  1. Thank you all! What keeps us going is the pay back in the end. If there was a way to pay more money and speed it up, we would do it. I kind of wish I would have found this place before I sent off the paperwork. I wonder now if I sent enough information that proves our relationship.

With the I-129f you are only proving that the two of you actually met during the last 2 years. The proof of relationship stuff is needed later at the interview stage. I suggest you use the time well while you are waiting to make sure your numbers show up on each others phone bills, send each other some real old fashioned love letters, then make sure he has a selection of things like this to show at the interview.

  2. I sent my packet 3 back on the 2nd Dec by special delivery, it arrived at the embassy on Monday 4th Dec same day as my medical, they sent me packet 4 by return post the appointment letter is dated 4th Dec, the interview date is 31st Jan.

Based on my experience I think gambling on a June wedding would be safe.

Just one thing I have noticed, interview scheduling does seem to take account of travel dates and planned wedding dates, if you want your interview in well before your wedding I think it may be counter productive to give a wedding date too far ahead.

  3. I just got my packet 4 and the IV19 says

"All fiance visa applicants and their children who will be immigrating with them to the U.S. are required to pay a visa application fee of $100 per person, regardless of age, ai the Embassy on the day of their visa interview.

Visa fees may be paid in cash, with a certified money order or by credit card (AMERICAN EXPRESS, DINERS CLUB, DISCOVER, MASTERCARD OR VISA ONLY)"

  4. English Genius

You scored 100% Beginner, 100% Intermediate, 100% Advanced, and 100% Expert!

You did so extremely well, even I can't find a word to describe your excellence! You have the uncommon intelligence necessary to understand things that most people don't. You have an extensive vocabulary, and you're not afraid to use it properly! Way to go!

I did find myself second guessing some

  5. People that I would call to collect on their credit card debt would ask "Are you Canadian by any chance?" in the middle of our conversation.

How do they know? I don't say "eh", I don't pronounce "out" or "About" like "oot" or "aboot".

    Frankly, it freaked me out!

I do say "oot and aboot" and only occasionally am taken for Canadian by English people. I can generally spot Canadian accents easily, they don't sound any more American than Kiwis sound like Aussies.

In America I usually get taken for Englisg or Irish but have been asked if I am Polish.

  6. Hey there,

Just a snippet of information for Packet 3'ers in London.

3 Photos required, 1 for medical for each applicant and 2 for Visa Interview.

Snappy Snaps does the American Passport / Visa photographs whilst you wait.

Theyr'e slightly more expensive than UK ones, which figures

£8.99 for 2, so your'e looking at £18.00, or if with children like me,

better start breaking open the piggy bank!!!

You don't need US style pics for the medical, they told me they will accept UK style passport pic for that. I plan to save myself some money and give them a spare from my last driving licence.

  7. Just sent my packet 3 back to embassy in London and scheduled my medical for the 15th. Does anybody know what happend now, do they send me another form saying my packet 3 information was all correct or do I just send of form saying I have all forms in order and Im ready for interview?

Also read I need Amie to fill in a I-138 form with some other documentation to support this. Could this just be a letter from employer confirming she in on a good salary and is employed?

    Cheers

    David

  8. thanks for every1's help. I finally got my packet together and mailed out a week ago. Had a question howver. In looking at the USCIS website the Laguna Niguel Center's timeline states that they are just now processing packets from April, 2006. Does that mean that it will be about 6-7 months before my packet evens get a touch or NOA or my check cashed?

    thanks

    Hi Tommy

the processing dates given on the service centre websites give a "worst possible scenario". Processing has speeded up recently so it should be much less than they are suggesting. The point of the dates on the website is to protect themselves from complaints as if there is a delay they can say they are still within the published times.

It's a good idea to start filling in your timeline here then it will be easy for you to compare how long other petitions are taking.

  9. At the moment the dollar is so low against the pound, not been this good for 14 years. We have already transferred a good amount over and got a really good rate, as we thought at the time which was $1.87 but now it is going crazy so we are going to forward order our rate this week and we should get over $1.96 and that will hold for the next 3months, we should be in the states before then so before we go we just call on the money and they transfer at the rate we booked. The gamble is that it doesn't go much higher, which would be a bit of a bummer but if it falls we will be laughing

Lisa, hope that picture is not Dave after a Christmas do :o)

Can I ask how and where you were able to place an order in advance at a set rate?

I'm just looking into the whole money moving process and so far have no idea other than to phone my bank here in the UK and tell them to put the money in my US account.

  10. The hospital called this afternoon. John is to go in Friday for EKG? and blood work. He is going to stay overnight as they are going to fit in his sleep test as well. I can collect him at 5.30am!!! fingers crossed that they don't keep him.

welshcookie, John has been on BP medication for about 18 months now. They changed it yesterday (3rd time actually) after seeing how high his BP still was and after doing an exam on him. I am hoping this new medication will work for him and hopefully for your hubby too (F)

mmb, John does snore and may I add makes quite a racket!!!

Thanks again everyone and fingers crossed for Friday, do you think they will get all the results the same day?

Dan your right, it has been a wake up call and best we sort things now, thank you.

Blood tests may take a little longer than the ECG for the results to be ready.

What kind of sleep test is he having? Are they looking at just his heart and BP overnight or are they looking at his breathing and snoring?

A lot of the symptoms you describe sound like my fiance, I've learned to live with the fear and enjoy every minute, I'll keep you and John in my thoughts.

  11. Thank you so much to everyone for your replies, I am so grateful (F)

Lou Lou you make some excellent points. I was so scared last night thinking" my god his BP is so high, why did'nt the doc send him to the emrgency room!" I called the nurse at the doctor's office and told her how worried I was and that the doctor's comments had scared me. She apoligised for him, saying "He is pretty blunt and wanted John to know how serious it was in order to make sure John follows through with the tests needed. She did say the symptons John has have pointed to a heart condition and yes MAYBE surgery will be needed. I did get abit mad and said its not like he had been sent for them before and refused to go!!!! I told her I had been up half the night in tears and I thought his way with words was not the right way.

I do feel abit more positive than I did this morning, thinking that yes he is sick, but we can do something about it. I will say though that I will cart him off to the emergency room if he gets the slightest pain in his chest.

He has been suffering with cramps in his legs and twinges in his chest and also been falling asleep too easily and once when he was driving!!! I asked whether this was because of his BP and she said quite possibly!! So really no one knows for sure until the tests have been done and I am going to try and remain positive. I am still waiting to hear when the tests will be and yes Lou Lou really I am abit annoyed that they have scared the life out of us.It felt like a death sentence last night but I do feel more confident about it now and we will get through this.

Thank you so much again (F)(L)

This might sound like a stupid question but does you husband snore?

If he does make sure his doctor knows, if you can manage it describe the snoring pattern in detail to his doctor. My other half has had heart problems and high blood pressure for over 25 years and it has started to improve a little now that his snoring problem has been dealt with.

  12. Hi,

I'm just trying to judge how long it really takes to get a police certificate from the NIS at New Scotland Yard?

Is it within the realms of possibility to have it within say 4 weeks?

    Thanks

    Steven

I got mine in 4 weeks and that included them writing to me to ask for more information.

  13. OKay, the UK doesn't have alot of pre-pressed clothes. The USA does. I iron my clothes and am thought of as a freak by my fiance :P .

    What do you all do?

My USA fiance thought I was crazy to want to iron my clothes but he went out and bought me a steam iron.

The first thing I had to use it on was his shirt. ;)

I've never used an iron in my 21 years of life. If it gets wrinkley I throw it in the dryer for a while and then hang it up. ;)

Lucky you, most of my clothes say "do not tumble dry" :(
