My husband got his EAD card today! WOW! A lot quicker than we thought. Going to get his SS stuff taken care of tomorrow and see if he can get a DL or if he will need to take the test which means he has to study the book. But either way WE CAN START MOVING FORWARD! WOOHOOO!
Congrads **Love** on receiving your husbands EAD. I am glad you finally got some good news as your process has been such a rough one and I do hope that from this point everything will be smooth sailing. I hope you get that interview letter soon. At least now you guys are able to do something, like get his SSN, drivers license and he can finally get a job. In the meantime try to get his name on as much stuff as you guys can once his SSN arives in the mail.
Thank you....
Yeah we are going to try to do that asap. At the moment all we really have with both names is our bank account and the lease has his name on it. Havent had enough money to do anything else. Any other suggestions?
Your welcome, do you have health, life, dental and vision threw your work, you can add him to that, car insurance, cell phone plan, you can even do something like order a magazine subscription with both of your names, memberships to the gym, movies that kind of thing.

Hey guys how are you? I am on day 22 and I have not heard any word about my decision of my interview, and I am just wanting to know why is it taking so long to hear a decison, and is the Cleveland office backed up right now, and if so has anyone experienced this before and how long did it take for you to get the approval?
-
Thanks BeantownBabe,
Yes it cool until he asks me those two questions, I froze for second..When he asked me why I did not go back, I started stammering a bit, "I was like I..I..I don't know..lol it was kinda funny..and surprisingly he never ask me the questions off the I-485 form, not one and I went over those while we were in the car heading over there. Oh! he also ask me if I would do anything for a green card after asking why I did not go back to my country.
I was a bit surprised because he asked my husband most of the questions, he only ask me like 3 questions or so where I had to get detail about but other than that, my husband, he actually explained why I was a good fit and that our marriage was real. You know when you go to a job interview and they ask you why u are the best candidate for the job, it was kinda like that in a way.
I read somewhere that female IO are more harsh than the male IO, that they deny you for any missing or insufficient information. I immediately thought about you CanadianMade and your case where you said you had an older woman and its true, i don't know if they do it now but before Canadians didn't or don't have inspection documents. Hopefully you will hear something soon.
Congrats Gyspyangel and others for your approval and receiving your actual card.
Hey my October filers,I just got back from my interview and we were approved. Got passport stamped! Yay!!
Here's how the experience went:
We arrived at 7:45a, had appointment at 8am. Got through security check and sat for 5mins and was called in. Here goes-
The officer, Mr Brown, instructed us to this office and told me where to sit and my husband as well. He told us to raise our hand and swear that we tell the truth and we sat down.
He started asking me for me for my passport and EAD or travel document (I didn't apply for AP), and our driver's license,he then asked me how did I enter the United States, he asked if it was 2004 (because my I-94 says that) but I told him I came on a student visa in 2001.He looked at the visa attached to my passport. He saw that my visa expired in 2005 but i didn't finish my program then, I got an extension from the Director at the college, he submitted something to extend my I-20. He then said the school cannot extend my stay, immigration does that. At this point I started getting nervous, then he asked me why I didn't return to Trinidad, man I choked, he caught me off guard, I didn't know what to say, He was like "So you just didn't feel like going back" lol! I wanted to piss my pants..lol He then proceeded to ask for any account information and anything with our names and i handed him our six months banks statement, lease and utility bills. All doing this by taking notes while flipping through pages. He asked my husband then me if we were still at the same address, our telephone numbers and social security numbers and we replied*yes*.
He began starting to ask my husband (USC), where and when we met and our relationship, when we decided to get married. Now, my husband is very intelligent, he is into politics and stuff so HE CAN TALK !! OMG!! lol. He talked about the decisions he made while he was in Atlanta and decided to move to SC and all that.
The the I.O asked me if I had any relatives in the United States, I said I have a brother, he also ask what is your brother's status? He is a permanent resident. He ask me is how he obtained his permanent residence. He was married, now he was only married for 2 and a half years. So the IO was like " So he got his residence through this marriage " Yes..Needless to say, it looked bad at that moment, it looked that my brother just got his green card by marrying his wife and then left her after" but it was just didn't work out. I was extremely nervous at this point. He didn't say but he was implying this.He proceeded to tell my husband that green card fraud is a rampant thing and they need to check up on that, they have systems set up and he can tell by the way people interact with each other such as shaking their legs, moving their hands and moving their eyes etc.. My husband reassured him that our marriage was real and they got into conversation again.
He then said that he is going to approve me today, he took out my I-94 from my passport to show that I came in the United States legally and I need to remove the conditions in 2 yrs and they do this just to check up on the marriage before approving long term permanent residence. My husband thought I did such a good job on filing that he asked him how do you apply for the these type of jobs.. (My husband is something) He actually wrote down a website and give it to me. Could you believe that? Other than that, it was a good experience, it was like a regular conversation you would have with someone you met.
I want to thank everyone for their support and help towards my journey and I will definitely stick around when its time to remove conditions and citizenship. Also experiencing everyone good news and being supportive toward them as well.
Hope all the upcoming interview go well and CanadianMade, I'm praying for you, I hope you get some news and please contact them , I believe they have 30 days to make a decision. HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY EVERYONE!!
Just wanted to quickly say Good Luck today, Sweets!!! Look forward to the story! How exciting!!! Even though you say you choked a bit, it seemed like a good interview! Congratulations, I'm very very happy for you! Thanks for all the positive energy over these past months - we've all needed and appreciated it! No get your behind back home to Trini and REALLY celebrate!!!
So I called USCIS last Friday and they said that the card production for EAD was ordered and that we should receive it within 2 weeks (praying). AND today we got the biometrics letter for the AOS (March 11th)......I am wondering why they have to do one for AOS and one for the EAD.....Why not just use one for both? Not like his finger prints would have changed since then. Anyway its a good sign anyway. Hopefully this means we are on our way to an interview date within a month or 2. *praying even more*Sending interview vibes for you!!!
Thank you SweetnSexc, yeah it seems to me the female IO are much more strict and pettier than the male IO, the woman was older and was an indian lady who barely spoke English, like seriously, how can they have someone be an interviewer who doesnt speak good English,, you wonder how she got her green card. I have nothing against Indian people at all nor anyone of any race, colour, or country, but damn someone who didnt speak English throws me. I really do hope I hear something soon and it is so rediculous that we have to wait this long to hear an answer. I could live if the woman told us if it was an FBI name check, something, but didnt tell us a damn thing. All I found out since contacting our congressman is that they case is with the supervisor for review. It was very generic the letter and it kills me that they tell people these things and its not something that we didnt already know. Its also a problem because we had plans to go to Canada and I also planned on enrolling into school this summer, so I have no clue, I was told to wait another 60 days then I can do something. CONGRADS to you and glad you dont have to experience this bullshit I am going through right now at the end of the process.

Hey guys. well as you guys know, I am in limbo with USCIS and waiting on a decision from my interview on Feb 3 2009. It has been 21 days since and havent heard anything from USCIS. My wife and I contacted our congressman here in Ohio name Steven LaTourette, and sent in our request to find out information about our case. I got a letter in the mail from them, and the letter says " Thank you for contacting me about the problem you are having with USCIS. I have contacted the appropiate officals at the USCIS to express my interest on your behalf. I have been told that your application is currently pending Supervisory review and a decision should be mailed out in 30-60 days. If you haven't heard from them in 60 days, please contact us in our District Office"
I think that is the most generic letter, I have ever read in my life and that doesnt say much at all that we didnt know. I dont even know what to think of this, and if they actually did any investigating at all. What do you guys think of this?

Green card received in the mail today!!! Yay! I can't believe I'm done with this process for a couple of years. After obsessing about it for almost two years, I feel free to get on with my life.
Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences and for the all the great advice. It's all so helpful and it's great to have company on the immigration emotional roller coaster.
CONGRADS Gypsyangel on getting your green card in the mail today.
. Now you will be able to go back and visit your friends and family in Canada and be stress free from USCIS for a couple of years. I am still waiting on my decison it has been 21 days and getting more and more pissed by the day lol. I havent been back to Toronto in a very long while and want to go back so badily to see friends and family. I hope it comes soon.

With my experience, the IO didnt get my EAD too, what he took from me was my I94.
Did he let you sign some papers?
a. reminder about the I751 that we have to do it 90days before its expiration and that they wont remind us again.
b. its like a waiver saying you are not involve in any terrorism or other things and all....
i guess those are indication that you were approved. so even if he didnt verbally say it getting the I94 and letting you sign the reminder would mean you are good to go...
also i received my Welcome Letter 5days after the interview.
so i think you can make an infopass already....
i hope the info somehow would help.
Hello,
You may have to wait alittle while before you do anything. After my first AOS, i waited 6 months before anything. The IO said that everything was ok, and if she needed anything else, they would request it by mail. She never took my EAD either. However, i was called for a second one and this time the IO took the I94 (hopefully that is a good sign) with no verbal approval...i just have to wait.....
You had to wait 6 months to hear something, now that is rediculous, I think 6 months is a long wait to be honest to sit there and not inquire about it. I dont get that, at your 1st interview, you were told everything was ok and if they needed anything else from you, you would hear something by mail. I didnt have an I94 as Canadians are issued it nor required to have it when crossing into the US and I came to the US as a visitor. What happened at your 2nd interview and it seems like you are approved to be honest.

No I didnt sign any papers nor was told anything about removing conditions. I came to the US as a visitor and as a Canadian we are not issued nor required to have an I94. I am thinking I will make an infopass appointment and obviously what you are saying arent good signs of an approval because it has been 20 days and heard nothing so I dont know what that says.

Hey guys how are you? I had my AOS interview on Feb 3 2009 in Cleveland, OH, and since then, I have not heard any info about my decision, is this normal and has anyone experienced this before? All I was told at the end of the interview was "If we need anything from you, we will notify you by mail. I was not given a verbal approval or anything, nor was my EAD card taken away from me. I have no clue what to think and I am frustrated like hell not knowing the decision?
Any thoughts or opinions on this matter?
Give it ten more days and make an infopass appointment to get an update.
Thank you my friend for the advice and I am highly thinking about doing an infopass appointment.
I would say go ahead and schedule an infopass, it takes time to get an appointment. you can always cancel it if you do get an outcome earlier
Thank you for the advice and I will certianly plan on making an infopass appointment.

That sucks ball$ Canadianmade - keeping fingers and toes crossed for you.
Looking at the list of potential problems someone posted earlier we are in for quite the ride.
15 years age difference, I've a previous marriage and had a previous greencard. Oh dear. At least we have a morning interview - 11am.
Still, if they kick me out, they also lose my wife as we will have to go back to Ireland - someone who is in the top 5% of her class with straight A's in law school and winner of the President's scholarship award to go to college. At the moment they should be trying to hold onto people like that.
We have stacks of evidence both from after we got married and the 3 years we lived together previous to that. We just realized we have ####### all photos of us together since we got married as we live far away from friends and family. So at the wife's Dad's birthday party the other night we got loads of pictures taken with her Dad and other family - and one in front of the biggest darn American flag I've ever seen ... just to be sure.
All we can do is leave it up to the examiner I guess - kinda unfair but there you go ... what has been fair about this whole situation so far?
Good luck to everyone in there up-comings and congrats to all recent approvals.
It would be good if we could keep some kind of database of all the questions people were asked during the interview so others could be prepared.
R
Thanks alot Eli, man o man my friend, I have no clue what is going on, and I am wondering, if I did something to someone and I have no idea and karma is bitting me in the #### lol. Thanks my friend for the good wishes and I am dying to know the decision, so everything is up in the air with USCIS. I am sure it will be sweet in the end, but looking at the card also will give me a constant reminder that it took forever. To be honest, it is hard to be a cheerleader and to see others have a smooth process and get their approvals and green cards, this is all in frustration. I do wish everyone well and glad to those who got their green cards and approvals. Inregards to you my friend, I think the age difference might play a role in your decision, but then again, there are so many people who are doing it nowadays and have been. Honestly, if they read in between the lines, you are from Ireland, why would you come here to get a better life, if life is the same there, I couldnt imagine they would deny you, and you only came to the US to be with your wife and for love thats it. I think you will be good for your interview and you will get the approval. All you have to do is tell the truth and explain the situation and you should be good. It is unfortunate that the interview examiner has peoples faith in their hands, and can make or break a case. I think what you proposed is a good idea and it would be cool to see something like that.

Hey guys, still no update on my decision of my interview. It has been 20days and still havent heard an f***in word from USCIS, this is extremely frustrating, I guess my file is collecting dust somewhere or purhaps being used as a coaster lol. I have 10 more days for it to be a month. People who have had their interview later than I did still got there green card before I even heard back from USCIS, riduclous. Anyways will let you guys know, if we heard anything from them and I surely dont wish this on anyone, and USCIS is totally wrong to do this to people.

That is ok Rosie and thank you kindly for trying and searching for that info, I greatly appreciate it. I will definately take that advice you just mentioned about if I dont hear anything by the end of the month, oh I will absouetly raise hell, I am not kidding around, I think this is absouletly ridiculous and messed up to have people be in the dark like this. I really dont remember the name of the IO, but all I know is she was an older indian or pakistani lady. Thank you so much for talking to your friend and asking for that info about their experience that applies to our experience, it is very helpful and good to hear that I am not the only one who has gone through this. I will take that advice and start putting some action into play and harass the hell out of these people. I just responded to a thread in the AOS thread, this couple had their AOS interview on Dec 10, 2008 I believe and they still havent heard anything about their decision from the interview in 10 weeks, no verbal approval nothing, I believe they are from the U.K., unbelievable and they are in Seattle. This is an example of cruel and inhumane treatment from USCIS, I cant believe it and I am on day 16, lol sometimes I have to lol but its not funny at all, its crazy. Thank you Rosie honestly, and I know you will get approved at your interview and wouldnt wish this ####### on anyone.
Trust me, if I would be in your same sitauation (and I might be, a couple of weeks from now..) I would be very upset myself. Consider my future job depends on the fact I get my Green Card in a timely manner, so it would be very frustrating not knowing what to expect, or what to say to my possible future employer!
My friend is from Germany, and her application took 2 years before she was called for the interview. When she went, they told them they forgot to file a form (she couldn't remember which) and they had to start all over from scratch. Consider they never received an RFE! At that point her husband stood up, asked to talk to a supervisor and they let them file the missing form right there, but they didn't approve them at the interview. A month goes by and she still hadn't heard anything, so her husband started to be really upset and called and called and called until he got a hold of the officer that was on their case, and a week after the phone call, they received the Welcome letter in the mail.
Even if you don't know the name of the officer, I would still try to call and get a supervisor, or better, go there on Infopass and ask for the officer that interviewed you or a supervisor. It can't hurt
Thank you Rosie, and yeah I am on day 17 lol with no news. Yeah we are quite upset about the whole situation because again its totally wrong and cruel to leave people hanging. It also doesnt make it very healthy because eventhough I am here legally and I am able to work and stuff, I am technically considered to only have the right to work nothing else. I do want to get this green card to travel to Canada with my wife and start school this summer. I believe you will get your green card in time for your new prospective employer and I think that puts alot of pressure on you to have to have the green card for this job. I think it is so terrible what your friend had to experience and I dont blame her husband for getting pissed off about not knowing anything and good for them for pushing the issue and getting approved, we are definately going to bother the hell out of USCIS. I also never got a RFE in my process at all, so I dont know what it is,and I am assuming the indian lady who interviewed us had to get a supervisor to review our case, but it still shouldnt take this long. I am thinking by the end of this month, if we dont hear anything we will have to make an infopass to find out our status. I think it sucks they have lead us to believe that everything was going smooth and I got my appointment really fast and I have zero complaints on this, but at the end, we are still left wondering whats going on. I would be really insulted if they told us to come back for an 2nd interview because of this woman, and honestly if they felt we were a fraud or something, I am more than sure they would have suspected that and told us right there and then we have to come back in for a 2nd interview and made us stay longer than 25min. I just hope they are busy and backed up or something, but you would think they would finish what they started with the person who conducted our interview would give us your decision and move on to the next person, not drag it in the dirt.
welcome to america letter arrived todayCongrads Alxmrt for getting your welcome to america letter

I understand Rosie and for sure maintaining a job is the most important, I did mean the warm weather being bonus. Absouletly this is very inhumane, I would think, if you already had your interview, that you should at least know your faith at the interview or at least within a week or so, or something. I wasnt given any hints or anything to work with, so we are here in the dark with nothing to work on. Thank you so much for willing to research what you mentioned and I really would love to find this info out because this is really rediculous.
I found the source but it was for Naturalization, not for the Green Card, sorry
If I were you if I don't hear/receive anything by the end of the month, I would schedule an Infopass. Do you remember the name of the officer that interviewed you? That might be helpful. I have a friend who waited about 1 month without hearing anything (I just asked her because I remember it took her a while..), then her husband (US Citizen) started calling, faxing, emailing and requesting information always mentioning the officer that interviewed them and sure enough, they probably got tired of the nagging and finally approved them. At this point I would stop waiting and would start bombarding them with requests

Yeah, I just called to make sure I'd tried all the hoops.
I wasn't told I was approved or denied, just that we'd find out in 2-3 weeks. The officer seemed to be positive, though. I've not changed address and I'm pretty sure the mail should have been delivered okay. I'll schedule an appointment.
There is no point in phoning the 1-800 line they are not USCIS officers they are a call center. Make an infopass appointment use any reason that will give you an appointment. it is coming up for 3 months since your interview. Most people have their greencard within 2 weeks of their interview. Were you told you were approved at the interview? you say your last touch was Dec 17th have you changed address at anytime or have you had letters from USCIS returned to them as undeliverable? You need to find out if you have been approved and if so where is your greencard?
Do not wait another month or more.
Hi savethispatient, first of all, I am so sorry you guys have to experience being in the dark, with no news after your AOS interview for 10 weeks, now that is very inhumane and very wrong in my opinion to make people wait that long to hear something. I am on the same boat as you guys are, it has been 16 days after my interview and we still havent heard anything about our decision. All we were told at the end of our interview was "if we need anything from you, we will notify you by mail", thats it nothing to work with or no decision was made. My wait doesnt compare to your wait time at all, but if I were you guys, I would make an infopass appointment and write your congressman about your situation to find out your decision and give you guys a peace of mind. You guys should have already of heard something from USCIS and should of already had your green card. I think this is totally unbelievable and an outrage that they would do this people. I think its totally messed up that many people get the verbal approval and get the emails hours after their interview and others have to wait like you, I and other people to hear a decision. The system is totally broken, and inconsistent. I would raise bloody hell, if I were you about this, and honestly it shouldnt take that long to make a decision on someones case. Good luck to you guys and I do believe you will win in the end and let us know what happens.

Oh ok I think it is so terrible you have to worry about your job in this crappy economy. I do hope you do get this opportunity in San Diego as the good news is its alot warmer there than Chicago. Yeah tell me about it, it is totally inhumane to keep people in the dark about their decision and it is so irritating. I do hope to get some word soon and I will definately inform everyone any news I receive. Thanks for the support. Good luck to you on your interview and you will be fine.
Yeah, I consider the warmer weather to be a "bonus", but right now I am more concerned to be able to keep working
It is VERY inhumane they still haven't gotten back to you. I do believe I read somewhere they have a certain time to respond, and beyond that time they HAVE to give you an answer one way or another, but I can't remember where I read that. Let me make some research..

Thanks alot Rosie and nice to hear from you again. I am sorry to hear what is going on in your current job and I do hope you do get that job opportunity in San Diego, what position is it you are going for if you dont mind me asking? I do hope to get my green card and tommorow I am on day 14
Thank you so much Canadianmade. I will be going for the same position I am right now, just a smaller office so I will probably do more than a specific task like I am doing now. I'm in the shipping industry so in the end it's all the same stuff
I can't belive you're still left there hanging. I am so sorry about this and I really believe good news are on the way to you, but it's really cruel the way they keep you hanging.
Keep us posted if you have any news (even a little "touch" on your application).
Rosie-Sorry to hear about your job situation..but everything will work out..its in your favor.
Thank you so much SweetnSexc! I really appreciate it

Sorry to hear that Canadianmade - it's like inhumane treatment to just keep you guys in the dark and waiting like this! Seems to me that out of the blue you will just get word via e-mail that your greencard is on it's way. At least I hope that's what will happen. I just can't believe you STILL haven't heard one way or the other. Un-freakin-believable! I keep saying it, keep ya head up!
Tell me about it Beantownbabe, I dont know what to say anymore honestly, I dont understand why it is taking so long to hear a correspondence from USCIS about our decision, I mean I think we do at least deserve that and not keep us in the dark like this, I dont wish this on anyone honestly. I am really hoping it wont be bad news but good news and I do want it to be one of those things that I hear my decision 6 months later, I would go through the roof if that happens and day by day I am thinking that is what is going to happen. I hope everything will be for the good but this has to be very unnormal to have to wait this long for a decision, we had nothing to work with at all, no time frame nothing. I admit I am abit jealous but happy that everyone in here got their approvals and got their green cards and welcome to america letters, I wouldnt wish this on anyone. Actually we have decided to write our congressman and sent it by mail this morning to find out something, I mean this is redicilous. The memory that sticks in my mind and I find the funniest is the lady who interviewed us insinuated that I came into the US illegally because I didnt have any stamps in my passport, well Canadians usually dont get stamps on our passports if you are arriving by land border and Toronto is 4.5hrs away from Ohio lol, unbelieveable. Thank you for continuing to support the both of us and will let you guys know when we find something out.
I can certainly understand the mixed feelings when people are lucky enough to have had a smooth ride - it's perfectly normal and anyone here would agree! We can all sympathize that's for sure. I don't think it's the norm either to have to wait like you are doing and like you said, with no timeframe. It's cruel, that's what it is! I think it's a good thing that you wrote to your congressman and hopefully that will give you a little luck and spur your approval letter to mysteriously turn up! Well, no-one knows what the hold up is, but it would only take a bit of checking around to know that you don't need stamps when you come from Canada. You'd think that someone doing that job would/should know that, right? Like I said though, who knows what the hold up is. I read somewhere that you can get held up a little in the name check part of things - maybe that's what it is...We could go round in circle and still never know so you're just going to have to hurry up and keep waiting for now. I wish I had words of wisdom for you, but I just don't know what these people are up to! Keep dreaming of Canada though, cos you'll be visiting soon enough!
Yeah I have no clue what it is and you would think whatever it was, I would be told what to expect or be given some sort of signs something. It is absouletly cruel indeed to make people wait so long to hear a decision after the interview, I think there should be a rule that you should at least know at the interview or at least 2 weeks after the interview of your decision. I do hope that letter to the congressman will spark the asses of USCIS and give us some answers and approve our case. I am pretty down because my wifes and moms b-day is on the same day, Feb 24, and we did have plans to go down there to celebrate their birthdays together, but that is obviously looking like that wont happen
. They should know the answers of circumstances of each countries, and honestly how can someone from Canada or anywhere else come into the US illegally that is so impposible. I guess they think I swam across Niagara Falls to Ohio or something. I am envious that some peoples process was smooth sailing and for a minute mine was as well but it got derailed for some unappearent reason. I mean 15 days to hear a decision is insane, like that doesnt help with a couples psychie at all n nor does it give anyone the opportunity to know or prepare for whatever the decision they made. I have no clue what it is and I am really pissed about it, I would think since they do this as a living they would put themselves in the immigrants and spouses shoes if it were them, but obviously theirs reality and not reality, they have no idea what people endure as they dont know them and only sees them once in their lives for 20min. I do hope we will get approved and as soon as I get my greencard we will go to Canada. Thank you Beantownbabe and I hope you dont have to go through this honestly. Congrads to all the Approvals and for those who have been waiting patiently I am so sorry you have to go through so much ####### with USCIS and things will look up, I know a tiny bit of how it feels.
