Hi Liz,
I saw the post you wrote a page back and wanted to ask you questions about taxes too. I read the threads about how we can elect to claim resident status for Arturo even though he doesn't meet the two tests as long as we report worldwide income. It's the reporting worldwide income that confuses me. I'm using TaxACT and the form that I can find is form 2555EZ, which is Foreign Income Exclusion. When I fill that out, it subtracts his foreign income from mine, so it changes our overall income. That doesn't seem right to me, though. I'm just supposed to report the income, right? Not have it excluded?
I've only been filing taxes for a few years and never filed paper taxes, so I'm not really sure if I have to go back and do it all by hand now. Any advice you can offer?
Thanks and good luck at the weigh in!

Nice to see you again... and congratulations on the greencard... and without the interview! Yippie... something went better than expected for once
Yeah, I know. It feels like it went too smoothly-a bit surreal. But, I'm very happy and grateful.

Just wanted to say hi and let everyone know that I received an email today that production of Arturo's greencard was ordred! It was transfered to CSC, so we didn't even have an interview.
Hope everyone is doing well.
Lee, hope you're reunited with your fam soon!

Hi everyone, we got email notices toward the end of December that AP and EAD were approved. Received the hard copies of both last week. Now it's on to finding the job! Good luck to everyone still waiting and to almost all of us for the GC.
-
We also got an email yesterday that our case was tranfered to CSC. Nice to have some news at least.

Congrats Richard and Family!
Lee, I hope things warm up quickly for you!

Hi Everyone,
We haven't had any more news from USCIS since the biometrics last Dec 1 (I see we had a touch on Dec 2). No RFEs, so I'm hoping we hear something (either way) soon...
-
Hey Derek, it looks like we both have our biometrics appt today! Good luck! (Hmm..don't know if that's an appropriate term when one's being fingerprinted, but you know what I mean )
-
Just received hard copy of my NOA1s! yey
Awesome, congrats!
Hey everyone! My husband has his biometrics today.
-
Thanks Lee... I have so many I haven't even gone through them all yet... Maria wants to take pictures of everything, I mean EVERYTHING! ... Be prepared for that!!!
Very nice pictures, Derek. You all look really happy.
Richard, congrats!!

Awww, that sucks Chelsea!! Hopefully they won't stay all day!
I KNOW!. How dare they come to work when I don't want them here.

There are usually about 12 of us in the office. One person just walked in, but someone I was hoping would be out. I'm now officially bummed.
I'm a vegetarian, so I'm trying to think of a time when it would make sense to order that much meat. Maybe we could have a Turducken at the wedding part 2 next spring. Though everyone would fall asleep after we ate!

Liz, this one has a lot of good recipes...http://allrecipes.com/features/holidays/thanksgiving/2009.aspx
We're having a quiet Thanksgiving with just the two of us. Arturo prepared two of the dishes yesterday, which is awesome!
I just saw the posts about Turducken, and I have to say that Arturo has been in love with the idea ever since he first heard of it 3 or 4 years ago. I saw the link and that site says it feeds about 30 people or something!
Lee, about the laptop gift. I think that's a great idea, especially if it'll make it easier for y'all to talk.
I actually think I'm going to be the only one in my office today. I found out yesterday that almost everyone I work with is taking today off. I'm just assuming that the rest are as well. It's 9:30 and noone else is here yet... It's nice and quiet!
-
LOL...ok, I guess I can see why you don't have a facebook page...hehe! I'll try to post a few more on here once I get them all in and sorted.
I'm glad you have somewhere to go for Thanksgiving.....I don't want to hear you were sitting home alone!
As for us, we'll be cooking dinner that day....it'll just be me, Pat and Diane, our friend from Holland. It'll be the first thanksgiving either of them have ever had so it should be fun!
Hi Liz,
Congrats! Very lovely photos. I wish you many happy years together!

Hi everyone, we got our biometrics appt for Dec 1!
-
We filed today!! Good luck to us all.
Good luck to you too!
Thanks everyone for the wishes of a smooth and fast AOS.

Hi everyone,
Carlos: congrats! The pictures were great.
Our ceremony was also really quick. Probably less than 5 minutes. And at the end, the officiant said, "By the power vested in me by the Congress of the United States." I thought that was really funny and almost started laughing. I guess b/c it's DC and not actually a state.
-
I sent it last week to Chicago. They got it on friday and I have not received the NOA 1 yet.
Ill keep you posted!
FYI- we sent our AOS packet on Friday, it was delivered on Sunday (?!) and haven't received NOA1 and no cashed check yet.
-
We mailed it on October 30, and it was delivered on November 1.

Hey folks,
So I am having some issues with I-693 part 2, the famous vaccination records. I am trying to file for adjustment of status and need to get my I-693 certified by a doctor. However, I don't really have any real proof that I have had all the vaccines. I had a full medical test in Guatemala for the K-1 visa process by a certified doctor. I took my results in a sealed envelope to the embassy and obtained my K-1 Visa without any problems. However, I never received a copy of my medical report and I didn't get one myself because they told me not to open the sealed envelope. So now I am supposed to have a doctor transcribe my vaccination record into a I-693 but the problem is that I have no proof of what my vaccination record is. Has anyone faced the same situation, did you come up with some agreeable solution? I would appreciate anyone's input as to how I should proceed. Thanks for the help.
Arturo

Thanks, Liz! I'll do some more research and try to figure it out. Or maybe I'll have to go to someone.
