  1. I am thinking of doing the same. I sent my application in. How does that affects me if I decide to renew my Green Card in the future?

Maybe you have to notify USCIS in writing or make INFOPASS perhaps and explain that you do not want to apply for Citizenship anymore?

You just have to renew your GC every 10 years before the Card expires. My aunt who lives in Seattle has been a green Card holder for 18 years now and has no desire to apply for Citizenship. Obey all laws and pay your taxes and you'll be fine.

    Good luck.

  2. Your fiancée could have just followed whatever is shown on her BC. My maiden name was also misspelled in my BC, one letter is wrong but had no problem during the entire process and besides when you get married; her middle name will be useless anyway (unless she intends to keep her maiden name).

It will potentially complicate things and worst; delay the application if immigration notices the different spellings of her name on the documents.

Anyway, every case is different and I am just sharing my experience. Good luck and wish you a speedy process!

  3. GMA? GMA Network broadcasting company? I don't have any idea how things are done in the UK, and made no comments about it. I live in Hawaii and last I checked that was in the US.

It's my understanding the PI ERC which is a purely independent regulatory body performing the combined quasi-judicial, quasi-legislative and administrative functions in the electric industry, and handles such things as consumer complaints, applications for COC, RES and WA'si applications for a general change in rate, power supply contracts and so on.

I think he meant to say Gloria Macapagal Arroyo...

  4. I came in with my buddies this week. The restaurant has an 'A' rating posted on the window. No F%$@king way, how can a Health Department do that?!! There were no available 'clean' tables and there were dirty dishes and spilled food all over most tables and onto the floor, Yak! The bathroom was very filthy that made me lose my appetite. I wasn't going to eat but my friends and I were playing basketball, so I ordered the 'sisig' and to my disgust it came with a 4 inch black hair in it. The 'very ugly & dirty dude' who took our orders had dirty oily black & gray hair. He even spilt stuff all over the counter and overfilled our plates with sauces and didn't have the courtesy to wipe them off. Then, he wiped his fingers on a dirty rag and proceeded to serve others, Yak! Never going back to this filthy place. My friends said that this place is always like this no matter what time of the day you go there. This restaurant is such a Health Hazard and IMHO gives Filipinos a 'negative' reputation in the Restaurant Industry!

  5. The only potential problem I could see being an issue is: If your child is born in the U.S.A and is an American citizen. After the necessary steps are taken and the child recieves duel-citenzship and gets an RP passport. Then you travel to the RP using the childs RP passport, how do you prove the the child is an American citizen when returning from the RP? The childs social security card? Birth certificate? should probablly be sufficient, but I don't know for sure. Has anyone on Visa journey ever traveled with their American/Filipino child using an RP passport?

    Wyatt

You have to apply for your child's US passport first that is the most important or do it at the same time, apply for US and Philippines passports. Your child can enter/exit the Philippines with US passport only, no problem with that.

I applied for my son's US passport when he was 5 months old then just recently Philippines passport and still waiting for it the mail tho.

When you travel bring your Marriage Certificate, Birth Certificate of the Child and Parental Consent from your wife or vice-versa if the Child is travelling with only one parent.

  6. Hi everyone! I just wanted to ask what seminar does my fiance needs to attend in CFO? Is it the Pre-departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS) or is it the Guidance Counseling Program (GCP) ?

I also wanted to ask if she can attend the CFO seminar before her interview and what are the requirements for registration?

    Is CFO and PRISM different?

Your fiancé needs to attend the GCP-it's for fiancé (e) and spouses of foreign nationals-

She can take the seminar but she has to go back for the sticker. Someone who has just been through with the CFO seminar will chime in…

Here is the CFO website. It should answer some if not all of your questions.

  7. I-10 west,

i dont have my SSN & GC either. i called USCIS yesterday and Jackie, the operator i talked to, told me to call them back after i have been in the US for 30 days! *sigh* i got here March 6th.

the operators dont really know most of the answers. here's a story:

a week after i got here i called USCIS and wanted to verify my mailing address since they always mess that up. they would mail stuff to the physical address instead of PO Box even though my hubby called them and informed them like 100x to send to the PO Box because we cannot receive mail in the physical address. anyway, all i wanted to do was verify the mailing address and the guy i talked to just CANNOT comprehend. we went as far back as our NOA1 receipt number for the I-130 petition back in september 2009! good thing i am a little bit patient because my hubby was already getting annoyed and wanted me to hang up. i stayed there on the phone with him till he finally understood what i wanted to know and checked the mailing address. the phone call lasted about 25 minutes  that long just to verify the mailing address.

metro and i have the same issue with physical address and PO box. they get their mails from the PO box too. and guess what, USCIS sent her GC to the physical address. and since like me, she cannot receive mail there, the card was sent back to USCIS. now she needs to wait ANOTHER 30 days so they can send the GC out to her PO box. that is my fear too :( *sigh*

Yeah, it frustrating sometimes when there's nothing you can do but to wait, wait and more waiting…LOL

25 minutes just to verify the address?? That sucks man. I have read some posts (not Philippines forum though) that they don't have issues using P.O box I don't know why you're having problems. Btw, may I ask why you cannot receive mails with your physical address? Anyhow, good luck girls and Welcome to the USA! TC...

  8. Oh ok! Thanks for your assistance!!!!

Hey, you're welcome! Glad to be able to help.

So any update about your missing GC? Did you contact USCIS? I made a phone call too yesterday updating my application and asked if they mailed my bio appointment letter yet which they did not I don't know why maybe my last fingerprints were still valid (the lady whom I spoke with doesn't really know the answer) and she just told to me to wait few more days and make another call after 30 days after the NOA1 so we'll see…

  9. I'm a Filipino citizen married to a US citizen (by birth). My husband and I are currently living here in Colorado and we are going to have our first child in June. In my understanding, our child is going to have dual citizenship. I would like to know how I could get a Philippine Passport for our child while we're here in the US? I know the part where I have to report the birth within 12 months to a Philippine consulate but I can't find information on how I can acquire a Philippine passport for our child while we're here. We're planning to bring him to the Philippines for a vacation during the Christmas holidays and I would like for him to enter the Philippines on a Philippine Passport.

    Thanks!

After the baby is born submit the report of birth and the required documents and you can do it by mail. The thing is you have to apply in person for your child's passport so might have to travel for it.

Haven't seen San Francisco Consulate doing outreach programs like the one in LA, they have outreach programs for States that is under their jurisdiction.

Other option is submit Report of Birth and just apply for your son's passport in Philippines while there?

    Good luck.

  10. Count me in! Especially when there's a kid at the back, I got nervous but my husband is a good driver maybe just part of being a mother and you don't want any member of your family get hurt or involve in an accident. When I'm the one driving, I always check the speed limit and take extra precautions and my husband has no complains so far. I don't know if I can drive in Philippines though...it must be tough!!!:hehe:
