Moderators can this post be transferred to AOS from tourist & student visa !
I have all the forms (photo copies), copies of all photos since he arrived, joint bank acct info, car registration in both names, letter from grandmother stating we live there (we take care of her so that's why we live with her), wedding announcements, more pages of phone calls than we can count, cards from his family in Australia & mail to us both here, certified copies of wedding certificate, beautiful rings (wedding & engagement) copies of the med exam, divorce docs, & am still gathering stuff! Please advise what you are preparing maybe all of us together will help think of things the other didn't! Nice to know we don't have to go this alone.

Ok Kimberly I will let you know how everything goes.. I am getting all my paperwork ready for that day!

ME too funny! Funny thing is we just had a blow out in our pretty blue immigration folder sides split clean out of it, so I just told my husband the other night we needed a good three ring binder with some page protectors. So today I went to the office store and bought it and when he got home from running errands the letter was there about the interview.
I am going to work myself senseless till then getting everything in order! We have been very fortunate so far the process has been painless and the people at all immigration offices have been very kind and helpful so I hope it continues for us (all four of us!)
Much luck and happiness and I will share the documents I get together (maybe you would do the same) so we cover all our bases!
Thanks very much again and how funny that your papers and ours are so close together and we are in the same area! Too funny!

Ok this has been a relatively short journey for us so far and I just have a question or two. . . .hundred
We filed our package (I-130/765/485) Feb 2009. As you can see from our timeline, we have been thru biometrics, and husband received his EAD last Saturday in the mail. We have gone and applied for his social security card and are awaiting its arrival.
Today we get a notice in the mail they have scheduled an interview for our AOS I-485 application for July 20.
We have never heard anything on our I-130, my petition for him to stay. Is that normal?
We sent them all in the same time, we had an RFE for his medical which we promptly took care of and that was for the EAD.
Do they often skip the I-130? Anything I need to bring other than the 2 zillion documents I currently have prepared? Is there something unusual about this? I am very confused and of course anything dealing with USCIS flips me out
Any help would be very much appreciated. . . .

We went on friday to the CS had the vaccinations and TB test done, went back and picked up the documents on Tuesday and mailed the papers to USCIS!
PIECE OF CAKE NO BIG DEAL! In and out both appointments (the intial appointment we were there about 20 minutes and the 2nd one was about 15 minutes)
-
Thanks! Been feeling guilty so I stayed away! Hope everyone is good & hope you all have a great week.
-
Happy Mothers day to all!

You need to have a medical exam by a civil surgeon. Visit the USCIS web site for a list of approved civil surgeons in your area. They will complete the I-693 for you. Quick painless & you go back in two days for the documents ( they have to read the TB test ) & that's it. Take your vaccination records with you & they will put that info on the I-693 for you to send back to USCIS.
-
That is probably for you to send it back in, the Dr will give you one sealed that you will put in the envelope you received from immigration. Ours came in a large brown envelope that was like one you would get Xrays in maybe. . . But if you have to put them in something larger than they provided I would use the envelope they sent you like a label & just attach it with tape maybe
).
Also you only fill out the first portion about whoever is getting the exam BUT DO NOT SIGN IT! The civil surgeon will advise you when to sign because it has to be done in front of them. Make sure also you take the ORIGINAL RFE & your passport with you (Also make sure you understand the preffered method of payment because the office we went to only accepted cash!)
I hope this helps and if I can be any further help please feel free to send a PM (message) I would be more than happy to help!
Much luck & happiness

We did not understand about the medical exam & got an RFE on a Thursday, found a civil surgeon 15 minutes away from where we live (this office only did walk-ins NO appointments) went on that Friday, got his vaccinations, TB test, HIV/Syphellius test & we were in & out in about 20 minutes. We had to go back the following Tuesday to have the TB test read. We went in they checked the TB test, my husband signed one document, they gave us a sealed envelope for USCIS, & a copy for our records & that appt was less than 10 minutes. Immediately put in the mail, & he got his EAD in the mail today (2 weeks from the day they received the medical exam)
Be sure to send the sealed envelope to them with the original RFE (make a copy for your records) & put the sealed exam envelope inside another envelope they were very specific to NOT OPEN & NOT WRITE ON THAT ENVELOPE!
Hope this helps you it's a very quick thing to take care of

After only 63 days which included an RFE for the medical exam, we got the long awaited email that hubby's EAD has been ordered!
We have been very fortunate to have a smooth ride so far, everyone from immigration has been very kind & helpful!
I am wondering what we will need once his card arrives to get his SS#? To say he is eager to work is an understatement LOL!
Any information you can provide would me much appreciated
-
Also as stated above wait for the RFE & send when requested by certified mail! You can never have to much documentation! My current folder just split so now it's time to upgrade to a 3 ring binder so be prepared LOL
-
Our situation is very similar however we sent the papers (I-130/485/765) without the medical exam because I understood it would be requested later & they did one month after we submitted the docs.
I would send them in ASAP even if you have to do it without the exam so you don't go to long out of status. (it is my understanding that they will forgive a short overstay as long as the documents are sent in ASAP, they allow for the amount of time to gather necessary paperwork).
We received a pink RFE managed to find a Civil Surgeon who only did walk-Ins we were the only people there both days (first day for exam, vaccinations & TB test & the 2nd to have the TB test read and pick up the docs for Immigration)
I hope this helps & if I can give you any more help please let me know. It's a long stressful process so you just need to keep your eye on the prize!
Best of luck & much happiness to you both .

Yes Summer is here, my favorite season of the year, time to get some sun, have a long mini weekend holidays, and most of all, enjoying the long Summer days with your loved ones. The memories we make with our loved ones is the strength that carry us thru these trying times, times of hopelessness, times of mental exhaustion. One day soon, we will all look back at this, and will realize we emerged from it with our loved ones, and stronger mentally.
Have a wonderful holiday. Send me lots of pics, cant wait to see them.
Love to both of you's, all my best.

Saspak I do feel totally fortunate about the amount of time everything has taken. I have read many posts where people have waited months to get where we are. We received his EAD on May 9 & applied for SS number on May 12. It's been a smooth ride do far, hope it all goes as well & hope that you get your interview notice soon!
