Ok, thanks that explains everything. ESTA is only for people traveling on the visa waiver program. We have a visa anyways. I got mine today and will be flying to Miami tomorrow!!! Jipppiiieee...Finally.

You will be fine. No need to worry. Just give them what they ask you for. If you are worried that your fiancés income wont be enough try to get a co-sponsor ligned up.
Good luck!

Congrats Radz and Steve!! I am really happy for you!! Where are the pictures
I got my final visa today in the mail and will enter the US tomorrow through Miami POE!! We are so happy and excited. Wedding is in 2 weeks. I will post some pics.

We have waited 198 without any RFE or security checks. Just no one looked at our case until then. We had infopass appointments and they always told us we were not in security checks just not looked at yet. There is a variety of things that can make your case move faster or slower just like where in the pile you are, what officer you have and if he/she is on vacation or sick, where in the waiting queue you are. From what I have been reading here, people with no RFE or security checks take usually at MOST around 200-230 days. If you are over that it is almost certain that you are stuck in security checks.

Yes, they did everything right with ESTA! It must have been because of our visa. My parents were flying with their friends. They all had done the ESTA thing together and all but them were ok.
I think it definitely had to do with my visa because it might have just been declared 'approved' since the visa sticker is in my passport for max. 2 days now.

I want to share this story as I believe it might be important to some of you and it really bumped me as I did not know about this.
Our wedding is supposed to take place in 2 weeks. I was approved at the Frankfurt embassy this last thursday and I know my passport with the visa is on its way to my mailbox.
Just a small story which is almost unbelievable to me from this morning.
My parents were about to board the plane this morning which would connect them with their flight to Miami where they wanted to go on vacation before they come to our wedding.
The system said they are denied and not approved for entering the US!
My dad already called me to say they are coming back home when my mom just yelled "It is ok. We can fly!" Apparently they were not allowed to enter the US for as long as my visa was not issued yet. The airline called USCIS to make sure their status hasn't changed yet after my parents told them all about our visa process and that I was approved at the embassy just this past week. After the airline's call the system changed my parents' status to approved.
I am just imagining what would have happened if my visa interview would have been today. They would have been sent back for sure and wouldn't even be able to go on vacation….Unbelievable! I really didn't know that our K1 process could possibly impact my parents' travel plans.

Don't worry. In Germany they did a blood test and urine. I don't really know if they even tested me for drugs (don't know if they would tell us all the tests they perform anyways). All I know they tested is HIV and Lues (Syphillis). However, I heard in certain countries drug tests are standard procedure (like Jamaica, for example).
-
However, if we were all saying the thruth I doubt that many of us would get our visa ;-)
Believe me, it won't show up in their tests if you haven't been doing drugs for weeks. They would need to get hair and analyze that to verify that you did drugs.
-
Natan congrats!!! You are finally there!!!
One question though: we do not need to fill out the ESTA thing online since we have a visa, right? And all other forms are given to you on the plane?
I am so anxious to fly. I can't wait. The closer we get, the more nervous Dan and me get. He is calling every night asking when I will be there.
Kiwie, don't worry. I felt like a wreck too just before the interview because I always thought something was missing. But the good thing is: even if something is missing you won't have to go again to Frankfurt. You can just send it in. Follow the guides and you will be totally fine.
I wrote Frankfurt an email asking whether they got my medical report (i just wanted to make sure I am not waiting 3 weeks and they actually never got it). They said yes they got it Fri 13th and that my visa is processed and will go out today most likely. All you need is to write them an email to FrankfurtIV@state.gov (thats the immigrant visa section). Put your case number and both of your names in the subject and you will get a reply soon. They wrote me back within 3 hours.
-
Ok, just as a side note. They only test your blood and urine at the medical. If you read up on this you will notice that drugs are not verifiable in your urine for this long period of time. Whether you tell them the truth about your past is up to you. However, you will be denied most probably.

I also hate how friends and family of my fiancé always think it was 'natural' to move together to the US. As if any other way was stupid or impossible.
If he could get a decent paying job here and living costs wouldn't be as high we would for sure live in Europe. But as a starting point the US just seems to give us more flexibility and financial freedom. However, I have to say that those ignorant statements come mainly from people who have never been outside the US and think it is the greatest, the best, and the only place worthing living at.

Don't worry if they touch you on holidays. Some of the officers work from home which means they can work whenever they want to. ;-)
-
Shoobidooo.....Frankfurt wrote me an email today that the visa is issued and that they'll send it tomorrow. So I can fly this weekend for sure. Either saturday or sunday... woohooo
-
That is good I guess?!?! Is he bringing your fiancé too so you guys can see each other??
-
Natan, have a safe trip!! Good luck at POE!
-
Natan, don't worry about it. Technically, they have the right to search your computer and even copy all of your files but I have never heard them doing that really. Don't worry. No one will be interested in your programm. ;-) They are looking for other things like maps and plans for possible terrorists and bomb dust. They searched my computer once for this. They just take a tissue, rub it up and down your computer and then put it in a machine to analyse the dust. As if I would look like terrorist...oh well.

Stepha, great news! Congratulations!!
Oana, I hope this will be your week. It just has to be...
Good luck!!
-
Stepha, you are right. That makes sense!
I will probably be leaving here Thursday or Friday (depending on when the visa is in my mailbox). I am also trying to figure out what things are really mandatory for me to take. I also have all documents concerning the following: birth certificate, life insurance, medical insurance, my degree copies, vaccination worksheet needed for AOS, my German tax number (just in case I ever have to be taxed here again I don't want it to get lost), bank account information, info from my optician for my glasses...
Anything else you can think of that is really important??

Hey you guys!! We also got approved two days ago! It all went really fast since we had NOA 2 and I will be flying over to my fiancé next week when the visa and my passport have arrived!
I always was a June filer but read here a lot when it got quiet because all others from june already were approved. Thank you guys for all your help and I wish you all the best!!
-
Stepha, did I understand this right? Where will you get married? Not in the States???
-
Thanks you guys!! I am still praying for you too! I hope you'll get out of the NOA2- 'hell' soon!! After this it will all go really quick. Good luck!

Hey, guys! Had to search this thread for a while. Where are you?? ;-)
Just wanted to share our joy: we got approved at the embassy yesterday!! It is hard to believe but they gave us no trouble whatsoever. They did not even want to see any proof of relationship! Nothing. My visa will come in the mail next week and I will go as soon as I can get a flight.
Some of you guys are probably already married?! Common' we want to see some honey-bunny pictures!! :-)

Kiwie,
my medical report just took so long because I had to hand in the last HPV vaccination confirmation. And since I got sick in between everything was delayed two weeks because the doc said I am too sick to get a vaccination.
Oh well, it is all set and done. yeah! Normally I think the visa issuance takes around 6-8 business days if you chose for waiting for the mail. I hope Ill have mine next wednesday. Would be awesome.Nothing to really worry about at the Frankfurt embassy. They said that even if you should not have all required documents they won't make you come back. You can hand it all in via mail or fax. Just be well prepared with all the documents and you will be just fine!
I can't wait to see Daniel in the US. It will be a challenge to start a new life in this difficult time but I am sure we will make it with the help of our family and friends.

Estadia!!
I am so happy for you!
However, how can they tell you for a year that you are in security checks when it seems to never actually have been true!! Unbelievable those people. Really, if there is a way I would sue them for mental damage they have done to you.
I hope it all goes fast now. I am praying for you!

Hellllooooooo!!
I finally made it. I have a major jet lag and was travelling for almost 48 hours but I am ok and happy. I met Dan's parents last night for the first time. I think they were just as nervous as I was. hahaha But everything went well. We will go and pickout our wedding bands today and he already drove with me to the location where we will have our wedding and the reception. It is awesome!!
When Dan picked me up from the airport I was just breaking down. I hugged him and just started crying. We are just happy to finally not have to say goodbye at airports anymore.
It will take me some time getting used to everything here. I am from a big city and moved to the countryside more or less right now. In a few weeks, as soon as we have an apartment, we will move to Oklahoma City though. Everyone is nice to me though, which I think will make integration in a different culture a lot less painful.
I hope you guys are all doing well. I still cant believe that Oana and Estadia have not yet received their NOA 2. Unbelievable!!! What else can I say?
Kiwie, good luck on your interview and the medical. I have no doubt that you will be just fine.
