  1. This makes absolutely no sense at all. We had the chest x-ray which clearly shows no TB- why should I do the skin test then now? Ridiculous. Or is the government afraid I got TB between January and now??? I am just venting. I am sure a lot of you guys are in the same situation like us. We are already short of money, my husband is a student and working part-time, here I sit without an EAD and then there is tons of costs incurred by USCIS. Arrrg!

By the way: What requirements are there to qualify for an EAD expedite?

  2. I didn't get a copy of my report in fact I haven"t even seen it besides the vaccination worksheet that they gave me. Oh well, if you get and RFE you just have to do it. I mean, what is the alternative? Stopping the whole AOS process and losing $1010? I don"t even want to start thinking about what I have already spent in this whole visa and AOS process.... I could be rich by now. :bonk:

  3. I don"t know of anyone yet who was refused when he/she went earlier to their biometrics appointment. Marco is the only one I believe where I have read that they even realized it. Maybe they will start realizing it now though when all of a sudden tons of people go earlier and not as schedule ;)

If you live far away I would personally stick to the original date or reschedule. But that's my personal risk aversion. Lol.

As for the medical and vaccination worksheet; it seems some people got through the process without an RFE for just sending in the DS vaccination worksheet you have been given at the K1 Medical in your home country whereas others received RFE s for that. Somewhere here on VJ I also found a guideline where it said you don't need anything else than that worksheet if you had every vaccination completed before you went to the US. Personally, I think it seems there is no 100% rule/guideline (as we see there is also ambiguous rules stated by USCIS). It will depend again on your USCIS worker looking at your case.

Oh and to all of you who got transfered: I noticed that they must be working on the AOS case as my last updated changes a lot. Since this past saturday it says that my case is at the CSC and it was updated again yesterday. Does this mean they are already working on it (whereas noone looked at my EAD application yet)? That would be fast.

  4. Terri&Seb: I also just send the vaccination overview (DS something) that I got at the medical in Germany. I guess we will see what happens. If that doesn't work I'll ask Dr. Arnold for help ;) Also, concerning TB I am vaccinated and got the X-Ray. I hope that will be enough.

Chibby, could you update on the spreadsheet that I didn't send that medical form from a doctore but only the vaccination worksheet. For some reason, I cant edit the spreadsheet with my new computer :(

  5. I am originally from Berlin and my husband has stayed there with me several months.

We also have been all over the place as my dad was really cute and gave us a little graduation/engagement gift last summer. He booked hotels for us and gave us 5 letters. Each letter gave us a ' travel destination' to go to and enjoy 2 days. It really was a lot of fun. We went to Schloss Neuschwanstein (really adorable and romantic), Koblenz, Auf der Loreley, and Berchtesgarden. It was a great trip! For New Years we were spending a few days at the Baltic Sea with my parents and some of their friends. I still really want to go to Hamburg (i was there only once) and Munich with my husband. I think these cities are worth a trip.

We hope to go back to Germany at the end of this year. I am pretty close to my family as well and they help us being able to afford the flights because they miss us a lot! :)

  6. mnmarty, glad to see you back here!!

So much of what you described your husband feels like reminds me of myself since I am in the States!!

I feel bored to death very often even though I could do almost anything I want. Money is a little short after sending in my AOS paperwork but we don't have to worry too much either. I have my own nice car (our grandfather gave it to us), my own bank card etc. And yet... I don't know what I could do most of the day, so I end up cooking a lot (which I do enjoy by now though, esp. the German recipes :) ), reading a bit and surfing online...I figure that it is getting better week after week and a lot of me hiding at home is just me feeling uncomfortable outside alone. I don't have any communication issues but I have to admit I feel intimidated sometimes by strangers talking to me (not the case from where I come from) in the post office or at Starbucks and I got lost with my car one or two times...and it is small things like these are just frustrating.

Every time I go out alone and do something it gives me more and more self esteem and makes me a little happier. It is like having small challenges in my new life. I understand how you feel because my husband gets upset at me at times, but I promise that it will all get better with time!! It is just temporarily and once he works (this is probably harder even on your husband not being able to contribute) he will be happier and feel more comfortable.

  7. We planned our wedding for 9 months after sending in the I129f. We filed June and wanted to marry beginning March 2009. At the end we barely made our date because NOA2 took forever for no reason (no RFE, no difficult case, just two young people with no criminal past wanting to get married). I entered the US Feb 22 2009 after I received my visa one day earlier and the wedding took place 2 weeks later. We stressed out a lot during this time (after all my parents had already booked their vacation around our wedding date) and I would not advise anyone to do the same!! Or at least wait until you have NOA2. Even thereafter anything could happen but depending on where you are from it is less likely to take several more months than would be usual.

  8. I didn't realize you could just show up and they would do it early. We both already arranged for Wednesday off work next week so that's when we'll go. Will going early get you looked at sooner?

    Happy waiting!

    Shelly

That would be interesting to know. My appointment is in two weeks, but if it helps speed up I'd go earlier, too. But well on the other hand, what are two more weeks in this process. Sigh. But panterchen, I can see why you went earlier, your appointment was really a long wait.

    Chibby

Yeah, and I don't even know why. This morning at 10am when I was there, there were only 5 people in front of me and it didn't take longer than 30 minutes all together. I'll keep you posted when I hear anything new. It would be interesting to know if that has any effect on the EAD coming sooner. Would be nice. But then...ahhh I gotta find a job! ;)
