  1. Some places have additional steps.

    - Ouch - Guess I should be greateful for the little things then :P

    - Heres a question or suggestion - in these posts/threads, is there a way to make the newest always show up first instead of having to go to the last page first and working your way back ? If not, theres an Idea for VJ :D

click on the orange box beside the title of the thread.. it will bring you to your last unread post

Ohhhh, Cool thank you, how did you pull that up?

  4. I guess I misunderstood when you said "marry" - I thought you meant Canadian red tape made it difficult for you to get married. I guess I will continue to misunderstand as Canada, UK are some of the easiest consulates to go through (barring complicated cases). The process is a pain though.

Well I guess my question is, more along the lines of... If I had met and fell in love with someone from the UK for example... would we have to go through the same red tape as USA ?

yeah everyone around the world has to go through the same red tape....

Ahh ok, that answers that question.. Thank you :D

  6. I definitely hear what you're saying Amazon, but I think that looking at the big picture too much in this process can actually do more harm than good.

Obviously it's necessary to know what's coming (or may be coming) so that you can prepare, but I think to keep your sanity it's sometimes necessary to put the blinders on and not try to look too far ahead--just focus on what's in front of your face. That's what I tell myself anyhow. There are always a million little things that can go wrong in this long, multi-step process. But every step that you pass takes a few of those things off the list, you know? The NOA2 has come in, so you know that you've at least filled out the paperwork well enough to get approved. It might not seem like much, but I hear those RFEs can draw things out at that level, so if you're past that I'd say that's reason to celebrate a little bit.

LOL true :P , I suppose, going in baby steps will help maintain sanity :jest:

  7. I see so many people extremely happy and overly delighted with the NOA2 / K1 Approval, and Congrats :star: to all those who have been approved  . However, it seems to be, a bit early to be getting excited, Yes the long wait is over, for the most part, but there is still so much more to this whole process, that I find I am still stressing out. Yes fine the K1 is approved, but there is still MORE paper work to be filed, more waiting, a Medical and blood test that you have to pass, and an interview and yet more paper work. :ranting:

I don't want to burst anyones bubble, trust me, I would love to be overjoyed with my approval, but all I can think about is what can go wrong with the rest of the process :crying:

Am I the only one that feels this way ?

  8. Ok, I have searched and search the forums for the right place to ask this, and dont really find anything that fits, so please forgive me if this isnt the perfect place to post :).

    :jest:

    - Ok, so we received my NOA2 - Approved via regular mail a couple of days ago, what exactly do we do now? just wait for packet 3 ? any idea how long roughly that usually takes? Or do I need to call the consolate near me to find out if they got it?

    :help:

    - The site for status doesnt even say they sent the NOA2 yet, so I'm not relying on that. <_<

you'll receive a letter from nvc telling you that they have received your petition and will be forwarding it onto the relevant consulate. you can call nvc after about a week of having your noa2 to check that they have received it and when it left for the consulate.

for processing times at the embassy you can check here: http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/stats.php

if you scroll down to canada or further to montreal/vancouver you can see estimates for the processing time. :)

    Thank you :goofy:

  10. I have never received a e-mail from USCIS and my case is still showing as pending for months even though I got my NOA" months ago and have sent back packet 3 and waiting for my interview.

I personally think that you can not rely on receiving anything by e-mail from them and cant even trust your case status as they dont always update it.

Yeah its definitely not reliable, but I did receive a couple of emails from them for various status, such as Received and pending, sent out RFE, received RFE, but thats pretty much where is stops. But at least its not the other way around  , email says you got something, when you didn't

  11. If u have registered ur email with UScis, yes , they will E-mail u before they send out NO1 or NO2

theoretically, however the online system is not without its flaws.... I received hardcopy NOA2 about two weeks before the e-mail. No chance of an e-mail for NOA1 either....

Same here, we just recieved our NOA2 but the website still says they received the RFE and processing has resumed.

  12. They would send you another RFE for further information, if it is required. Dont worry you aren't over reacting, this process is stressful.

Comply with the RFE sent to you and submit the information that they have requested immediately. Do read the guides, they are helpful and will help with the next part of the process. But more importantly read ANY guidance given to you on the forms. And as puskbrk would say "interpret literally"

They wont outright deny you for not sending in information, but if you dot submit the information required you will continue to get RFE's and this will slow up the process.

Scout around, there is a wealth of information on this site. And breath!!!!.....:)

    Thank you :star:

  13. What you need is....

    B. Provide original statements from you and your fiancé(e)whom you plan to marry within 90 days of his or her admission, and copies of any evidence you wish to submit to establish your mutual intent;

If you can provide the two letters, you are "engaged" for immigration purposes.

OMG! Now I'm even more stressed!

I do like this site and it provides SO MUCH information, but I found this site well after the fact and now I find there are so many things we missed!.

    - We have already had one RFE, and I didnt include the letter stating we were engaged and plan to marry, and I'm pretty sure my fiance didnt either. Have they ever sent TWO RFE's? or will they just deny it outright ?

I cant believe this whole process is so stressful and the fact that the government sites say include form A. thats it. when in actuallity what they want is form A-Z PLUS forms 1-5. Then they hold it against you for not supplying them the information they want.

    - Ok, now that I have ranted on, back to the topic at hand. If we dont get denied right away, it will be ok to bring the letters of intent to marry to the interview right?

Please tell me Im over reacting :crying:

  14. Current Status: Response to request for evidence received, and case processing has resumed.

On January 6, 2009, we received your response to our request for evidence. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service. You should expect to receive a written decision or written update within 60 days of the date we received your response unless fingerprint processing or an interview are standard parts of case processing and have not yet been completed, in which case you can use our processing dates to estimate when this case will be done. This case is at our CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER location. Follow the link below to check processing dates. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

Is the 60 day thing a standard procedure? Or does it vary case by case or according to what the RFE was sent for?

    - We had an RFE also, like the person who first started this forum, we did not send in all the things listed on VJ only the information listed on the Embasy site, and once we gathered all the information and sent it in, we got the exact same notification. That they would notify us in 60 days of the date they recieved the infomation.

    - I had only found VJ recently and now, reading on the wealth of information here, I am kind of dreading the fact that I may have to wait 60 more days for them to hit me with another RFE.

  15. Yes and No..

I am not really near either Montreal or Vancouver and I do see a consulate mentioned in Toronto. Why do I not see anyone posting that they are dealing with Toronto, for K1. They have a medical examiner and their site does, show that they do Visas.

I am New and Still confused.

Also - I'm the "Beneficiary" so things are coming from a different angle than most, which I guess makes it more confusing for me.

    Any Help is appreciated.
