  1. Acks! I was suppose to file in February, but I finally got all my paperwork together for March soooo... looks like I'm part of this group! I didn't know how to fill out the list, so if possible, please add me! =)

My green card expires May 12th, 2012, andddddd I finally sent my package via USPS, Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation, this morning. So happy!

    Now.... let the waiting begin!

  2. I've been in the US for about seven months now and loving every bit of it; the married life & job life has been good to me. The husband and I have since filed taxes for last year (2010) and things are going great! Work has so nicely given me time off, so I'll be going back to visit my family back in Canada for three weeks. With that being said, I was wondering: on the Canadian Declaration Form, do I fill out that I'm (1) Part B: Visitor of Canada and how long I'll be staying or (2) Part C: Resident of Canada? Also, since my ticket was booked with my maiden name & I'll be crossing the border using my passport (still in my maiden name), should I also show the Canadian Border Agents my green card? Is it necessary?

Any help figuring this out would be great! :)

  3. Well, I've spent a good chunk of almost a month here in Canada, but I'm really ready to go back home to the US. Since I'll be flying with my brand spankin' new Green Card, I have a few questions to ask that some of you may have some answers to.

    1) I've booked my ticket with my maiden name, since that's what appears on my passport. When I go through customs & fill out the blue US customs forms, beside the part where it reads "Family Name", do I put it as my maiden name (on my passport) or my married name (on my Green Card)?

    2) With my green card & passport, I'll also have my approval for being a US Permanent Resident with my married name on it, along with an official copy of my marriage license as well. Would that be enough?

    3) I also have my passport stamped as well, since I thought I wouldn't get my Green Card on time. Do you think that would be a problem? It's good until August 1, 2010, since I told the lady at my InfoPass appointment that I would be staying in Canada for about a month (feels good to be back in Canada... but I miss my home in the US!)

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

  4. Finally got my green card in the mail today; and, of course, as the stars would have it, right after getting a stamp at my InfoPass appointment yesterday thinking I wasn't going to get it on time for traveling back to Canada in time for my wedding! So glad that I have it now :)

  5. I recently had my interview (May 17th) for my AOS and got approved. I informed the person who interviewed me that I would be needing to travel back to Canada for my religious wedding , but he said that the green card would arrive before I leave. At the interview, he asked to give him both my EAD & AP (which I gave) and said that I would be receiving my green card shortly. It's been a few weeks & the green card still hasn't arrived. I'll be leaving on my trip soon to go back to Canada (in less than a week). I booked an InfoPass appointment in a few days and was wondering if at the appointment itself, would they give me a stamp (I-551) and what should I bring to the appointment?

  7. This may be a stupid question, but I was wondering -- since I've already been approved for a Green Card but don't actually HAVE it in hand, would I still be able to travel to Portland to Vegas on a plane using my Canadian passport? I'm not too sure if I'll be getting it yet (I received a notification that it's being produced, but I don't know how long that is going to take) but since I'm only traveling in the US, would it be okay? I

  9. Just had my interview today -- got approved! Simple, didn't ask a lot of questions, although we did come over prepared. For those going in for their interviews -- bring your copy of the AOS that you sent in along with originals and anything that you have joint together. Also bring photos! Our officer loved those. And of course, smile, be positive and show that you two love each other... because that's what we did! :)

  11. A little less than a week until my interview (next Monday, May 17th). I'm so nervous, lately all I can ever think about is this interview. We don't have a lot of joint things other than our bank statements and cell phone bill... but other than that, that's about it. We have friends writing us reference letters to bring, along with some photos. I hope these will be enough... it's hard to get stuff done without proper id or anything! (Oregon is tough on getting a license, ID, etc. without a green card.)

  12. Approved.

My appointment was 1pm. We got there at about 12:20 and we weren't even called until 1:45!

Pretty straight forward, just verified some info on the sheets and asked some questions.

He looked at our photo album and didn't keep any evidence.

He seemed kinda surprised that we don't have any joint evidence though, but we couldn't help it.

Nothing really worth noting, to be honest haha.

The LA office is sooooo busy, I guess that's the only worthwhile thing to note.

The IO explained removing of conditions really confusing like. It's just 3 months before our 2 year green card expires right?

    Congratulations! :)

  13. I just posted yesterday about how I didn't get a touch on my EAD & AP... and what do you know... I just got a text message this morning that my EAD & AP have both been APPROVED! They're both in production right now! YAY!

    :)

  14. Tried to get a license here in Oregon... and failed miserably this past Friday. Turns out they need my EAD to even CONSIDER giving me a license, let alone an Oregon ID. On top of that, after being a driver for over 10 years in Canada, they're telling me that I have to re-take a written AND actual driver test AFTER I get my EAD/Green Card. ASLDJALSDJALSDKAJD!!!!!!!!!!LASDLAS!@@#Uq)($)#(*$1!!! Needless to say, I'm not happy, but I guess I have no other choice.

I really was hoping for my case to get transferred to California, but after reading what people have said on here, I'm feeling more relieved (well, just a bit) for my interview on May 17. It feels like it's going to take forever since there hasn't been any touches on the AP or EAD either. Hopefully something will happen soon!
