  1. I still feel slightly stunned but I had my interview in London yesterday and couldn't believe how easy it was. There was no need to show proof (photos, emails etc ) of relationship, a few simple questions about how we met and then was told "I am approving you for a visa pending on your medical" which I had the day before. Enjoying this time before the next round but at least I will be with my loved one.

That's great to hear, makes 3 out of 3 yesterday for VJ

Hope your medical stuff gets there fast.

  2. Has anyone stayed at the Inn?...and if so..how was it?

I don't know about that one but I just stayed at the Bryanston Court Hotel, it's a bit scruffy and run down but fine for one night. Room was scruffy but clean, shower worked reasonably well, not too much traffic noise from outside and my room was at the front.

Downside, they clearly don't spend much on repairs, a window pane in my room was cracked and fixed with tape and the whole place could do with being redecorated.

The staff were friendly and helpful.

Breakfast was a good selection and eat as much as you like.

While I wouldn't stay there for a holiday I would use it again if I was only going to be in London overnight.

It's easy walking distance to the embassy and the staff were happy for me to leave my overnight bag there so I didn't have to drag it with me.

Rooms are cheaper if booked online Bryanston Court

  3. Counting myself lucky to be approved only 4 and 1/2 months from filing.

Now it's just wait for the fingerprint checks whick I was told take about 5 days.

Planning to fly home to Richard around March 6th and to finally be his wife on March 30th, only 3 years and 5 months since we first met.

  4. I guess our first 'date' was him taking me out for Chinese food the weekend after I got there. It was a little strange to go to this very ornamental Chinese place where everything was ordered in Dutch. We also went out for Valentines day, but had a hell of a time finding a place that was open. Finally his mom found a Greek restaurant and they were giving out flowers.

I know just what you mean about Chinese places in Holland, it really threw me trying to figure out what was on the menu as I was with a bunch of friends and we didn't know much Dutch. The only thing that saved us was one of my friend teaches Chinese at a University here. He finally managed to get the Dutch waiter to bring a menu written in Chinese. :)

  5. omg some people drive me nuts.... however, this is what i asked. i didnt say your husband was doing something wrong.

i am saying y ask us... talk to him and find out for yourself i mean u did marry him right... so ask him... y marry if you dont know there believes.... so DUH to u...

THIS IS WHAT I SENT TO YOU AND THEN I ALSO MADE A POST, IT JUST GETS ME THAT PEOPLE CANT TALK TO ONE ANOTHER!!!!!!!!!!

HEY THERE JUST WONDERING HOW LONG HAVE YOU KNOWN EACH OTHER? I AM MARRIED TO A MOROCCAIN MAN AND THEY DON'T CELEBRATE VALENTINE'S DAY BUT WE HAD TALKED ABOUT ALL THAT KIND OF STUFF BEFORE WE GOT MARRIED AND I KNOW THAT HE IS OK WITH GETTING A CARD AND SOMETHING SPECIAL ON THAT SPECIAL DAY AND HE WILL ALSO DO THE SAME. HOWEVER, ITS ANOTHER DAY IN THE YEAR TO CELEBRATE THE LOVE YOU BOTH SHARE...

I HONESTLY THINK THAT U SHOULDN'T ASK ANYONE THAT QUESTION BUT FOR YOUR HUSBAND. IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN. BEST OF LUCK, AND TAKE THIS EMAIL THE WAY IT'S MEANT... I AM ONLY HERE TO HELP...

    MICHELLE

AND THIS IS WHAT U SENT BACK TO ME, SOUNDED SNOTTY TO ME!!!

    Assalam Alaykum

Thank you. We have known each other for about a year now and we are newly married. I never put two and two together until a little while ago and figured out that the celebration stems in celebrating Saint Valentine, which of course is haram for us. DUH. lol. I don't mind asking questions on a forum to get others' opinions. I'm not sharing any intimate details about my husband and I so all is cool.

    Thanks again!

    ma salaama

    HAPPY V-DAY!!!

You start a thread telling other people what is acceptable to post and then have the gall to post someones private message in public.

    Incredible.

  6. I entered the U.S on a K-1 visa in August 2005, got married to my US Citizen wife, and applied for AOS.

Unfortunatly, our marriage started to break down after a short while. at this stage my AOS was pending.

I made a Info Pass at my local office and told the officer that we had problems with our marriage, and what were my options of staying in the U.S. Basicly I was told that if both my wife and I didn't attend my AOS interview, I would have leave the States or return home, being England.

So, in July 2006 I had all my belongings shipped back to the UK, and returned myself.

Afer a couple of months back home my wife started to make contact with me, saying what a terrible mistake she had made, and wanted me back, however, I was very reluctant in returning to the U.S after just rebuilding my life back in England. But we kept in contact by phone and email on a regular basis.

This past Christmas, friends of mine who live in the States invited me for the holidays. I entered the States on the Visa Waiver Program with no problems.

During my stay my wife and I spent a lot of time together and sorted out most of our problems, which was great.

Now, I'm back in England. We have both decided we want the marriage to work and I am planning on returning to the States within a few weeks. I will enter the States on the Visa Waiver Program again. But I'm very concerned about my next step.

Should I reapply for AOS and Work Authorisation?

Should we file for Family Based Visa I-130?

Can I legally stay in the States while it's being processed?

Any positive advice would be welcome....Thanks

Look for posts by arwensun as she had a similar situation and getting back together is possible.

You will need to reapply for a visa, a K-3 (spousal visa) this time and will not be allowed to adjust from a visa waiver.

  7. If thats the case looks like that woman on the embassy line was completely wrong

    Really hope so

I hope so too or I won't have much lunch money after the interview.

By the way, which one of you has the interview, is it Amie or David?

    Maggie

  8. I stayed at the Bryanston when I had my interview in London. Its not the Ritz but its adequate for the one night. It is about a 5 minute walk to the embassy.

Thanks for that, I knew it wasn't far but that's even closer than I had hoped.

Other good news is they have a luggage room, save carrying an overnight bag to the interview.

  9. Anybody know how much you pay on the day when you go for your interview? Heard it was $380, seems a little steep!

Also do you pay on the day or before you go for the interview

Not sure of the cost but recent reviews suggest $100. I do know that you can pay on the day.

Add in the cost of getting the visa delivered, depending when you want it.

  10. BRYANSTON COURT HOTEL-http://www.bryanstonhotel.com/

    MARBLE ARCH INN-http://www.marblearch-inn.co.uk/

Not sure which one Chris is going to book yet. But he said one has a easier to understand website which makes it a little easier to book!

P.S. Tracy mentioned these links were probably in a guide on the forum some where. I know I've seen them but she was kind enough to find them for me!

Thanks Tracy, I promise not to verbally attack you any time soon *giggle*

I just booked at the Bryaston Court Hotel, fingers crossed, at £44 for a night online booking I don't expect much but I hope at least it's clean.

I had saw these links here on VJ but was hoping maybe someone knew something better.

Sadly the other places I looked at online are extortionate. My tastes far exceed my budget.

    Maggie :)

  11. Hey I have my interview date on the 31st too! Mines at 10am

Really nervous though, just hoping this is a formality. Good luck to you

Looks like 3 of us so far, me at 9.30, you at 10 and another at 10.30.

Are you both going to the interview?

I wish Richard could be here with me but he's in too much pain to travel. I just have to wake him up with the result when I get out.

  12. I lived in Ham (not West Ham), near Kingston-upon-Thames until I was about three I think, so don't really remember much of that... remember Richmond Park though, that was a very nice place if i recall!

I lived in near Portsmouth from then on, a place called Horndean. It was generally a nice place, we lived sort of in the country, and it wasn't far to get to some lovely quiet pubs in the middle of nowhere. Portsmouth isn't really my cup of tea... but there are some nice bits that are quite new, like Gunwharf Quays, which are a lot nicer than the old parts of Portsmouth. many a night I spent on Guildhall Walk when I was 18/19, I'm not sure I'd be brave enough to go down there anymore!

For the past 4 years I lived in Oxford as I was at University. I lived right in the centre of town, and it was such a lovely place to live. Right near all the best pubs shops and kebab vans Oxford had to offer! I miss kebab vans...It was always cold though, must be all the rivers...

I lived in Lovedean for a while though a lot of my neighbours preferred to say we were in Horndean :D

I went to Uni mostly in Portsmouth and really liked Old Portsmouth but there are quite a few places that I wouldn't want to go back to.

I always enjoyed going to Petersfield rather than Portsmouth.

  13. tons of luck to you! Our interview isn't until the 7th but Chris is going the night before! Where are you staying if you don't mind me asking!?

I don't know where to stay just yet, looking into that at the moment.

I'll be happy to post about where I stay, good or bad.

  14. I am planning a trip back to the uk in mid February, and I would like to spend the day in london, taking my Fiancee through a dry run of the medical and Embassy locations. My Noa2 should be in February also.

Can anyone tell me where the medical sites are located in london, I know where the Embassy is.

I am a former Brit postman who was located in Harrow, so address and nearest train station is all I require.

    Thanks in anticipation.

    Knightsbridge Doctors

    4 Bentick Mansions

    12-16 Bentick Street

    LONDON

    W1U 2ER

    Bond Street Station

Just near there in Marleybone High Street the is a branch of Snappy Snaps, great to get the US standard photographs needed for interview. Don't waste money taking one of these for the medical as they will just cut it down to British size.

  15. I'm a really bad fiancee that waited WAY too long to send out Christmas presents. I sent them on December 13, but was still told by the guy at the post office that it would take 4-10 days putting it there just in time for Christmas...that didn't happen. It's a month later and they've not arrived. So not only am I a bit dumb for waiting too long but I also threw away my customs slip because: 1. I didnt know there was a tracking number on there and 2. I was really busy doing my "I'm so smart, I procrastinated and will get away with it" dance so I had no time for thinking. So anyway, have any of you guys ever had packages really get lost? Is it maybe just on the slow boat to Manchester? It'll probably arrive THERE the day after Andy lands HERE. I think they took it to the Atlantic Ocean, put it on a raft and gave it a gentle nudge out to sea. Oh well, i've learned my lesson just curious to see if this has happened to anyone else.

    Mary

I didn't get my Christmas gift last year, seemingly lost in the post, my fiance didn't keep his reciept either. :crying:

This year a card he posted me just after Christmas didn't arrive either.

  16. Hello everybody, got our interview on the 31st January in London!

Just a question does anybody know everything that is needed for the interview, would hate any delay to be my fault by not taking something.

Any help would be amazing, also how many people are actually rejected at interview stage, we have so much proof. Hoping its the final formality before I get to be with my gal!

    Cheers

    David

Hi David, what time is your interview? I have mine the same day at 9.30.

I'm sweating over paperwork too right now.

I have divorce papers for both of us, birth certificate for him and my adoption certificate, passport, pictures (Snappy Snaps in Marleybone High St near the doctors), I-134(with supporting documents (tax records, employers letter and bank letter), copies of NOA 1+2, copies of I-129F package, updated letter of intent, police checks aand supporting letters, all the originals of proof of meeting sent with I-129F, proof of relationship stuff (phone bills, skype screenshots of daily conversations, emails, more photographs, stuff from a joint bank account we have had for 2 years, some cards and letters we sent each other etc.

I may have missed stuff but I keep adding to the pile.

    Good Luck

    Hi Maggie

Out of interest did you guys put a date for you wedding on your packet 3 checklist before you sent it back? I notice you sent in your p3 just before I did and have already got your interview date. I'm trying to work out if I'm just alone as the unfortunates who sent back p3 early Dec and still haven't received an interview date.

    Hi

I did put a wedding date on my packet 3, I put March 3rd for travel and March 17th for wedding but the interview date they gave doesn't give enough time to get organised in time for that. Lucky for me those were just random dates.

I saw one person who sent in packet 3 after me and got a December interview, gave an earlier wedding date.

I think my packet 3 just missed the Christmas lull, after I fot my date I saw very little here on VJ.

If I was going to do it again I would be tempted to give an earlier wedding date though I have no right to complain about a wait of 18 weeks from filing to interview..
