  1. Hi everyone,

We like to report that the interview went well yesterday 05/06/09 and my wife was approved on the spot. I asked about the stamp on the passport and the interviewer told us that they did not stamp passports anymore, that was done when it used to take months for the card to be make and received. He told us the card should be in our mail box within 2 weeks. Also because we been married over 2 years, no conditional card.

We like to thank everyone in this forum for all the help you provided us, and our best wishes to all that are waiting on cases.

    Special thanks to Diazy =)

  2. Hi everyone,

We went to the service center and asked if we could do a walk-in biometrics today 01/20/1977. We got there at around 3:30PM, the place was empty. We explained to the gentleman at the front desk that my wife had a important test at school that coincided with the appointment. He pointed us to the supervisor and the nice man approved the walk-in. So we are done with this portion of our AOS journey. Now we wait for the rest.

P.S. Hope the people that are missing the bio app get it soon and congrats ridion.

  3. Hi Dancio Mane, hope this helps.

The price for medical examination varies widely from CS to CS. I would recommend calling all CS in your area. The search feature in USCIS web site is very limited, so expand your search.

Some CS include the price of vaccines and some do not. In my case, we went to the county health department to get the vaccines for free.

Hope this saves your some money.

    Cheers

  4. I have a question about the medical exam and my medical records.

I live in the US and i know i have to take a medical exam by a civil surgeon, the only problem is I have no medical records, I mean I have a doctor who has been my primary since i was a baby in London who has records but I don't know how to get in touch with her and how that is going to work? will she be able to send me a copy or email me a copy?

Plus i don't have a vaccination record, last time i was vaccinated was when i was in high school during those four years we had like 3-4 vaccinations done, and they never gave us any paper work for that? and my mom didn't keep track. how would i find this information? or who would have it? Is the vaccination record important? What happens if I don't have it?

    Thanks for your help!

You do not need your medical records. Just find a CS (Civil Surgeon) in your area. Make sure to call all the ones in your area to get a price, prices vary from CS to CS. They will perform the medical examination on you.

The vaccination record is required by the CS in order to fill out your I-693 (Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record). If your unable to find your vaccination records, the CS can provide the vaccinations, usually they charge extra for this. In our case we went to the county health department (ORANGE COUNTY CALIFORNIA) and they provided the vaccinations free of charge (they also give us free flu shots). So you might want to call your county health department to find out if they provide this service.

Hope this helps, best of luck.

Thanks for your help thats really useful, i dont want to go through the hassle of trying to track down my old vaccination records, i guess it would just be easier to get them done again if it is required. that information about going to the county heath dept. is great too, lol save me some money! i need it all for filing! :star:

    Glad we could help.

One thing I notice. The county health dept. gave my wife TDAP and MMR vaccines and the CS was fine with those 2. But if your look at the "Recommended Adult Immunization Schedule for 2009 depending on your age, you might need more than 2.

    http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/PDF/wk/mm5753-Immunization.pdf

Look at page 2, figure 1 to determine which ones you need.

We missed the Varricella one, hope we dont get RFE.

Consult with your CS about which vaccines you need.

  5. I just dont want to hijack something someone else posted.

    Why not?

Don't be nice. This is VJ. That ain't how we roll around here.

I'll try my very best to conform.

Sorry A.J., didnt see your post.

Can we have this post deleted?

    That wasn't my post.

And I don't think it needs to be deleted. Maybe the mods will disagree, assuming they even see this thread (which they may not... VJ mods are notorious for their weekend alcoholism).

no worries this olace is notorious for hijacks and jackassery. You'd think this place is an Al-Qaeda reject camp or something.

Fancypants got kicked out of Hamas bootcamp. Now he trolls the Interwebz talking them up, hoping someone will notice.

Sorry about the re-post Mister Fancypants

I'll try not to do it again

  7. SAN FRANCISCO, Jan 16 (Reuters) - California will not pay state tax refunds for individuals and business that overpaid 2008 taxes, in order to conserve dwindling cash for priority payments including school spending and debt repayment required by state law, the state's controller office said on Friday.

Other state checks to be postponed for 30 days include payments for vendors who provide services and products to the state government and state checks to a million aged, blind and disabled Californians to cover rent and utilities bills, State Controller John Chiang's office said in a statement.

California has been hard hit by the housing downturn and is facing a sharp slump in revenues as the effects spread, pushing the state's current budget into a deep deficit and opening another massive shortfall in its next budget, which begins in July.

The financial market turmoil that has Wall Street reeling is also slashing into California's revenues, which rely heavily on personal income taxes. They are shrinking due to the recession and rising unemployment and because stocks and other assets have lost so much of their value in recent months.

California's budget gap is projected to top $40 billion over its current and next fiscal year.

Various state officials have warned in recent weeks that the most populous U.S. state's coffers would run dry if Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and lawmakers fail to balance the state's current budget.

The governor in his state of the state speech on Thursday said California faces insolvency within weeks if it does not balance its books.

"I take this action with great reluctance," Chiang said in the statement. "I know it will put many California families who rightfully expect their state tax refunds in a desperate position."

"Individuals who already are vulnerable will be hit hard," Chiang added. "Small businesses that don't get paid may have to lay off more workers. Rather than helping stimulate the economy, withholding money from Californians will prolong our pain and delay our economic recovery."

The notice by Chiang, a Democrat, of delayed tax refunds and other payments comes as Schwarzenegger and lawmakers press on with negotiations to balance the state's books.

The talks have been moving a glacial pace as leaders of the Democrat-controlled legislature resist the deep spending cuts its minority Republicans are demanding.

Republicans, whose votes are needed to pass budgets, are resisting proposals for tax increases.

Schwarzenegger, a Republican, has backed some form of tax increase to raise revenues, angering Republican lawmakers, and is pressing Democrats to cut spending. (Editing by Chizu Nomiyama)

  8. Low emissions - well, the bicycle has none, but I on the other hand...

...as for the car that I don't use very often, no, full on hard core polluting monster.

I keep threatening to start riding my bike to work but it is still sitting in the garage with flat tires

    Maybe you should start.

St. Paul, Minn. — A new federal law is now rewarding companies for promoting bike riding by their workers.

The Bicycle Commuter Act was part of the fine print included in the Wall Street bailout that Congress passed last fall.

It went into effect at the beginning of the year -- and can bring companies a $20 tax credit per month for each biking employee. Whether they pass that money on to the employee is up to the company.

Steve Clark of the Twin Cities nonprofit Transit for Livable Communities has been pushing for the legislation. He told MPR's Steven John how it works.

  9. Circuit City did not go out of business, they filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy, which is very different.

Chapter 11 allows a company to hold off creditors while it attempts to restructure its finances by closing stores, laying off employees, etc.

    Did you read the news?

This is what I get for not readying the article. Sorry I was going by some other article I read about 3 days ago. Underestimated how fast the business world moves.

Well they are liquidating the stores and all merchandise, but also speculating they might come back as a online store. Which I think is unlikely with all the great online stores like newegg, amazon, etc.

Personally I never shopped at Circuit City, but might stop by and see what they have for sale.

  11. Reading this post seems to me that your son is in the military. He will be eligible to become a USC after 3 years of service. Why not have him petition for you then.

    Just my 2c.

Son, when he becomes a USC, can apply for Dad as an Immediate Relative. However, USC Son petitioning for Filipino sister will take 23 years. Best route is for Mom to file separately for Dad and daughter.

The OP's situation is unclear to me. His wife either filed one I-130 application for him (and not their daughter) or he is following based on his wife's employment visa. Either way, his wife needs to file for their daughter to protect her. She will benefit from the Child Status Protection Act (CSPA). Wife can upgrade the applications when she becomes a USC. If the application is redundant, then it only cost money. If the application is necessary, then daughter has an opportunity to immigrate to the US.

Web62000, you need to see an immigration lawyer.

What form(s) did your wife file?

I should have clearer in my post.

I was suggesting keeping the current application for dad and daughter with wife as the sponsor.

But if the son becomes a USC and if this route is faster; the son could apply for the father. The daughter would remain with the wife's application.

As Aaron2020 the situation is unclear to me.

Maybe you could give us more details. Or as Aoron2020 see an immigration lawyer.

  12. 1. Separated each package

    2. Have a main cover sheet stating the different packages

Have separate cover sheets for each package and list all the items in the package

Thank you for sharing your cover sheets. They are very helpful!

Did you put each package/application in a separate envelope or folder to keep them separate?

    Thanks for clarifying!

I used ACCO fasteners on each package and used paper clips to attach checks / passport photos
