  1. I know it's not a cut. That's what I'm saying. It's totally healed, it is now your print. If it was a cut still then prints would be rejected and they'd make you come back once the cut was healed (if you were doing visa stuff). As it's fully healed then it's not a problem. If it makes you feel better though by all means get the certificate. The rest of your fingers are fine though so it's not as "suspicious"

    Ok, thanks.

  2. It doesn't matter. The reason being, what your thumb is, IS your print now. If you had a cut then there would be a problem because once the cut heals the print usually returns to normal (depending on how deep the cut is).

    Don't worry :)

Thank you. But it's not just a cut, the upper portion of my thumb was cut-off/amputated. The surgeon moved some of the flesh to cover the tip. Would it be best if I just get a Dr's certificate?

  3. I had a thumb amputation on my right hand, almost half of my thumb print is already messed up, had that accident at work here in US. Is it gonna make problem/s on the immigration when I go to the airport(planning for a vacation in the Philippines) or other immigration purposes like applying for citizenship (greencard holder here)? If so, what's the best thing to do? Should I request/get a doctors certificate that I had surgery? Does it matter?

  4. What if i'm an LPR for almost 5months, can i marry in the philippines and petition my wife in the philippines? how long does it take? what is the visa type/category?

You can change your name any time you want. Have you considered US citizenship so your husband can get here faster?

    Diana

How is this? how long does it take to be a us citizen? by naturalization? or by application? if i became a us citizen, how long does it take to wait for my wife in the us?

    Thanks

Since you have only been an LPR for 5 months and will be getting married in PI, you obviously did not get the GC through marriage to a USC which puts you in the 5yr LPR before aplying for citizenship category. You can apply for citizenship 90 days (which does not equal 3 months) before the 5yr LPR anniversary of your GC. Read the M-476 guide for naturalization.

You will submit an I-130 which will be approved but visa number will not become available for another 5 years - so just about the time you become a USC.

which is one is more faster:

as an LPR, if i petition my wife now, how long does it take?

or wait for 5 yrs to become a us citizen, and file petition?

  6. finally, i got scheduled on June 22, 2009 at 6:30am US Embassy Manila. whew! wish me luck! should i have a medical now?

    thanks

when was your case completed? Yes you can take your medical - just bring the original copy of NOA2

case completed April 24, 2009. The notice i got was from my agents email, he just forwarded the notice (stating my date of interview and other details) and printed it. is this valid as an original copy?

since my interview is on June 22, when is the best time to have a medical exam? Should I just go to the desired clinic(st.lukes) and present the printed letter together with my passport and picture?

    thanks

  7. June 22 is also my interview date!

    I have few questions.

the letter I got from the NVC follows:

    * The ff. lists the documents requested by the NVC and whether or not the NVC received them.

Please note that even though the applicant may have provided the NVC with a copy of a document, the applicant is still required to bring the original to the visa interview:

    DS 230 I & II - Y

    Birth Certficate - O

    Financial Evidence - Y

    Police Certificate - O

    Petitioner Birth Certificate - F

    Legend:

Y - The required document has been received and accepted

O - The original document has been received and accepted as meeting post requirements.

F - This form is not necessary for this application

Do I still need to bring another original copy of DS230, Birth Certficate, Financial Evidence, Police Certificate? since we all know that they are sent to NVC during the process..

Aside from my passport, medical and 2x2 pictures to bring during the interview(including the letter they sent), any other particular docs/materials? Can i also bring our family pix(with me and my petitioner)? as supporting documents, 'Coz I was told that DNA testing is required too...

    thanks

  8. i forgot to add the 1st line. *

    Hey Congratulations jhun,

Yep, do the medical. My wife did hers with just the NOA2. We are just in a holding pattern for the interview too. Good luck.

    Thanks

so, i will contact the designated clinic for my appointment?

I have another question, the letter I got from the NVC follows:

  10. Pardon my ignorance but when we got a letter from NVC, they require us to submit original documents/certified true copies. I guess its a case to case basis huh? im under F2A - family based category.

    This link might help:

    http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3195.html

    Original Document Requirements

The applicant and each family member who will accompany the applicant to the United States will need to submit original documents or certified copies of the documents listed in this section from an appropriate authority (the issuing entity).

    Photocopy Requirement

In addition to sending the original documents or certified copies of the documents to the NVC, the applicant and each accompanying family member must submit a photocopy of the original documents or certified copies of the documents.

  11. The DHHS sets the poverty guidelines that also are part of whether someone qualifies for federal assistance. My gut response, is if anyone qualifies for a federal program, they are at or below the poverty line and therefore wouldn't be a good candidate as a petitioner. If the petitioner themselve is already a public charge, then it goes without saying they can't afford to sponsor a beneficiary. The whole purpose behind completing an affidavit of support is to prove not only do you have income above 125 % but that the beneficiary doesn't become a public charge.

but there is a co-sponsor, will that suffice?

  12. it's ok.

they'll send you a checklist of the missing documents. you can send it to them if you completed all. you just need to submit that ASAP.

I know I need to submit it ASAP, but it's going to take 2-3 months to receive it which is why I wanted to know, instead of giving it to NVC, can we present them at the interview? Will the case be closed without them? Can we send a letter along with the DS-230 letting NVC know that the rest of the documents will be provided during the interview?

AFAIK, you won't receive an interview appointment if all the required documents wasn't submitted.

  13. This was based on my previous post:
