  1. We had our civil marriage on 23rd february 2008. and the religious one on 22nd of august. the difference is because we wanted to have the marriage certificate and file ASAP, but I didnt want o be a winter bride. and also preffered to have some time for preparation of his baptism, the dress, the reception, his folks to have time to book tickets in advance and so on. we consider the religious ceremony to be the real marriage, when we exchanged rings and been blessed. for both events my husband was here for like a week, but u know the stressed time around marriage. so basicaly we had 2 weddings and no honeymoon yet. had to pick between him taking more time off once and have aa honeyweek, or take shorter time off more often. picked the second on. so he can visit once at 2-3 months, a weekend and 2 extradays. is very short, time flies, but helps a lot. we've known eachother, living over skype, developing ways to comunicate over ocean since 2005. I wont touch comp for months when i get there!

  2. thank u very much for advices. he was out hunting for cards, i was here asking, and at the end turns out the lab provides codes they can use to call long distance US to US, can use it anytime, and at the end u get a bill on how much u spent. so, let the calling begin. is funny how a lil thing like this can turn a calm woman like me in a hysterical. the long waiting before, the excitement we r finally moving on, and then this! seems all this process turned me in a freak. i feel like those ppl who been attacked by a tiger and now they freak out when they see a cat. i develop processing phobia

  3. I am talking about a card with a code.then on a landline u dial that code before dialing the number where u call, and it wont charge the landline, will charge fom the card. i asked this because he could use it to call from lab landline. he went to convenience store and the grocery store in his area, and he didnt find phone cards like this for long distance in USA phonecalls. he only found phone cards with specific offers (for international phonecalls, for a specific country). i know all this sounds dumb, i couldnt believe my ears when he told me. not to mention the area there isnt rich in options,as in an institute complex at 40 mins to DC. thats why he doesnt have landline home either. is institute housing, and they didnt instal landlines in residential buildings. he didnt bother to get a home phone because well move from there when ill (hopefuly) arrive

  4. oh, we r in big trouble. seems the AVG doesnt recognize my husband's cell phone. he said he had this problem before. when they ask press key 1, for example, he does, and system doesnt take it. for a phone he pays 200$ every month, thats just not cool. he doesnt have a landline home, and cant make long distance phone calls from work. for USCIS he was calling from work landline, but was a 1-800 number.

did anyone have a similar problem? he has coleagues who offered their phones to call, but not only that is long distance and u r on hold for a while, but is a number he'll have to call too often for this to be a good solution. does anyone know if there r phone cards or somth u can use on any landline, and to charge from the card and not from the landline? I cant believe we r out of VSC and a freakin phone is in our way. I just cant believe. is such a stupi situation that I dont know if to laugh or to cry about it.

if SraCastillo didnt get any news yet, I think is fair to think our file isnt there yet either, because we had approval same day at VSC. so we didnt slow ourselves because of phone yet, but we have to find a solution ASAP!

  6. Narina, seems if u follow shortcuts and u r on top of the situation, at NVC u really have some control. look at CJ-Vasani timeline. in 2 weeks hes almost ready with NVC for CR1. for K3 they sheduled his interview at beginning of april, so if everything goes well, he can change the K3 interview for a CR1. doesnt hurt to go both ways same time, and see how things work out. keep options opened. he's my guru now, and I really hope we can go fast through NVC too. but is a bad time now for us, with holidays and all. and my husband will be here from 23rd dec till 4th of jan. so in that time we'll be in stand by. only thing well be able to do will be call or pay some things online, but not send any package. still, I am happy we r out of VSC

  7. Nessa, why dont u make him a deal? he joins u in birth room, u name the child together. u go in there alone, u pick the name u like and he respects yr decision how u respect his decision to wait outside. i know i might be considered nosey, but is just my idea. or is the child of both of u in all moments, beautiful or difficult, and u decide everything together, or u get more saying because u go through some of those moments alone

  8. I already spent Christmas without my husband for 2 years. this year will be different. hes coming to visit. is his first year as eastern orthodox, so he said hell spend it here. last year he spent it home at his parents, and came here for New Years. for us, those who r the ones to immigrate, Christmas and holidays in general will always be a difficult time. last year i missed my husband, next year ill probably be with him and miss my family...so, even if he'll leave alone after it, and Ill still be here waiting, this year Christmas is somehow a bless for me. Ill have him and my family. having yr 2 families on 2 different continents isnt easy, and we all knew what we r getting through from the beginning. at least this year is easy. there is no other way to be together but him coming. as i see it, for the rest of our lives will be difficult. christmas is only one, and well always have to decide we visit his family or mine.

merry christmas to everyone, and long live the skype. is how we spent last christmas. with laptops and webcams on the whole time, i saw his family, he saw mine, i had a place at their table, he had a place at mine, they had a gift for me there, we had a gift for him here, sometimes we listened their music, sometimes they listened ours, and so on...we just couldnt taste eachother's food and drinks (and me and my husband couldnt taste eachother, but pretended to kiss under mistletoe)
