  1. An American got scammed by a Filipino homosexual. Poor guy didn't know that he's sending money to someone he thought was a lady.

I think I have seen that in GMA news and the gay guy is from Cebu.

Karylle's picture, the daughter of Ms Padilla was also used by a scammer.

  2. After my Rose takes her Medical, St. Lukes is going to take hold of her passport. The only other form of Identification she will have left with her is her Postal ID, will this be enough for her to be able to board her plane to back to Leyte ?

Postal ID's can be faked that is why it's not really acceptable. Is she a member of SSS? Have her apply for SSS Card since you still got plenty of time. It's good to have at least 2 Id's. , NBI Card (which I didn't know existed until I bumped in this thread :P) & SSS card.

    Good luck.

  3. The benefit for me is I won't have to deal with USCIS anymore!

As a US passport holder you can travel to most countries visa-free, and in the coming months and years, USCIS fees will most likely to go up so I would rather finish this immigration journey ASAP.

I can go visit my Birth country as well and not worry if I cannot return to US after 6 months. As LPR's you are limited can't be out of the country for that long period of time, you cannot get Federal jobs and you cannot vote.

  4. ampi,

Both you and the post auther got point.

In the application form it asks simply for your signature, HOWEVER in the N-400 instructions it says to sign your full name without abbreviating it or use initials..:blink:

Correct the signature must be in full name, No abbreviation and No initials. Very important to read the instructions first before filling out the forms also. One of the members here got the application returned because he/she printed out his full name instead of signing it. Duh, confusing isn't it? Important is when you sign, it MUST be your complete name.

  5. Hi Everyone!

I have been following this blog for a long time but this is my first post since my naturalization process will begin soon.

    I have 2 questions.

in the form where it says any other names that you have used

should I put my maiden name before marriage?

and another one is about signing the form.it says you should sign your full name.

my signature is totally different than my name.so should i hand print my name and sign next to it?

Thank you for taking time to answer my questions.

Eligible to file for N-400 May 14 2010

    Based on 3 years marriage

    Local Office:Fort Lauderdale/Florida

    1. Yes put the names/aliases that you had used in the past like your maiden name.

    2. The Form only asked for signature, no need to complicate. They might return your application if they got confused and your signature from the AOS-ROC (as it appears in your Green Card) to Citizenship should be the same unless you are going to have a name change this time?

    3. If you still have your G-325A, you can use it too as your reference to answer some questions on the form like work history and addresses.

    Good luck!

  6. Hello mga mommies and mommies-to-be,

    Kumusta na kayo lahat?

My toddler will be turning 2 years old by July, so far so good naman walang problema, I am happy and proud to say that he has never been sick, since he was a baby (was breastfeed until he was 20 months old :luv:) medyo makulit lang at mahilig magtatakbo pero ok na ok naman at super relaxed na rin di tulad 'nong maliit pa siya. Anyway, I thought of sharing this video from our local TV station.

  7. No questions about origin if they don't allow dual nationality,

but the US doesn't recognize dual nationality and many US

citizens hold more than one valid passport. It's just that

each one is recognized within it's own borders.

Question for others from Philippines -

If you go to Manila showing your US & Philippine passport at the US departing immigration,

you enter the Philippines with the Filipino passport and there's no problem.Correct.

However, when you exit Manila and you don't have a valid US visa on your Philippine passport,

do they take away your Philippine passport and let you board with the US passport? -You don't exit with Philippine passport, you use it entering the country but when leaving, use the US PASSPORT and no, they won't take the PP.

Or do you go to jail?-No you don't go to jail :P.

  8. To those who have acquired US citizenship:

Have you re-acquired your Filipino citizenship?

If you have not re-acquired your Filipino citizenship, can you enter the Philippines with just our US passport without any trouble?

I'm still waiting for my US Citizenship interview but my plan once I get naturalized is to apply for dual citizenship in the future also. To answer your question, you should have no problem with holding a US passport only. My relatives who have been here for many years and did not re-acquire Filipino citizenship had no issues returning to Philippines for vacations with US passport only.

When you travel to Philippines carry your old Philippine passport or Philippine BC , Marriage certificate and children's BC if your family will travel with you to avail the Balikbayan program and enjoy the following benefits like travel tax exemption , duty-free shopping and Visa-free entry to the Philippines for a period of one (1) year.

  9. to the OP: Don't VOLUNTEER information but if asked be truthful. Good luck with the interview.

We don't know if the CO will bring it up on the interview or not but if it will happen, she needs to be prepared be able to explain the circumstances why she had a 'miscarriage' and stick to it. If she admits that she lied in her medical that may cause a delay in her application or will be denied of getting a visa as Consulates also observes the laws of the host country and abortion is a crime in Philippines and they are aware of that.

  10. Hi Ampi,

Ant is right!

Cannot carry a photocopy of the certificate, as on the certificate itself it says, "It is illegal to make photocopies..."

Cannot carry the original certiicate with me....As it can get stolen, lost, damaged, etc. that way. And who the heck carries around a $675 original ($400 replacememnt) piece of paper around with them...lol

When you got your Naturalization Certificate you can go to SS office and update your status that you are US citizen. This might help just in case you get stop by the cops. I don't know if the cops will ask you for your SS card though aside from your DL. Never stop by the cops yet, hope not headbonk.gifheadbonk.gif I just carry my DL al the time.

    Hi sis kumusta?

No, we don't give SSN that is a big secret! hehehe

Good luck on your parents petition. Your baby is adorable. Ingat.

    Lol....Hmm.....

I wonder if I'm better off with a green card than a naturalization certificate, to prove my legal US status......

Really, the USA should come up with a US citizenship card with a certificate too!

    Ant

:jest: Ant, that is hilarious! But not a bad idea

  11. Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought adoption for the purpose of immigration is considered fraud.

I mean, if you adopt and orphan or a family member who has been orphaned, abandoned etc then need to have them immigrate so you can care for them is okay but if they're in no immediate danger or risk in their current situation you can adopt them & then petition them.

Yes of course the child must be an orphan or has parent (s) that is either absent or cannot function as parents and that is why I said there's bunch of requirements about adoption but I leave it to the OP to find out what are those. Adoption is for children who cannot be reared by their biological parents.

The OP did not state if the parents are still alive or not. She only said she want to bring over her nephew which is impossible to do since he is not an immediate family.

I'm not suggesting an adoption for purpose of immigration. Adopting her nephew is only her option if she really wants him to come over sooner provided the child qualifies the requirements that I have mention.

We need more info from OP if the child's parents are still around or not or the parents have voluntarily or involuntarily forego their parental authority to the child.

  12. After you become a US CITIZEN and when you apply for your passport, by paying extra $25, you can get a passport card, which is a size of a credit card, which you can carry around in your wallet and is also valid for travel to CANADA, MEXICO and other areas.

    Hi,

I think I'm going to get that passport card as well soon after the process I'll apply for that too since it's small in size would be convenient no hassle at all to carry aside from DL .

My many thanks to everyone it's nice to hear your different opinions & thanks for the tips/advises.

  13. P.S. However, the solution that I mentioned is not a solution if I do not live in a state that does not have EDLs, nor is a solution if I need to fly internationally as a passport is needed for such...

So I guess I can say that as long as I live in NYS and I don't fly......I'm fine...Anything else....It's still a problem..

    Ant

    Hi Ant,

Thank you for the replies. Good for you that NY has EDL wish we have that too here in AZ. What other states that issues EDL? Funny, sometimes I would carry my little purse with my GC in it when I check our mailbox which is a little walk from the house lol. :P

Thanks for the good luck too. :) TC.

  14. I did not receive any letter other than NOA. What is yellow letter ?

Yellow letter is the document checklist that you will have to bring with you on the day of your citizenship interview. I got mine on 16th April I'm required to bring DL and passport which is not a problem since I got those anyway. Still waiting for the IL though...

    Good luck.

  15. Thank you guys for the responses, appreciate it. My DL is good until 2019 but doesn't say anything about immigration status so first I was confused I thought I have to upgrade with DMV after acquiring citizenship .BUT just realized it proves I'm a legal resident of AZ. But ID's can be faked right?

I asked you guys because we travel to California a lot and there's checkpoints where they ask for ID's and immigration status and I have had no problem I just show my GC /Passport with them. If I will not carry any proof of legal immigration status and will be stopped for questioning and run checks on me that will take time and delay us and I don't want it to happen esp. that we have a child with us so that is my concern.

Yes I am aware of the immigration bill and as for now I can't say if it's good or not. Some people here say that we will not see much workers standing by the road waiting to get 'hired' but they will be going house to house instead to find a 'job'.

  16. First, Congratulations!

This might be a silly question but I want to ask what proof of identifications you carry around with you now that you are basically done with immigration process .Aside from your driver's license, work ID's, etc., are you carrying a US passport or perhaps a copy of it in your wallet/purse also just in case you get pulled over by an immigration officer and question your immigration status?

    Thanks for any inputs.:)
