anxious again in a few hours, but I appreciate it. :)

Not sure if this will help or hurt, but I just called the Department of State. They just said that it is standard processing and some people are randomly selected for it or there was a name hit in one of their databases etc. The lady was nice and she said it should probably be cleared up at the end of July, but that is just an estimate and not a guarantee. At least its something.

    Thanks, Lee!

  2. Stuck at NVC since June 25. When I called today, they admitted it was undergoing additional processing. I'm feeling really anxious imagining that it would take several more weeks, when I was expecting the process to go alot faster after NOA2.

    Welcome !

Oh I know what you mean ..I was totally beside myself over this. Anxious ..oh yes! All I wanted to know was why?!?

On the up side, times for this are going down, so you may be out soon! ..and it does end!

Thanks, I know in my head that it hasn't been that long, but it's just the thought that it could be way longer that I keep dwelling on.

  3. Just called NVC. They still have the case. I started tearing up and asking if there was anything more he could tell me. "I understand. This is our own internal processing, I wouldn't worry about it, but I don't have a timeline for when it will be complete." It just seems like it's come to a dead halt. I just want to at least have an interview scheduled so that we can begin planning logistics of things.

  4. Liz, my parents live in Texas and they've been saying the same thing. DC has been usually cool, and I feel bad telling them so!

Lee, I feel ya. I just called NVC and the lady said our application was undergoing "additional processing" and "we have no timeframe for that." It's the first time they've actually said additional processing versus under review. Everyone says the process flies after NOA2, but that seems a bit hollow to me right now.

  5. gatoula_tou I think that would be fine to fill in for that section of the I-134. Especially if you are having a co-sponsor.

Derek I am with you on not caring what people think, but at the same time I am not going to walk into a hornets nest either. Plus I don't know Paris just doesn't hold any interest for me. Thats why I really like the Paris hotel in Vegas. It's a compromise that we can both live with. She gets to kind of experience Paris minus the French people. Plus their Eifel Tower is half the size of the original. Not too shabby if you ask me. I get to be in Vegas again. WooHoo.

Roman my man. Has going to bed each day gotten just a little bit more difficult as the interview grows closer? I have a feeling my heart is going to start racing once the interview is scheduled for us. By the day before the interview I won't be able to sleep. I hope that isn't the case for you.

Lee you are right (kind of). I am extremely excited, but on the other hand I am trying to finish up most of my work (before I take 2 weeks vacation) when Marina gets here. Plus shopping for our new place is a B*TCH and tiring. So when I get home, I am sooooo tired that I pass out aroud 9 or 10 pm.

P.S. Money spent on furniture so far $7600. NOT CHEAP AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pardon me for jumping in here on your conversation  and I think it is WONDERFUL that you are buying all this stuff to make you love feel comfortable, but I was just wondering why you made the decision to buy it now, and not wait till she gets here so she can pick it out and really feel like it's her home. I'm just curious why you made that decision and not trying to tell you that you did anything wrong (again, I think it's GREAT!!). I'm trying to figure things out for myself as well...do I want to buy before he gets here or after?

I think that's an interesting question. I keep thinking: I need to get a new dresser, new bed, etc. And then I remember each time to wait until he can help me carry and set up that stuff. It's kind of frustrating b/c I do want to get some things out of the way, but I don't know what!

  6. This is a test of the blue question mark...

Hmm. Let me think of a progress report question. Any updates from the people waiting to hear from NVC? How many days has it been since you recieved your NOA2 and was it e-mailed or snail mailed?

We were approved on June 23. NVC received June 25. We got the letter confirming their receipt, dated June 30 or July 1. They still have the petition. :(

  7. So, some venting.

Our application is still at NVC. When I just called, she said, "it's still under review. It's not unusual, but call every couple of days." And I thanked her and started to ask about the average processing time (curious as to what they're trained to say versus what's reported online, etc) and she's HUNG up on me! Boo for her.

Also, can I say that the automated voice when you call NVC has a voice that I find very annoying! Anyone else notice that?

Why do some reviews take longer than others? Any particular reason or is it similar to USCIS, where there's little rhyme or reason. Neither of us have a particularly common name. He did live here for 4 years...Has anyone else found that that slows things down? Possibly just bad luck.

For those whose appls are already at Embassy, how long did it take at NVC? I know it hasn't been THAT long, but I just want to hear that it's been sent already!

  8. Guatemala Emb requires two years tax info. I ordered transcripts from IRS (received within a week or so) for 2007 and 2008, and then went to TurboTax and TaxACT to get a copy of the file (with this I included other supporting evidence, like student loan interest paid form and I think W2s, as well). You can do either transcripts or return, but I went overboard and did both. (not necessary, I realize) SO will have to bring a lot of paper back with him.

  9. Hi everyone,

Thanks for the congrats! It's exciting. I called NVC last night, and they said they have the petition and that "probably within, well, yeah, probably in about 2 weeks, I'd say) they'll be forwarding it on to embassy. Hopefully, that was conservative estimate.

I have a question--do we need to send NOA2 hardcopy to SOs for interview? He already has I-134, employer letter, fiance letters, etc in hardcopy, so it would be the only thing I'd have to physically mail him. I'm hoping that scanning/emailing is okay.

I'm happy to see that so many have interview dates within the next few months!!! Good luck to all.

  10. no no, you don't have to apply again THE only way you would have to apply again is if it is revoked, but that won't happen. He should be in the United States before October 6 if you are saying the interview is in September, but if the embassy needs to do some more processing, they will extend the visa time frame. Don't worry girl, once the interview is successfully completed, he will be here before October 6

The October 6 date doesn't matter once he has the visa. It's then the 6 month from visa-issue date that matters.

  11. There are several time frames. The date on the NOA2 is for the interview. Once approved you get 6 months to move. Once you set foot on american soil you get 90 days to marry. Once married I think you 90 days to Adjust status. But if you get married after the first week you still have to adjust status in 90 days. So married at the 90 day mark and AOS with in 90 days is 180 days but if married after 1 week then AOS with in 90 days is 90 day 1 week. make sense?

This is my understanding as well. No, Maire, you won't have to repeat I129F process!

Lee, I hope for your and your roommate's sake that it's there today!

  12. Maire,

I think the NOA2 exp date just means that he must have interview for visa before then. And like someone else said, if they don't schedule interview before that, they'll do automatic extension. Does this sound right to others? Once you have the visa, the 6 month clock starts.

So, who all have interview dates already? Very exciting! Still back here waiting for NOA2. :(

  13. They seem to be for the most part pretty accurate. I am now within the timeframe for mine and I am expecting any day now. Obviously they are not entirely perfect, but for the vast majority of people they have been spot on.

I was within the timeframe for mine last week, and then this weekend I wasn't, and now I am again. I'm hoping now that it doesn't change again and that it's accurate! If so, I could have it within the next week. I really thought it would come last week when my SO was visiting, but hey, I guess managed expectations are better when dealing with this stuff.

Managed expectations would be an understatement. It really is a pain in the backside, but it is out of our control so might as well try and be positive and know that it is coming. Look on the brightside you got to see your SO last week. I am jealous of you for that, but in a good way.

Yeah, I think I've been fairly patient since we filed b/c I knew there was nothing to do but wait. But, now that he was here and part of my life here for a bit, I'm over being patient.
