  1. To all y'all my Yankee friends from the North - I'm fixin' to tell ya that ya ain't from Dixie if ya:

*Reckon barbecue is a verb meaning "to cook outside".

*Prefer oatmeal to grits for breakfast.

*Eat fried chicken with a fork and knife.

*Ain't seen nothin' wrong with putting a sweater on a poodle.

*Would rather vacation at Martha's Vineyard than Six Flags.

*Would rather see your son on Wall Street than grow up to get his own TV fishing show.

*Instead of referring to 2 or more people as "y'all", you call 'em "you guys", even both of 'em are women.

*Don't know anyone with 2 first names (i.e. Joe Bob, Billy Ray, Thelma Lou, Billy Bob).

*Get freaked out when them people on the subway talk to you.

*Ain't never seen a live chicken before.

*Say that the Braves ain't gonna be in the World Series no more.

  2. Hi Happy Dancer - You reckon that I believe you either? You and Jom's wife not liking American sausage? Try to think what I'm thinkin' and you'll know what I mean!

    Hey Rob,

I honestly didn't care much for the sausage when I was in the states. It always comes up as a teasing session between me and my SO. I hate the sausage - but I Loooove the biscuits especially the ones with gravy and grits on the side. :D You should try the Longganisa that jom has mentioned. It's a bestseller here in the Philippines.

Awww... I think I might have a problem with the adjustment with food there. I am a huge fan of Filipino food- dried fish, longganisa and toyo! I had to settle with KFC and bread every time I go there. In fact, i have decided, I could live on bread alone when I go there. :(

My wife introduced me to a kind if sausage in the Philippines called LANGGONISA which we eat for breakfast with sunny side up eggs. We found packs in the FIlipino store here and she thought I might like it. I LOVE IT!! It is sweet and just great when mixed with rice and eggs. She is not really a fan of our American sausage, she said the taste is different.

Do go on! I don't believe it, she's just kiddin', ain't it?

  4. Hello everyone,

I have been browsing the forum and have noticed that some people are able to check their case on line without receiving any NOA1 notification.

    How is that possible?

Can someone point me in the right direction.... :bonk:

    Thank you all... :

If their check issued to the DHS has been cleared by the bank, then the case number is at the back of the cancelled check.

Thanks PEPE, since everything is electronic nowadays, I did think about looking in the back of it.

Thanks again...I will check it out

but they ask for the receipt number on the NOA, not the case number

The case number is the receipt number, ain't it?

  5. To all y'all who responded to this topic, I'm much obliged! To y'all Filipinas who are coming to the South and to those already here, go whole hog and I reckon everyone will be in high cotton and will be pure Southern Belles. And to you gentlemen, don't be scalawags now, don't you hear? And don't be like a bump on a log and remember that the sun don't shine on the same dog's tail all the time. Till then, go hog wild now.

Hi there, Bubba. I did not understand some of your Southern slang words and phrases here ... "much obliged" ... "go whole hog" ... "high cotton" ... "bump on a log" ..., etc  Don't you ever speak regular English, boy? :o

Yessir, that's the way I am. But do you reckon I am letting my mouth overload my tail now? Well, I speak that way, every dog should have a few fleas, ya know. And I ain't a good ol' boy for nothin'. :D

  7. My Filipino friends and your loved ones,

What's behind your VJ display name? Please explain the significance or reason why you chose that display name.

For example, my display name is simply my common title in Spanish or Filipino as a single woman plus my first name. How about you?:thumbs:

It's from my name, Robert and my fiancee's, Lee. Furthermore, I'm a southern gentleman and if you are a student of Civil War history ... well, you know what I'm getting at.

  8. Hello Everyone....

IS Not what your thinking !!!!.....LOL (I am sure i get some smart remarks on this one) :innocent:

I think you are thinking of what I am thinking about right now. But I think I ain't been touched since I was in Manila in August, I think. :star: :star: :star:

    Lucky U.... :crying:

I need another trip in Manila then

You don't have to go to Manila just for that, my friend. Beale Street in Memphis can give you a lot of Southern Comfort, if you know what I mean.

  9. I lived in the South before (Euless, Tex. and Tallahassee, Fla.) and based on this experience, I can tell that someone might be from Dixie if:

    1. His favorite stick is his fishing pole. :star:

    2. He thinks that the last words of the Star Spangled Banner are "gentlemen, start your engines".

    3. He does not know who the Vice President is but he knows that Jeff Gordon is #24, Jimmie Johnson is #48 and Dale Junior is #88.

    4. He has 3 kids named Peggy Sue, Betsy Ann and Billy Bob.

    5. He refers to Wal-Mart as going to the mall. :D

    6. He got a ticket because he has a confederate flag as a front license plate. :)

    7. His momma was asked to leave a bingo game because of her language.

    8. His daddy taught him how to fly a kite with a fishing line.

    9. He thinks that the word "megabytes" means a good fishing day. :D

    10. He watches Jerry Springer to see if any of his relatives are in the show today. :P

I agree with ya, the above statements are true. Let me add some, folks, I know you are Southerners like me, if:

*Your idea of a 7 course meal is a bucket of KFC and a sixpack.

*You have refused to watch the Oscars since "Smokey and the Bandit" was snubbed for best picture.

*You are still holding on to Confederate money thinking that the South will rise again.

*You have a picture of Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, or Elvis over your fireplace.

*On your job application under "SEX", you put down "Every night or as often as possible".

*Most of your friends are nicknamed Bubba.

  10. Hi y'all my Filipino friends and your loved ones,

I am new here and I am indeed delighted to sign up with VJ because I believe that I can gather a whole bunch of information here to facilitate the issuance of my fiancee's visa. My fiancee is of Ilocano ancestry and she comes from Moncada, Tarlac.

Anybody here from the South? I am very eager to know if I have lots of Filipino friends here in Dixie. Mabuhay, everyone!
