  1. sorry this is out of the topic but i sort of have the same situation. i lived in the philippines for about 24 years but i was born in the united states and i have returned to the united states july 2008. i have been working for almost 6 months now...and i am putting my papers together for my husband (IR-1, IR-2) whom i married in the philippines...

this is my first year to file for taxes...i have come back to become a resident here in the united states but when you said this: "Listing your father's resident in the US as yours opens you to obligations to that residency. As a US citizen of the state where your father lives, you are obligated as a citizen to pay your federal and state taxes. Not paying taxes is a big flag for USCIS.

The bottom line is that you will not be deemed to be a good petitioner until you become a US resident, have a good income and pay all overdue taxes." --- does that mean i have overdue taxes too? and i am not going to be a good petitioner? i was a student in the philippines and i have never worked in the philippines. i worked in small jobs here in america when i use to come visit family for summers but they were only small summer jobs and of course the taxes were cut out of my paychecks but that was almost 5 years ago....i didnt even bother to file to tax returns because i went back to the philippines and i know my refunds wasnt that much anyway...

obviously since i am working again and i am consideres a professional...i pay my taxes now...ever since i got my new job...

  2. or you know what a good idea would be...maybe i should just send a picture of my husband wearing a shirt...im not a terrorist and i love bush on it...that way not every freak*n person here on VJ would assume all pakistanis are guilty until proven innocent....i thought in america it was innocent until proven guilty...oh now i get it...its guilty until proven innocent for the wh*te america trash people who live in the freak*n middle of nowhere

  3. hi just a quick question, my husband is from pakistan but he lives in the philippines...can we do his CR-1/ir-1 process in the us embassy in the philippines, i dont want him to file thru the us embassy in pakistan and like i said he lives in the philippines...with our son...

he has his valid visa, his ACR, his I card in the philippines...all legal...legal resident in the philippines

You are talking about a DCF. If you went back and reestablished your residence for 6 months first you could file that way. But Both parties have to have legal residence first.

Its going to be less time consuming to file the I-130 while you are here in the United States and have him do the interview in Manila rather than Islamabad.

no plans to do a DCF...actually i wasn't aware of that when i was still living in the philippines with my son and husband. i was only a student that time and no one wanted to be my co sponsor...no relatives, family member...not even to help us out with paying the 355$ forms...so i decided to come back to the united states after graduation and found a job...and so will definitely be filing the I 130 thru USCIS (VSC) and thru the US embassy in the philippines for both my son and husband's interview...

  5. There are (at least) two ways of doing things - the 'required' way and the 'best-practices' way.

On VJ you'll get both; what's required and what has proved to be successful for most VJers, most of the time.

You are of course free to choose your own path.

And then there are the actual instructions which clearly say "all pages" of the passport if being used as proof of US Citizenship. For all passport related purposes, I suggest photocopying all pages. One of the reasons is to clarify any question that could come up about any international travel. I suggest people not get bogged down by asking why to every part of the process they don't understand. It's complicated enough just to understand the "what to do" without all the "why", though often a little thought will answer the why questions for us.

In your case, they may actually want to know how many times YOU have been in and out of Pakistan. Every page of your passport will answer that.

PAKISTAN? ive never been to pakistan...my husband and i met in the philippines, he is from pakistan but he lives in the philippines...been living there for 5 years now

  6. i know it says birth certificate or US passport copy to show US citizenship but must i submit a copy of ALL PAGES of the passport? the first page isn't good enough? the one with the picture and signature on it? i checked USCIS webiste and the Instructions for I-130, Petition for Alien Relative pdf website and it didnt say ALL pages...only visa journey said to include ALL pages of the passport...what did you fellow Vjers do?

  7. i have not put my husbands family name to my maiden name. i mean i am still using my maiden name even though i am married already. i just thought it would be a hassle and too much paperwork to change my name...like put a hyphen or not or make my maiden name my middle name etc...and i have my ssn number in my maiden name plus my passport is still valid until 2012 so we wanted to just change my name in 2012...would this affect my petition for CR1-ir1 for my husband? our son has my maiden name though...his middle name is my maiden name...any comments?

Hmm good question. I asked my wife what she wanted to do about name change, for me was not an issue. She said no she doesn't change her name, her mother did not and seems that it is normal to keep name. I said sounds good to me! I guess it is a big deal for some people just not that important to me. I love her and happy to be married that's all that matters!

...yes no big deal for me and my husband, i was just worried that it might be a big deal to USCIS, NVC, or the consulate interviewing!...

  8. i called NVC and i called USCIS and they both said it has to be separate I 130's and if i send both together they are treated as separate petitions but processed together....now my other question is, if i send my husbands first then my sons later...what is the impact of that? like i said i dont want my sons visa to be issued way earlier than my husbands...

I see you keep posting this question over and over on the various forums. Obviously you are not getting the answer you want to hear.

Really if you want to want to send the petitions in seperately just go ahead and do it. Everybody's situation is different. You are the one that has the best idea of what you think will work for you.

geezer...i was just answering angel eyes...

and so everyone can stop answering that question already

  10. hi to all who sent their I 130s... what envelope did you use? and what type of package sending service did you use at the USPS? please let me know so i can do the same...want the one that has the tracking number on it in case it gets lost? or one that can say it has been delivered and it is really with the USCIS so that they cant say they have not gotten it?

also...i think im going to paperclip the documents together so they will be in order when recieved or did u guys stapple?
