  1. My friend NOW HUSBAND came to this country in August to visit for the first time. We met and sparks flew! About 6 weeks later he spent the rest of the money he had to live on for the next month on my engagement ring and on Nov. 1 we got married. He was scheduled to leave Nov 14.

His stay on the VWP was up Nov 28.

We started getting the papers together, but we had to get birth cert, divorce papers and police report from Australia. It took us three months to assemble (mostly waiting for forms from Australia).

We sent them in on Feb 28. We have not had any troubles so far. Things have been pretty routine and smooth. The overstay I understand they forgive because you are in the act of filing for AOS, and once you file the AOS unless you file for AP, you HAVE TO STAY here or you abandon your applications and have to start all over again.

I hope everything works out for you and wish you both much luck & happiness!

Keep me informed of how things go for you! Its a long stressful journey, but you'll get thru!

  2. MSC is the Missouri Service Center aka National Benefits Center. We got 3 I-797's 1 for each (I-130/I-485/I-765) and had an RFE from there for his medical exam BUT STILL NOT TOUCHES!!!!

I try to tell myself everyday that I shouldn't be discouraged and maybe I will be one of those lucky rascals who gets a phone call from my husband to say WOOOOHOOOO got my EAD LOL!

I try to NOT check the website, but I can't help myself, I am not a patient person at all and waiting is TERRIBLE as you all know!

I am so greatful for my Visa Journey family!

Ms. Beth is the best for starting this post. Its nice to talk to people who have a grasp of what you are going thru, and who are positive and helpful!

Hope everyone has a great day

  3. I posted this as a question and then it dawned on me. . . .I have a group of people in my same boat who could maybe help answer this for me .

Everyone talks about seeing "touches" on their cases and I am wondering if I am looking in the right place.

I login at the USCIS web site where you have to put in "Customer" from a drop down menu, and then our login name and password.

Is this right? I mean is this where you all see touches on your cases. We only show that they received the case on March 4 2009, they do not show that we received a biometrics appt notice, and they do not show the RFE we received. I have called several times as well and that doesn't make touches show either

I just would like to know if I am actually looking in the right spot. I know everyone states that they don't keep the system up to date very well, so I was hoping that maybe I could look some where else. . .

Any help you can offer would be appreciated.

  5. GUILTY GUILTY GUILTY of surfing this site more times a day than I care to count OR ADMIT! LOL

This and the most useless USCIS CRIS system (even though I KNOW they don't update it, I guess I keep hoping for the miracle)!

I get something in the mail and I immediately run to this site looking for the person who has remotely experienced anything similar to us.

I am very greatful to everyone on here and I feel super excited to know that there are people on here in the same boat, and that we can be support and a source of information for each other!

    Chins up everyone!

  6. WOW I have read the last couple of posts and I do have more information than I am sure they are going to want to see. LOL

How long was it before your case got transfered to CSC? Did it go thru MSC first?

We sent ours to Chicago and then it went to MSC, and now I am just sitting waiting patiently  NOT lol I am trying to be patient, but there is nothing more nerve racking than waiting I guess.

Thanks for this post, I see you post lots of useful information on here all the time "Paris Heart" so I am glad to have a place to come and see whats going on with people in my same time frame!

    Your the best!

  7. We sent in my husbands I-130/I-485/I-765 February 27 2009. I wasn't clear on whether or not to send the Medical exam with it so we sent it without.

We received an RFE last Thursday for the Medical. We had a Civil Surgeon who was walk in only, NO APPOINTMENTS so we went the very next day (Last Friday)

We were the only people there, they took my husband back, drew blood for HIV & syphalis test, gave him a tetnus, mumps, measels and rhubella shot and a TB test and told us to come back on Tuesday (after we paid $280).

We went back on Tuesday they looked at his TB test, said it looked good, my husband signed the I-693 in front of them, they gave us the sealed envelope for USCIS and gave us a copy for our records.

Both appointments took less than 30 minutes TOTAL!

So ours is in the mail on its way back and we are ANXIOUSLY awaiting its arrival so they can process our papers.

    Hope this helps!

So we can send the papers for USCIS before to get the I-693?

You can - but you will get a RFE for it.

Ok - so you have your NOA? If so, your covered status wise.

Yes you can and you will get the RFE BUT AT LEAST ITS THERE!!!!!!! I had one other document I needed but didn't come in time for us to send it with the packet so I sent it in when it arrived with his Alien Registration number and Receipt numbers on it and sent it in after the fact BEFORE they got around to an RFE.

    Much Luck

  9. We just had my husbands medical exam on friday and picked up the papers yesterday.

Our medical exam consisted of a 20 minute appt on friday, they gave my husband a Tetnis shot, Mumps, measels and rhubella vaccination, a TB test and took blood to do an HIV & syphellus test.

We went back yesterday he was there about 10 minutes and they gave us a copy of the papers and the sealed envelope with the documents to send back for immigration.

Very Non-invasive, very painless, and very little time involved. ( on both occasions we were the ONLY People in the waiting room )

I think we may have been very fortunate, don't know if it varies by what country you come from, but ours was fast painless and is now on its way to Immigration.

    Hope this helps

Much luck & happiness to you

by the way ours was $280 US dollars

  10. Do treat each form as if they are separate and I even put them in little zipper bags and wrote his name and what forms they were attached to just in case they get separated.

There are forms that ask for a picture of you (I am not sure what you are filing but we filed the 130/485/765) so be sure to include that with which ever forms ask for it.

Good luck & much happiness to you both

  11. no need to blame the ex you had months prior to your approval to get the papers in order

Please don't be judgmental. You can't get papers together until you know what is required. Once we did, we proceeded. I am not finding blame, just stating facts.

I hope someone is kind enough to give Bean some super comforting kind helpful advice like they have given you NOT! I don't have anything to add other than much luck & happiness to you both & I hope you find more kind people to assist you & don't let the sarcastic mean spirited people get you down

I hope someone gives you as much KIND HELPFUL COMFORTING ADVICE like you are giving here

I don't really have anything to add other than people who get on here to be mean nasty & negative should NOT BOTHER! You had your reasons for the papers taking time to get together. This process is stressful enough without people being mean spirited! I hope this all works out for you & I hope you get some good advice!

  12. Ours all toll was $1365 ($355 for I-130, and $1010 for I-485) The 864 & 864A are included in the filing fee.

We filed The 130 $355, The 485 $1010 (the 864 affadavits are included in this cost as long as filed together), and the 765 for employment ALSO no charge if filed with the 485.

Then you have the medical exam which varies in price from $85 us dollars to $500 (ours was $280 us)

    Good Luck

  13. Just wondering. . . .

We went for my husbands medical exam (we received a pink RFE on Thursday) on friday.

We went to a civil surgeon off the list on USCIS web site. We were the only people there and were IN & OUT.

We have to go back Tuesday for them to read his TB test spot (which has totally disappeared) but is that the only reason we go back? Is there more to the 2nd part of the physical? Will we get his papers to send back to immigration? Not really sure whats up. . . .

They took blood, did the TB test and gave him his vacinations, so is that it?

Thanks for any insight you can give

  14. Is there a way to check the AOS status online?

    Thanks

You can check the USCIS web site, but it's not always up to date. Our I-130 & I-765 show online, but our I-485 does not, so I called USCIS & they made sure our receipt # was valid and was even kind enough to look it up to ease my mind and a that time she told me that the system is not always current. Try the web site to see what info is there & keep in mind you can always call.

    Much luck & happiness

  15. I know this is posted all the time regarding the uscis CRIS online update system but it's always reassuring to hear it again for those of us who panic thinking our cases haven't been touched.

We were told 2 weeks ago that our file was on an adjudicators desk being reviewed for processing (for my husbands EAD). I check EVERY SINGLE DAY (sometimes twice LOL). No changes since the initial receipts (our I-485 does not show online but I was told by the same super nice lady at NCIS that the receipt number is valid just doesn't show up and that this is not uncommon).

Thursday we get a RFE for my husbands medical exam, so we called a civil surgeon from the list on USCIS went on Friday to get this taken care of, we go back Tuesday for his results. We were in and out in 15 minutes.

I checked today, Saturday, & it still says hasn't been touched since 03/12/09 which is the only action ever noted & that was for our first NOA's.

This is such a process & I know I am obsessed with what's going on & I thought I would share just HOPEFULLY to put someone elses mind at ease.

    Good luck to all

  16. My husband came here on a visitor visa, no intentions of staying so we don't have any of that type of information, and paying the $280 is not a problem (due to my very supportive wonderful family), and getting documents from Australia has been quite a chore.

So I should just EXPRESS post the documents when I get them back to the office that sent them!

We are going to go for tomorrow appt (well its a walk in thing) but going tomorrow all the same. Is it just like a basic physical? Normal stuff?

I am a nervous nellie when it comes to this stuff so just like to know what to expect!

Thanks for the replies, they make me feel MUCH better!
