    Hi Dan, 

    Great News on your visa Journey!

    So glad to see someone with the same visa category.

    I am a US citizen now[almost 10 years ago] and married to US citizen for 15 Years. Want to apply for my unmarried Son over 21 years of age.

    He also wants to study further, can we apply for his student visa and he come`s here and then we apply for I-130.

    Wondering what process or steps are involved. How long does it take? What is a better option?

    Do you have timeline that you can share?

    Also I understand the category is F1 but that sounds similar to Student visa category F-1, is the difference between the two merely a dash?

    Any information would be appreciated.

    Find Indian community and gatherings, www.eknazar.com/ is a good place to look for Indian events in your city. Yes I am from India and I learned the first part of the Driving course online, through free resources. My husband taught me some, and then I had an Indian instructor who helped with my driving test part and I passed, but with a lot of practise. Eknazar may have some Indian driving instructor advertisements. Hope it helps

    This Journey is finally over...so much Paper work...this final stage was the one which was with the least amount of paper work...the oath ceremony was great...even met Christopherevan there...from this forum...I cried when the song went...I am Proud to be an American....went to the social security office, changed status...no new SSN...just updating...sent voters registration application....got the passport...feels surreal...now have to work on my OCI/PIO for India...that's another process...and more dollars to spend.

    Could not have done this Journey without the forums and Visa Journey...saved us tons of Lawyers Fees...and we learned a lot along the curve....once your done...you don't feel like bothering to come back and write your experience...but we have tried to come back and write...so it might help others, as we were helped by others who wrote before us.

    God Bless All In Their Individual Journeys.....and this awesome place called VISA JOURNEY!!!!!

    Hi guys,

    Happy to say I am done! :) Had my interview scheduled at 9:30 am, arrived around 8:30am, was called in at 9:20 and was out by 9:30. The officer-lady was extremely nice, went over my application, asked about my husband who I filed for as LPR, and noted that once I am done today I can upgrade him and he can join me soon. Than asked:

    1) who is our governor?

    2) Where is Statute of Liberty?

    3) who is MLK?

    4) Name two Fed Holidays?

    5) Who was 1st President?

    6) What rights do you gain as US Citizen?

    Than I read "When is President's day?" and wrote "The President lives in the White House".

    Than I was told to come back at 3:15 for the Ceremony. Ceremony was great and quick and I was done by 4:30.

    Next step is passport on Friday in the Passport Agency since I am traveling on the 25th :dance:

    Technically they have a 120 day time limit from the date of the interivew. My I/O said it should be within 30 days, but who knows. I was also told by USCIS after 90 days I can have them check to see what is going on but that is about all. I will wait, just frustrated because its been such a long journey, it would nice to be actually done! It would also be great if my online case status updated so I feel better, even though I know that system does not always work correctly.

    This is what I read online, when you check the case status online, and click on the "Decision"

    "Naturalization Applicants: you will receive your certificate at your oath ceremony. You can expect to be scheduled for an oath ceremony within 45 days of receiving your recommended approval. Many offices schedule approved applicants for the oath ceremony on the same day as the day of the interview. Please check the local office profile page on our website to determine if the office where you will be interviewed schedules same day oath ceremonies".

    The IO who took my interview said they send out a letter in a week or two...I understand how you feel, but I guess, at this point we just have to wait.....there is nothing much we can do, except pray.

    I have my interview on Friday. Do I have to bring my previous passport to the interview? I only have my current one(also expired). Thanks!!!

    I took all my passports... Just in case if they ask... But did not ask for them .

    Hey everyone,had my interview today and was approved!!

    Thank god and VJ!!

    We reached at 9:20..had the security clearance.

    Then was sent up for interview.

    With my spouse, and baby.

    My appointment was at 10:15 but was called at 11:15[pager started blinking] and then waited some more after being called, as the interviewer took someone else before me.

    Since our baby was crying, he asked if I was ready, and I said yes....while walking in the cabin, he asked for my SSN, greencard and drivers license.....I saw my file...was pretty thick:)

    Went in, Took oath,he asked me the three questions first....without waiting.

    Name one war fought in the 1900`s?[WWI]

    How many representatives are there[435]

    Who is the chief Justice?[John Roberts]

    then he rearranged some papers and then asked the remaining three

    In which month do we vote for President?[November]

    How many years do we elect a US representative for?[2]

    Who was the father of our nation?[George Washington]

    Then asked me to write.....Washington was the first president.

    He said I was almost done, and then he rearranged papers and arranged them and went through my personal details on the n-400 and then asked the yes and no questions at the end.

    He stamped at a lot of places and we joked a bit....was easy going...I was so stressed before...but it was over in less than 10-15 minutes.

    He said he could not send me for Oath today as it was late..and the ceremony for that day was over...they close at 10:45.....to add people to the Oath list.

    So I have to wait for a week or two weeks for a letter in the mail for the Oath ceremony!!!

    It`s not hit me yet....that the USCIS Journey is almost over....But I thank god and VJ, as without God, it would not have been so smooth...and without VJ we would have to spend tons on Lawyers...the support and forums we joined here were such a great help.

    Sure... I'll let you guys know my details :)

    So my husband and I got to the USCIS building in Atlanta, GA about 35 mins before my interview time. Just as an FYI to anyone who has a spouse who is military or a federal employee, they get treated differently at security. Anyway, my husband (active duty Army) got ushered through and then we checked in. I checked in just before the 30 min early mark and I noticed a list saying N400 interviews and there were 4 of us listed for my appointment time (12:45) and I was the first there. The guy printed a ticket andtold me to go to the 2nd floor and wished me luck. When we got upstairs, ticket Q86 was called and I was Q90. We took a seat and waited and waited.... many people who had been interviewed earlier were being called and given a piece of paper for doing their oath at 2pm that day and telling them exactly what area to go to at that time. As it was approaching 1pm I knew I would not be done in time to be a same day :( I was called around 1:10pm and the IO took me to a different floor.

    The IO sat me down and just asked how I was doing today and explained that we had just missed the cut off time for same day oaths and should I pass the interview I will be mailed a letter telling me when and where my ceremony will be. He asked me for my ID, permanent resident card, and passport. My ID is from out of state due to being a military spouse and keeping residency there for tax purposes. I know the laws are kind of black and grey under that but our command says its ok to stay with our out of state ID. Anyhow, he gave me alot of hassle about my drivers license and urged me to get it fixed and I could get in trouble if pulled over... yada yada. He told me he would perform the test first and then go over the N400 application.

    He asked me 6 civics questions which I got right. I cannot remeber the 6th one.

    I was asked:

    What peoples were brought to this country to be sold as slaves?

    What is the highest court in the US?

    Who is the vice president?

    Why did the colonists fight the British?

    and now I can't remember the 5th question :/

    Anyhow, I did the writing portion of the test and then he went over my application. My file was huge! He started flipping through the file from years ago and I was surprised to see bank statements and tax returns from years and years ago from my applications. He asked me how long I'd been LPR (over 5 years), and then basically just asked me if I was working now, and had I been out of the US since filing the N400. He went through the form with me step by step and when asked about a title of nobility in another country, he made a joke. I said no and he said "what, England didn't make you a princess?". He was very easy to talk to!

    Once we had gone through the application, he had me sign paperwork. He was very slow and methodical, but friendly and somewhat of a perfectionist. He started cleaning up my file and joking about how my file was so big, and what I'd done to make it so big. I asked him what happens to the files after someone naturalizes and he said they just sit at the national records center, lol. He cleaned up my file alot, reorganized things and told me he was doing this so that when quality control checks the file there is nothing missing or wrong, and it doesn't cause any problems or delays. He said sometimes mistakes happens and a person would have to come back in to sign something, or resubmit something just so the file is complete. After triple checking the file he signed off on it and handed me the slip to say I was approved and congratulated me. He talked about Ft. Benning, GA and said they come down here alot to do stuff with soldiers immigration and asked why we didnt let them interview me there and I said I don't make the rules, they do, and he laughed. He said I should receive a letter within 30 days for my oath, but could take up to 120 days. I asked where it would be and he said there at the office. He told me to call them if I had any emergency travel coming up to ask them to hurry with the oath so I can get a US passport and travel on that, but it would be ok without it.

    I left happy and kind of stunned :)

    I just hope it doesnt take too long for the oath... Atlanta, GA does oaths everyday at 2pm so I am hoping it wouldn't take too long seeings as if I had just been in my apt 10 mins earlier I could have been done that day.

    I just want to share what happened yesterday, I got 2 e-mails from uscis , 42 days passed from fingerprint EB 10/05/12, the first e-mail that I received was at 10:45a.m. and said that I was placed inline for interview, so I was happy to finally see some progress with my case, then I received a second e-mail from USCIS at 5:45 P.M and it said that I was schedule for and interview and that I was going to receive a letter with time and place so this really make my week and now I'm just wating for the letter.

    Good Day!

    This are the questions asked?

    1. What is the supreme law of the land?

    2. What did the declaration of Independence do?

    3. What is the "rule of law"?

    4. Why does the flag have 13 stripes?

    I was surprised because he only asked me 4 questions,then he review my application, asked about my speeding ticket.

    He instructed me to read and write a sentence.Then

    Congratulate me and instructed me to sign some papers.

    Asked me if I want to attend the Oath on the afternoon, he told me that they will conduct an oath taking ceremony for 37 new US Citizens.

    I was really lucky, right timing.

    Hi guys,

    I got my interview letter and it is on December 18. For the reasons unclear to me it is in MT. Lauren, nj not Newark. But it's ok as long as it arrived and they have same day oath ceremonies :dance: I have a trip booked on the Dec 25 so will have to make an appointment to get my passport in one day ....... So happy :thumbs: good luck to all!!!
