  1. yeah its really a tricky question

    thanx for the info

Hello there....I just followed the guide here regarding this question. I did not check either box and put N/A ( K1 visa process for permanent residence)...no problem at the interview at all.

  2. Hello all! We are having a similar problem. Jeel had her interview on March 19th, she passed got the pink slip payed for air 21 but so far no visa delivered. A few friends that she has made here that also had interview on the 19th got thier visas 2-3 days after interview. Jeel only lives about 45 min from Manila so i would not think it is a distance to deliver issue. So my question is....what could be the hold up? Should we try calling air 21 or embassy?

  3. Hi! I am planning to have my CFO seminar the day after of my interview. So, what am i going to bring for the CFO seminar? Your reply is greatly appreciated...Thanks!!!

oh i suggest you wait for your visa and passport first before attending seminar or else you will go back at CFO again for the sticker you need.

  4. This topic reminds me of my brother-in-law in Bohol....he is really shy to speak english around me because he is afraid to make mistakes...until he broke out that bottle of Tanduay Rum....his english was better than mine, after a few rounds...or at least he thought it was hahaha

that was funny!:) i think filipinos are shy by nature despite their abilities or skills whether in english speaking or something else:) Liquor makes wonder huh.

  5. Hi guys and thaks for the added input Laura+Tom. Manumoney, to answer your question regarding how did we handle any arguments or miscommunication...well...We were lucky we didn't have to many times this happend but when it did happen i would not allow myself to get angry or upset. If Jeel needed to blow off some steam i would let her and then do my best to console her after. You have to really be on equal ground and be understanding that this can be stressful for each of you. If yer fiancee is having problems(being bored) maybe you can recomend to her to start compiling a list of friends and families phone # and address and also to start thinking about or listing those things she will be wanting to bring here to the states. It is never to early to start doing those things. It may seem like a long process but it will be interview time before yoy know it and then time to fly. I hope this might help! Good luck!

  6. Since Jeel and I just went through this process ourselves I thought it would be nice to offer help to those who's situation is similar to ours. First of all we both fit into the topic title. Both single never married and both being childless(for the moment!) When we decided to go for the K1 we had no idea where to start or what to do. After doing alot of research there are many options and places to find info. VJ is a great place to start. Use the K1 guide and things will go pretty smoothly. For those who are considering using a lawyer i can't make the choice for you but i would offer my advice that it is not needed. If you have no ex-wife or no children then i would say a lawyer is a waste of money. Also regarding the proof of relationship issues, I sent in a decent amount. I would say i sent 8-10 emails varrying in dates (a few from each year that we have known eachother) I also sent in a few phone bills using the same date range, photocopies of some cards and handwritten letters jeel sent to me, 7 photos of us together during my visit there(family and landmarks in the pics are a plus). I also included copies of my plane ticket stubs and travel details. It seems that once you get to the interview if you sent enough proof with your original petition not much will be needed once there. They did not ask Jeel to produce one single piece of evidence. Please also remember to include photocopies of every single page of your passport(page 1-28) & photocopy of front and back of your birth certificate. You will also need to include a cover letter and a letter of intent to marry from both you and your fiance(e). My last piece of advice is to be patient and to be supportive to eachother during your waiting period. It is hard enough having to go through all this red tape just to be with the one you love in the first place, No need to make it even harder or more stressful. If you are the USC you might want to start making a list of places in your area that you would want to take your fiance(e). Remember, all the places you are used to seeing everyday will be virgin territory for them! Also you can start preparing your home for their arrival as a way to pass the time. I did alot of reorganizing and shopping to make my home more comfortable for Jeel when she arrives. (I had to lose my bachelor pad appearance and make it more lady friendly) ;) . Rest assured, it is a worthwhile experience. If you have any questions that i failed to answer here please ask. If i can't answer it there are plenty of others here who can! Good luck and God bless!!

  7. Congratulations!!! And thanks for sharing your story with us.

Our best wishes to you for the rest of your journey.

    ~ Tahoma & Chinook

thank you so much!!!!! VJ is such a big help to our journey and we would like to be of help to others too thru sharing our experiences:)

Thank sis for posting it... My interview will be on April 2.

yw guys! good luck to your interview:)

    Congrats sis!!!

thanks guys!good luck on your interview :)

    CONGRATULATIONS!

    thank you so much!!!!!!

  8. did the pre-screeners go over the paperwork with you? to make sure everything was filled out right and that you had everything you need?

Once you entered the embassy and will be asked to sit, there are staffs who will check over your documents if they are filled out correctly or if you miss something. They are strict when it comes to the forms if you fill them correctly. Make sure not to leave any blanks.

  9. Hi guys!My apologies for the late report of my interview.I needed a rest after all the stress it gave me,i must say it was very draining. The good news is I am over it and I PASSED with flying colors

I arrived at the embassy around 6am, my interview is at 7am. There was a long line outside waiting to get inside. It is not a first come first served basis. If you come early does not mean you will be finish early. Just be there an hour before your interview schedule.

Once you get inside the embassy, your things will be x-rayed. PLEASE do not bring your cellphones, ipod, or any electronic device/gadgets coz your entry will be denied. Better leave those at home or at your car. You will be directed to go to your specific area, mine is for K1, I took the LEFT WING and I asked the security officer which way should I go for fiancee visa. After left wing, i turned RIGHT and sitted at the blue chairs. There were staff checking on our documents. Prepare your DS 156,DS 156K and 157 together with your two IDs and you will be asked to fall in line for the TICKET BOOTH.Make sure you do not leave any blank on your forms, if your answer is NO then marked it, if it is not applicable put N/A. You should also fill up the question " How Long Do You Intend To Stay In The U.S.?" If you are on K1 visa, write PERMANENTLY. A ticket will be given which you will use for the step by step procedure inside the embassy. The first in line is the FINGER SCANNING. Your names will be called. Fingers should be dry or else it will take long for your fingers to be scanned. After the scanning, will be the PRESCREENING. I decided to go at the washroom first while waiting for my number to flashed for the PRESCREENER INTERVIEW, I was shocked when I hear my name being called. lol. Names are not called for prescreening unless your number flashed a couple of times and you did not appear at the window assigned to you.Gosh! It was so embarrassing. When i heard my name from the washroom, I was in a rush going to Window 17. The prescreeners are all Filipinos. The lady reprimanded me for not paying attention hahahaha. She have no idea I was at the washroom checking on my hair and make up hahahaha.Anyway I was so apologetic of course. LESSON LEARNED: "do not go to the washroom once you have the ticket" Any moment your number will be flashed at the queuing board.

    PRESCREENER INTERVIEW:

    1. WHO IS YOUR PETITIONER?

    2.WHERE DID YOU MEET?

    3.WHEN DID YOU MEET?

    4.HAVE YOU/FIANCE BEEN MARRIED BEFORE?

    5.WHAT IS YOUR FIANCE'S WORK?

That's it. Very easy right? As long as you know your fiance/fiancee well, there wont be a problem. After the prescreening, i have to wait for my number to be flashed again. This time took so longgggggg...the nerves was up to my throat. I kept reminding myself " it will be fine..."A part of you just want to finish it asap and part of you wants to back out hahahaha. Finally my number flashed, 7013 at room 28. OMG! this is it!!!!!!!!! I waited for my turn...and then my freaking turn is now..................

CONSUL INTERVIEW: The consul was very pleasant. He said good morning, was even teasing me " hi mrs.smith!" hahaha, i am not Daniel Smith beau. lol.

    1. WHEN IS YOUR BIRTHDAY?

    2.HAVE YOU MET IN PERSON?

    3.WHEN DID YOU MEET?

    4.WHERE DID YOU MEET?

5.sooooo you are a Professor, you have your Masters Degree, WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO MARRY HIM? ( this one is unexpected question for me but I was able to answer it and he was impressed)

After the interrogation, he was apologetic saying " im sorry i have to ask you these questions, this is part of the interview process..." .:) The good thing is he APPROVED MY VISA.     Thank GOD!Thank you St.Anthony! :) What a relief!!!!!!!

The consul interview only took 5mins:) He said " i see no problem in your application....please proceed at the waiting area, welcome to America!

You have to wait for your number to flash again, I proceeded at window 35 or 37 and was given instruction, need to pay for the courier for the delivery of visa. Paid 215 pesos at Air 21 and went home! That's it!

I hope this post will help other VJ members who are waiting for their interview. I know how stressful it could be, sleepless nights, you get paranoid, you have all these questions in mind, the " what if..." What helped me in this journey is the FAITH we have in our relationship. We believed that God has reasons why he brought us together and He will not turn us down.Prayers keep us going. Joseph and I can't explain how joyful and grateful we are. We will just wait for my visa and have to attend the CFO seminar and gotta be ready to fly anytime next week.

Good luck to you guys! Keep the FAITH.

Thank you to all who helped us in this k1 journey...without VJ, oh my, i dunno what will happen...this site is a tremendous HELP to us.

Congrats dylananddouglas, kevinandlecy,lovingpaul....we have same sched of interview and we all made it:) isn't that wonderful!

  10. This thread should be moved to the Philippines forum.

I bought my fiancee an e-ticket from PAL over the internet. Be sure to check for requirements and restrictions if you buy the ticket, and are not going to be flying with her. She might be able to get a ticket cheaper in the Philippines, but make sure she buys through a reputable ticket agent, or directly from the airlines.

Thanks Mister Bill and to all for the input. I most likely will be buying the ticket but not sure where i would check for restrictions. Do i check directly with the airline or through the website i buy ticket from? At the site the only thing it mentions is additional baggage fees and what is not permitted on flights. The flights i have been looking into would start as a PAL flight to Bejing or Hong Kong and then transfer to Continental Air to NJ. IF that helps with my earlier question? Thanks again!

  11. want to share my happiness, I passed my visa interview just this morning with flying colors. The pre screener was nice, the consul too didnt take 5 minutes inside. she asked my baby's US passport and CRBA certificate. Just asked my name, age, birthday, work of my husband, then thats it. she said your visa is approve.. will travel to to US this coming May 7 PAL. Las Vegas is my port of entry.... thanks to everybody who post their experiences and help a lot to everybody here.

congratulations brianmarie!   happy trip!

  12. were just waiting for that letter to arrive so we can set up interview and have a medical...y it take so long, does anyone here dont have letter yet? OMG, every second hurts were not together for so long  what do u do guys or preparing as of getting interview schedule and medical? r u preparing somethings? like documents? or anything that can help?

In our case,we got the approval Feb 2 and received the letter from embassy Feb 28...That long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!we were almost mad about it. Patience running thin coz of it. Even before we receive the letter, I already called up the embassy since i got the manila case number and scheduled for interview. You can do the same thing. We also prepared all documents even before so as not to rush things when the letter is here. Good luck to you! I will have my interview this coming thursday...I will keep you guys posted about it. Pray for me.:)

    jeel.

  13. So, we had out interview on firday the 13th of all dates.

we encountred a few issues maybe some one can clear things up for us a bit:

    1. we never got the letter from the embassy with the date of the interview but they replied to our email and gave us the date and time, today 5 days AFTER the interview, we recived the letter, with 2 documents: one mentioning a fee of 131$ visa fee, and the other mentioning a 400$ visa fee. both are identical except for the fee. at the interview we were asked to pay 131$ but never asked about the 400$.....???? any one knows whats up with that?

    2. we were not made known the fact that a police report needs to be sent directl from the the police department to the embassy, and therefor our police report that was handed in was no good and we were asked to get the proper police report. the consular officer said they are going ahead with prossescing the visa anyway, but will wait for the police report.??

    3. we left one of the document packets we had prepaird at the house, these included - 156K 157 and os-230 II. the person who collected al the documents from us before the interview asked for the OS-230II but not for the others, then said if they need it they will ask for us to send it in.

    4. the interview went well, we were both there, answering questions thorugh a glass window... the officer asked my fiance to leave her pasport there, then said "all your papers seem to be in order" and that they will contact us when they are ready to deliver it.....??? does that mean we pass? or fail?

    any answers welcome!

for me it is a PASS:) congratulations!:)

  14. After checking our tracking number on their website at 8:00 am. Our Visa arrived at 5:00 pm without receiving text from them. I thought it will arrive tomorrow but it is already here!:dance::dance:

GOD is GOOD... All the time! :)

    hi sis!congrats and best wishes!

    happy trip!:)

  15. I had my CFO seminar last Wednesday, February 18. I know this one is a late post... My PC got messed up and sad to say it was reformatted.

    Okay, back to the topic...hehe

I attended the CFO seminar at St. Mary's Convent in Quezon City. I woke up at 3am then take the bus at 4am (Cavite to Pasay MRT Station). Took the MRT and paid PhP14.00 for single-journey ticket (From Taft Station to Cubao). From Cubao, I ride a taxi, paid PhP90.00 and arrived at 6:00am. I belong to the first session and it started at 7:30am.

I suggest that you must first have your visa so that the CFO officer will have your passport stickered and you can leave the country any time you want.

Here are the things you need to bring:

    1. Passport (original and 2 photocopies)

    2. Visa (original and 3 photocopies)

    3. PhP650.00 (PhP250.00 for the Counseling Fee and PhP400.00 for the CFO Sticker plus the Counseling Certificate)

I log my full name and destination to the guard, then the receptionist called my name and asked me to submit my passport with visa and the photocopies. She gave me forms to fill-up, paid PhP250, took my picture and after that, the seminar/counseling session started.

When the seminar was finished I went back to the reception and then submitted the forms I filled up. Then I went to the CFO Office, paid PhP400 and the CFO officer put a sticker on my passport and gave my guidance and counseling certificate.

    11:30am, I'm done with everything... I can fly anytime...hehhe

    hi sis!congrats and best wishes!

sis ano time pa sched nila after the first batch ng 7am?Based from your posting,sa St.Mary's na lang din ako pupunta, laking tulong talga ng VJ sa atin lahat.:) again, thank you and best wishes uli!:)

  17. thank you all so much for your answers! Yes i also felt it is better to wait until she will have visa in hand. I have heard some stories where people purchase ahead only to have to change dates more than a few times! It seems to me the only site i found that will allow me to use manila as my departure is travelocity. I will also check with direct airlines like delta. Does anyone know of other sites that will allow a overseas departure location? Thanks again my friends!!!

  18. Hello all and thanks for yer help in advance. Well, the time is approaching for my fiance to have her interview in Manila( March 19th) and i hate to jump the gun here but i am very confident that things will go fine with her interview :innocent: . I have been checking site like travelocity to get one way tix for her and just came up with a few questions. 1st question: Is if i do purchase tix from a site like that is a E-ticket okay? Or do you need a paper ticket? Question 2: Is it okay for me to even purchase the ticket? Or should she do it from the Phils? Those are really my only two questions at this point...if i can think of others i will surely ask...Thanks again!!!
