  1. Not sure about the baby, but when we went for our interview, my husband did not have his Florida license ( we were still recovering from the $2000 immigration costs LOL) when she asked for ID she asked us why he did not have it yet, & we just explained it was an expense we had not NEEDED as of that time & she seemed ok with it. Just make sure he takes his passport, EAD, & a honest explanation regarding why he does not have one, you will be fine!

    Much luck & happiness

  2. Very casual questions. Our IO verified the info on our G325 A, asked my husband the questions that were already asked on the I-485. She asked how many times he had been to this country, when & where we were married, asked him my birthday, when & how we met. She then asked to see wedding photos, family photos, asked for the letter from my grandmother about our living arrangements, letter from my employer, nothing unusual. Our IO was super friendly, not the least bit what I expected.

    Best of luck

  3. We adjusted from visa waiver too. Our interview was July 20 in orlando. We took a letter from my grandmother stating that we lived here with her & we did not have a lease, letter from my employer stating my annual salary, lots of photos, copies of every document we sent with our pkt to USCIS birthcertificates, police report, tax returns, divorce decrees, all the forms I-130, I-485, I-765, G-325, I-864,I-864A, I-693. Our IO was super, looked at our ID's, went thru some of our papers, looked at some of our pics, asked us questions off the forms mentioned above, in & out in 20 minutes.

Follow your heart, take MORE than you need, you will feel better for it! We had little in our name at that time too, she never even questioned that. Your newly married like building anything, it takes time to build all the joint accounts. We have only a bank acct in our names & she was fine with that!

    Much luck

    adjusting from VWP.

i will talk to her parents about the car insurance and see if i can be added on and i will look into getting a cell phone plan together. i was just using prepaid for now. time to get a phone plan :)

thanks guys. any more feedback would be appreciated

  4. This is a tough process, I have been thru the process with my husband who is the immigrant. If you need to travel then file for AP if you have not done so, OR leave without it & go back to your home country & let your spouse immigrate their, maybe their rules & process maybe more acceptable to you. It's a long hard road, but it is a privelege to bring someone here, so I am asking you nicely, PLEASE stop bashing the US & the USCIS system, it's only going to make the process seem LONGER & HARDER than it really is. Whoever posted "AP is like them holding place in line" SPOT ON!!!!

I am seeing most of the postings are "take it and shove it" type of deal. I still believe someone telling me when we can or can't travel is not acceptable. Seems as we are accepting it just because it is that way. Not so! and on my interview I will let them know what I think about this..
  5. When my husband arrived here I picked him up at the airport at 11:23p & there was so much catching up to do, (yes cuddling and  well you know) but he is not going to be able to sleep when he gets here. He is going to want to sit and talk just revel in being with you. I prepared myself for our meeting in the airport to not be that big scene that they show in the movies, I mean come on 27 hours on a plane, he never saw night till he arrived in Florida for the entire trip, I just figured he would want a cigarette, a shower and some sleep, but I was totally wrong. It was just like the movies, ran to each other, some cute lil comments about "hey you looking for me" and then the big hug and kiss and couldn't let go of each other for , ok I was gonna say days but we are still like that LOL.

Make him something he likes to eat, myhusband loves kit kats so I had those and nerd rope on hand LOL, had his favorite soda in the fridge, and just made him feel as loved, and welcomed as I could.

Don't stress, it will be great, wonderful, and the most memorable day of your life when he steps off that plane. To be honest you could pick him up in a brown paper bag, with terrible bed head, and he is not even going to remember that.

Actually he will have been here one year on the 29th of August, so we are going to the airport to hang out for the day and watch all the people doing exactly what we did!

I am so excited for you, congratulations and best of luck!

  6. Our IO did not tell us we were approved, I think most don't, but the I-94 was taken! Actually she took it when we weren't looking cuz we didn't realize it was gone till the interview was over. I think there is good news in your future

    Hello Fellow VJ members,

I would like to share my unpleasant experience during my AOS interview. I had my interview last August 04, 2009 at Las Vegas USCIS local office. It happened to be that the interviewer does not speak very well because he was a mexican and i could hardly understand the words that comes out from his mouth.Sometimes i let him repeat the questions huh!His questions was how we met , he asked pictures when we were still dating with my husband (and i showed him bunch of pics when my husband visited me in the PH).He also ask my husband about how many times he got married and where does he work at.Last thing he asked was our pictures during our marriage, date of our marriage and the chapel where we got married.Seems everything was fine but i was just wondering because he did not told me if I was approve. He only get the attached I-94 in my passport and told us "THat's it," we will just let you know. What does it mean? Does it mean that i am not approve?Oh my....i am very confused and worried thinking about this thing. Does anyone has the same experience like ours? PLs...share your experiences and your insights about this matter.Your answers is highly appreciated.

Just think positive. Usually they will get the I-94 if it's approved. Hang in there. :)

THanks sojen for the positive advice:) i appreciate that. I hope everything is just fine regarding with my AOS status.

Usually, they tell you whether you are approved or not. Just like others, I believe you are approved. He took your I94 and that to me is a very good sign.

  7. My husband is from Australia. We sent in to the Australian Federal Police for his report, and it covered all places he had lived. We were doing AOS from VWP trip to US, so his fingerprints were done at his biometrics appointment. You may want to contact USCIS and ask what they advise, since you are going thru the K route.

    Much luck and happiness!

  8. Be on time, prepared, and just be yourself. We just had our interview in Orlando, FL July 20 2009. Contrary to what you read, our IO was very kind, very thorough, & very professional. We waited about an hour & a half past our appointment time, but the time goes by fast. She asked very basic questions any husband & wife should know, asked to see photos, cards, joint account information, asked us about his family back home, had I met them, etc. Very short, told at the end we would hear by mail within 30 days of their decision ( which all everyone wants to hear is APPROVED). But we checked our case status online the next day & it said card production ordered!

    Good luck,

saspak- Hows the baby? Any word on your case?

  9. I am sooooooooo HAPPY FOR YOU! You have waited so long and been such a source of support to so many on here! Congratulations sweeite, I am tickeled for you! And just before you leave for Paris! We got my hubby's green card on Monday so its been quite a week for us all! Congratulations again!

    GOD is soooo good!!!

Wonderful Mariel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! big hug to you my favorite Bruha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. Just a note to thank everyone who was so kind and helpful during this process! We feel very fortunate to have reached this goal in such a short period of time (139 to approval)! Without my VJ friends, and our families we could never have accomplished this.

We got his green card in the mail yesterday and now I am good with immigration for a year and 9 months WOOOOOO  Hoooooo

Now I can step back and enjoy being married to this wonderful man, and put the big book of immigration aside for a bit!

Again thanks to all who helped us, I know some people wait much longer, and have many more bumps in the road than we had, and if I can ever be 1/2 as much help as some were to us on this site, please don't hesitate to ask, I feel like I owe alot for the help and guidance I was given, and if I can give back by helping then I am more than willing.

As I am sure everyone else is when the get to this point, very grateful and relieved!

Much luck and happiness to all!

  11. Congrats! I am very happy for you! Sent you a message yesterday with some of the things he will need from Australia! GOOD LUCK!

We are so HAPPY!!!!! We did it, yesterday we went and got married. My "Husband" Chad is an Australian citizen and is here on a visa waiver. We're not really sure what is the next step. We want to file for a change of status and start the process immediately. His visa waiver is until September 7th. Please is anyone could direct us in the right direction. Some family and friends have suggested that we retain an attorney. Should we try and do that? Is that the best thing to do?
  12. As I understand it, if you missed the interview, the petition is considered "Abandoned", and you will have to re-file, but its a different ball game now because she is in another country. I believe you have to file for a different type of visa, and it has to be done before she can come back to the US.

This is just my understanding, I am sure someone will post that can give you thourough advice to get you through. This site has very helpful members who always come thru.

Best of luck to you and your family.

i need help and advice..... i will get right to the point... i am married to a colombia women how traveled to the united states with her K-1 Visa during her stay we married we both had some problems and she went back to colombia to deal with some personal problems we both have been talking and we both have worked out our problems. How do i get her back into this country... she never over stayed her visa. we filed all her paperwork for her greencard and travel doc's before they arrived she went back home. she also had an apointment date for her green card interview she missed the date and never went. so the bottom line she is in colombia and i am here we are married.. ??????

    Help please

    thanks

    Robert

  13. We also filed the same documents, and had our interview this past Monday. Our I-485 has been approved for CR1 and we received the email stating "Card Production Ordered", but the I-130 still shows pending! Its just the way it goes. Our I-130 has shown pending the entire time our papers were there. We filed in March! I think that is pretty standard, don't worry!

    Hi everyone,

I have been reading tons of information on this forum, and I would like to thank you all for that great source of information.

I am posting a question since I could not find any threads answering it.

My wife and I filed concurrently the I-130 petition and I-485 Adjustment of Status application on May 27th. We also requested the EAD and advance parole at the same time.

Everything is going well so far since we received the NOA letters for every case, a few days only after we sent the package to Chicago. I had the biometrics appointment in Pittsburgh on June 19, and I recently received my EAD card and Advance Parole document. I also received the interview letter, which schedules the initial interview on Aug 11 (only 2.5 months after sending the package!) in Pittsburgh.

However, I am quite surprised that the interview has been scheduled before the approval of the petition (case still pending according to the online case status service, and my wife did not get any approval notification letter for the I130), and I would appreciate if someone in the same situation could share his comments about that.

Also I am wondering whether the interview officer has an access to the documents given along with the I130 petition as proof of a bonafide marriage.

Our relationship is quite special since I my wife and I do not live in the same city right (I plan to move to Chicago in Ocotber though). However we have tons of document proving that our marriage is real.. but it maybe very useful for us to know if there is a probably that the officer did not to take a look at that before the interview begins.

Thanks a lot for your help!
