    LOS ANGELES – Michael Jackson, the sensationally gifted "King of Pop" who emerged from childhood superstardom to become the entertainment world's most influential singer and dancer before his life and career deteriorated in a freakish series of scandals, died Thursday, a person with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press. He was 50.

    The person said Jackson died in a Los Angeles hospital. The person was not authorized to speak publicly and requested anonymity.

    The circumstances of his death were not immediately clear. Jackson was not breathing when Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to a call at his Los Angeles home about 12:30 p.m., Capt. Steve Ruda told the Los Angeles Times. The paramedics performed CPR and took him to UCLA Medical Center, Ruda told the newspaper.

    Jackson's death brought a tragic end to a long, bizarre, sometimes farcical decline from his peak in the 1980s, when he was popular music's premier all-around performer, a uniter of black and white music who shattered the race barrier on MTV, dominated the charts and dazzled even more on stage.

    His 1982 album "Thriller" — which included the blockbuster hits "Beat It," "Billie Jean" and "Thriller" — remains the biggest-selling album of all time, with more than 26 million copies.

    He was perhaps the most exciting performer of his generation, known for his feverish, crotch-grabbing dance moves, his high-pitched voice punctuated with squeals and titters. His single sequined glove and tight, military-style jacket were trademarks second only to his ever-changing, surgically altered appearance.

    As years went by, he became an increasingly freakish figure. His skin became lighter and his nose narrower. He surrounded himself with children at his Neverland ranch, often wore a germ mask while traveling and kept a pet chimpanzee named Bubbles as one of his closest companions.

    In 2005, he was cleared of charges he molested a 13-year-old cancer survivor at Neverland in 2003. He had been accused of plying the boy with alcohol and groping him. The case took a fearsome toll on his career and image, and he fell into serious financial trouble.

    hello! anyone same situation? i done my interview @ manila usembassy last may 13 my fiance petition paper PART C Q#2 he forgot to anwer it so the consul ask for a new one with answer but i did not recieved any pinkpaper and the consul didnot tell me if my visa is approved. last may18 i already send the paper personally to embassy. since then no visa came up. huhuhu... is there no definete date when my visa approved? it that be okay if i did not have pinkslip? help.... thanks :crying:

    did you got 221g?there is no defenite date when they are going to release your visa..There are some got their visa 5 days after submitting the documents and some got after 3 weeks,6 weeks..Just enjoy and spend a lot of time with your family while you are in the philippines :star::star::star: ..Goodluck and god bless you always..

    Local residents from the Philippines want to share their culture with others during their first "Pista Sa Nayon," or festival in our town.

    The event is Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Fil-Am Christian Church at 410 Deacon Road in Stafford County. Groups from Washington to Richmond will be on hand to provide music, songs and folk dances. Lunch is free.

    Fil-Am Christian Church of Fredericksburg, will host a "Pagtitipon" June 13, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church, 410 Deacon Road. The event is a gathering of Filipino churches from Virginia and Maryland. The theme is "Pista Sa Nayon," which translates as "country fair, " and features cultural dancing, food and songs. 540/429-9691; filamcc.org.

    I was on the same boat before..I waited 3 weeks till they release my visa..I got 221g or white paper for submittion of additional documents..The USEM,didnt give an exact date when they're going to give your visa after submitting the documents or if its a AR..We called USEM twice,and they always told to my fiance to wait 6 weeks...Too bad we can't talk to the consul about the status of visa...

    Petitioner at K1 Interview

    Sorry if this has been asked before, but, I'm just trying to think ahead.

    Is it important for the US petitioner to be present at the consolate interview for K1 visa? Is it a big deal if the petitioner is not present at the embassy for the K1 interview? The reason I ask is for two reasons. I would love to be there if it is allowed or encouraged. I may not be able to be there for financial reasons, but will be able to go there if visa is approved. If it helps for me to be there, I will make arrangements to make it happen.

    I read in various posts about both the petitioner and beneficiary being at the interview, yet in K1 guides, it says that 90% of petitioners are asked to leave for the interview.

    My fiancee is Philippine so this would be at Manila.

    IMO,i think its a case to case basis..In my experienced,the consul asked me to submit a statement from my fiance on why he was never been married at his age [53] or why he didnt marry the mother of his 2 kids [same woman],the reason i got a 221g..So,if my fiance was there,he could explain about it..I wanted to explain though but i choose not to say anything about it,about what what happened to him and his X,and also i dont think im on the right position to tell the consul about the story behind it..If you think you have enough proof of evidences of on going relationship,and your fiancee knew you well,theres nothing to worry about because questions are all about about you and your fiancee...
