  1. Just wanted to ask everyone how they met :)

And I guess I should start off with mine :D

My Fiance and I met on the online game World of Warcraft in the summer of 2007 in true nerd fashion :D We then talked online for awhile and he flew up in May 2008 to meet me and we recently decided to apply for the I-129F visa which we will be doing very shortly :) I am from Alberta, and he is from Washington state.

OMG ME TOO!! , only differences are it was the spring of 2007 and I flew down there in April 2008. And I am in Ontario.. other than that.... OHHH SNAP!..LOL :D

  2. Hey im sorry to those who have already answered this question, but i'm working really long hours at the moment and I couldnt find the answer I was looking for so I'll ask myself.

I have just recieved packet 3 (whooo hooo!) but when I went to the US Consulate page for instructions I became confused. It says

    "Document requirements

Please obtain original documents or certified copies from an appropriate authority, for yourself and all unmarried children under 21 years of age who will accompany you to the United States. All documents that relate to your petition are required, even if they were previously submitted to USCIS with your petition."

Am I supposed to get the forms I sent to USCIS back? I dont understand why they need them, or even why I am supposed to have them...

I am also confused as step three is...

"When you have obtained all of the documents required for your case, complete and mail all of your documents (do not fax or scan) with DSL-1076 to advise the U.S. Consulate General in Sydney that you are ready for your final visa."

    and step four is...

"When you have gathered all documentation, complete and mail the DSL-1076 form to the U.S. Consulate General, Sydney. That office will contact you with your visa interview time. Please do not fax forms DS-230 Part I and DSL-1076, the originals must be mailed."

Do they want me to send the DSL-1076 twice?

Sorry to be a bother but any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    :time:

I would answer your question if I could, but I am still waiting for my packet 3 :).

Best of Luck to you and yours (F)

  3. I see so many people extremely happy and overly delighted with the NOA2 / K1 Approval, and Congrats :star: to all those who have been approved  . However, it seems to be, a bit early to be getting excited, Yes the long wait is over, for the most part, but there is still so much more to this whole process, that I find I am still stressing out. Yes fine the K1 is approved, but there is still MORE paper work to be filed, more waiting, a Medical and blood test that you have to pass, and an interview and yet more paper work. :ranting:

I don't want to burst anyones bubble, trust me, I would love to be overjoyed with my approval, but all I can think about is what can go wrong with the rest of the process :crying:

Am I the only one that feels this way ?

Even looked at as a whole, it really ain't all that bad from here on out. The paperwork seems like there's a lot, but there really isn't that much in the grand scheme of things. The only thing that I really thought was bad was the not throwing away of ANYTHING. It was such a relief to be able to BURN all those chat logs, emails, phone records, receipts, plane ticket stubs, and all that stuff.

Just sit down and fill out the stuff as you get it. It's not that big of a deal. Good luck! And congratulations on your NOA2!

    Thank you, Will do :innocent:

  4. I sent in the RFE evidence of Saturday and they did get it by Monday?? Does anybody have any idea how long does it take for them to approve the case??? I filed in Vermont.

I think it really depends on where you are but here is the status timeline for our RFE: and again, I hear Vermont is alot different for timeframes too, from reading other posts out there.

    I-129F RFE(s) : 2009-01-08

    RFE Reply(s) : 2009-01-15

    I-129F NOA2 : 2009-01-26

  5. Ok, so this is probably off topic but.. I have a concern / question..... and it wasnt answered in the last spot I posted it :crying:

Re: picture of you and your SO together...

That is the one thing I don't have... We have known each other since late 2006 and finally met on April 2008, however, the whole topic of marriage and spending the rest of our lives together didn't come up until my visit with him. When I was there we spent all of our time alone together and seeing the sites, not once did we think.. gee we better get some proof for the K1 process.. We filed for the K1 about 4 months after I left and upon reading about what we need and looking at the things I have, the picture of the two of us together are not one of them.. providing I have all my ducks in a row and have proof of an on going relationship... will this affect their final decision at the interview? :bonk:

I am surprised you didnt get an RFE for that but it might be a problem in the interview...but maybe they arent as strict on the photo evidence since your in Canada and its close. Do you have like pictures of him you took and pictures of you he took at like the same spot.....But then again reading what some people say here the interviewer didnt look at the pictures.

Well we did get an REF - but we didnt send in pictures at all with the RFE and we were still approved. I had sent them proof of my visit there as well as bording passes etc..

    - As for picutres of him in the same spot and me in the same spot, yes I do have those.

  7. I hate it when cashiers carry on a long conversation with the person in front of you, but when it's your turn to check out, they neither look at nor speak to you, just hold out their hand for the cash.

I hate it when people talk on cellphones in the stalls of public restrooms.

HA HA OMg yeah, thats a good one, I HATE those too!

  8. I hate it when ___ people eat while talking on the phone to you.

I hate it when ___people talk on their cell phone in public, then look at you as if you are eavesdropping on their converstation.

I hate it when ____its so cold outside you feel like your nose is going to fall off.

I hate it when ____you have to explain something to someone more than 2 times and they still dont get it.

I hate it when ___ my feet are cold and wet.

    - yeah .. I'ma hater

  9. There are many here who have had very long wait times. I suggest having some patience.

    Agreed

I'm wondering why you say you "can't afford" to wait too long. To me, this makes it sound less and less like a real relationship and more of a business arraignment. It the relationship is REAL, then a few extra months will not change things ...

    - And by the way he is acting, it makes me wonder, who would want to marry THAT.

  11. Hi!

Im a Canadian Citizen living in Canada, engaged to an American Citizen living in the US. We want to get married in the US and then both move to Europe.

I will then start the immigration process to become a US from Europe.

Does this mean that I will be applying for Spouse Visa? Would that be ok and legal?

Would greatly appreciate any information you may have.

    Thank you!

    Marney

I do not understand... If you both plan on moving and living in the UK, why bother with trying to become a US citzen ?

  12. hello all!

my partner and i having some trouble figuring out if we should get married in peru, go with a k3 or cr1 visa, or go with a fiance k1 visa and get married in the states. we want to live there, as i plan on going back to school.

not to be a bother, but i was hoping to get some advice on why you chose to do k1 and how it's going? how's the affidavit of support? basically, since i've been living in and volunteering in peru for the past year +, i don't have a job or income in the states. i'm planning on going back to grad school in fall 2010(which provides tuition and living stipends, but i don't think that can be included on the i-864) and my partner plans on joining me (assuming all the visa things go well). my parents have agreed to cosign. i also have assets....given all this information, would it be a good idea for me to go back to the states and work awhile before the next tax filing season so that i can put my income, etc on the form (assuming i petition after april 2010)?

basically, i want to find a way that we won't get turned down based on the affidavit of support...but also a way that keeps us from being separated for long periods of time.

also. what is the 125% poverty level now-a-days?

    any advice?

    thanks so much!

Well in the end its up to you on what you choose and what is best for you, but the reasons we choose the K1 over other visas, are its supposed to be a bit faster, plus with the fiance visa, the first year of our marriage will not be spent apart.

  13. Hello, everybody!

Me and my fiance still waiting for NOA 2 .

It's been 3.5 months since we got our NOA 1.

Maybe we have some problems? or they haven't reviewed it yet? maybe we had some problems in our relationships proof?

    thank you :)

It took us 5 mnths and a few days to get our NOA2 since the NOA1. Before that we got hit with an RFE, so the fact that you havent heard anything yet, could be good news or just normal.

    Hang in there

  14. I think the NOA2 is so exciting because after that, you can TALK to people and find out information on your case. It's a huge mystery before then, but afterward you can talk to a person who will say more than 'you're within the normal processing times'. NVC and DOS are extremely helpful, and Embassies usually get back to you in a timely fashion.

ORLY? You mean you can actually talk to people about the status of your case? well that is something to look forward to  Although I think its still a bit early for me to be calling them.

    - Also, thank you everyone for your positive feedback and replies. I know it will be worth it once its all over and done with, its just like someone else said before on another post, about how it seems your life is now in someone elses hands and you dont really have control over it, that part does bother me, but it is like anything else. If you want it bad enough it's worth the wait :D

    - I really hope that everyone who is still waiting for thier NOA2 approval gets theirs soon!!! Waiting Sux

  15. Let me tell you that when I get my NOA2 I will be celebrating big time....it seems so long ago we filed!! I understand what you mean about all the other documents...i'm busy trying to get my head around that too in preparation....but 5 months and not a single touch?? Once I get that notification, i'm getting me a bottle of bubbly :pop:

Hang in there, hopefully you will get your NOA2 approval any day now

  16. Sent packet 3 in late December and they responded that I'm on the waiting list in early January after I asked for confirmation. It's good to know that most of the waiting is done... these last few months should be a breeze.

Well I'm not there yet, but hope to be soon. I am waiting my Packet 3.

I also have a question, Where abouts in the process did you go for your medical ? Did they tell you in packet 4 ? or ...
