  1. Ive just had all the jabs for K1, and when i rang the medical i got told all i needed was TDP and MMR. The MMR is done in 2 lots with a month apart.

I only got one MMR jab. The nurse at Knightsbridge Doctors said that was all I need.

    Starting to worry now.

  2. Most of that stuff won't be needed at all, but looks like anything they ask for she will have to hand. Better safe than sorrywas my motto when I went.

Security will X-ray the stuff, but they seemed more interested in electronics when I was there last week.

Good luck to both of you.

  3. WE GOT IT! Chris just called! Expect the visa in 2-3 days!! Awesome! I can finally believe that our wedding will be in JUNE! Thanks again guys and good luck for everyone for the future! Time to pack and fly out!

    congratulations

  4. Hi Julie, Thanks for posting, I will email you or talk with you when you get back home.

Rosie, I got your call but the battery went dead before I could hear the full message, but I did get the part about a post on here, thanks.

John has had a tough few weeks, he was in hospital Saturday because his BP was 235/160 and he was having severe nose bleeds. They brought his BP down via a drip. They said his kidney pressure was 650lbs? instead of the normal 200, not sure about what they meant.

We went back to the doctors yesterday for yet a different medication. They finally (after 2 months!!!) had his sleep test results. I will add part of the letter from the hospital, I had the nurse copy it for me.

He has to go back into tomorrow night for a CPAP and hopefully this will help with his sleep apnea. The doctor said John is not too well at the moment and his BP is (at times) at a critical level and he could have a stroke at any moment!!!!

What I can NOT understand s why they dont take him in and sort him out!!! I feel like we are living with a ticking time bomb!! I am assuming the sleep apnea is causing the high BP and hopefully we can sort that out.

Any advice or support would be appreciated. I don't really have as much time to get on here anymore, but try to, even if it is at ridiculous hours. Thanks again

I remember when you first posted here about John's BP. I'm sorry this is dragging on so long, the CPAP will show right away if this will help him, Richard has the same problem but because of his claustrophobia couldn't use CPAP at all.

Sleep apnea won't be the cause of all his BP problem but is likely to be a major part of it so getting it under control will help a lot. The rise in his kidney pressure will be caused by his BP being high, forces more blood through the kidneys that they are used to dealing with. Often this effect of sleep apnea means patients wake up often to pee.

I'm no way an expert on this stuff, I used to be a nurse but never in this field, I've been learning fast since I got Richard diagnosed by telling his doctor all about his snoring.

PM me if you want to talk I might not have answers yet but have the same worries.

  5. Hi

Just wanted to hear experiences of Job hunting in the US. I have a standard UK education with no college or university degree but have plenty of employment and life experience !

What do employers say when you haven't got either a High School diploma or GED ???????????????

Any comments would be most welcolme

When you say a standard UK education do you mean you have GCE's or O Levels?

5 of either is roughly equivalent to an American High School Diploma so you might be able to say on applications that you have the equivalent.

  6. I don't know about K-3 but the man who dealt with my file at the US Embassy on Wednesday last week told me they had stopped using the bank giros they used to send out as they were too expensive. He also said the embassy gives a better rate of exchange than the bank did so it's better for visa applicants too. I don't know what rate they offer as I paid in US$.

  7. Can I steal it and print it out?

Thankfully this Valentines day is our last one before we get to be together for good.

I would love to send this on a card to Richard.

    Maggie

By all means! You can use it however you like! Hopefully he'll like it! I never thought about it but I guess I should send one to Marlon as well! What part of Scotland is he from?

I'm the one from Scotland, Stirlingshire, he's in Philly and is learning to appreciate my sometimes warped sense of humour.

Thanks for letting me use your picture. :)

  8. I was adopted as a baby. My adoption certificate states my place of birth as Scotland, nothing more.

This has never been a problem.

When I had my visa interview last week in London, the guy who interviewed me said it likely to cause problems when I try to adjust status. He said in his experience adopted people used their original birth certificate and their adoption certificate together and that if I can't do that I will need sworn affadavits from people who remember my adoption.

The problem is the people who were around all those years ago are now dead.

Does anyone know if this is going to be a real problem?

And does anyone know a way around it?

We're getting married at the end of March and plan to file for AOS in April.

  9. Hi Rini,

First of all on the tabs at the top of the page you will see one marked guides.

If you click there you will find a step by step guide to the K-1 process.

His criminal record is something he needs to be honest about on the I-129F as the Embassy will have to be satisfied you know all about his past. The IMBRA forum here is good for more information.

His credit history is nothing to worry about, it's his income that matters.

You need him to send you the Affadavit of support for you interview in London, if his income doesn't meet the poverty guidelines he will need a co-sponsor willing to fill in another copy of the form. That is the I-134. You can also show the Embassy proff of any money you have that you will take with you but that is usually not required. The point is to prove that you will have financial support in the USA.

Read through the K-1 guides, look at the example forms, then I'm sure you'll have more questions.

  10. They won't schedule you an interview till you send off the checklist.

When I called to schedule my medical they offered me a next day appointment.

Just get the interview date and send the checklist. If you kept copies if the packet 3 forms send them photocopies of those too. Time from me sending the checklist to interview was just over 8 weeks.
