  1. Hi & happy late friday afternoon everyone! :star:

    We received email notification that Hassen EAD card production was ordered! :dance::thumbs::dance:

    FINALLY FREAKIN' APPROVED! Were excited as he's been on the job hunt for about a week now with 2 call backs already!

    Have a great weekend ..Take care (F)

  2. The only thing my husband has said he wanted to do is repay his father for the ticket he purchased to get here. Once he's working and can afford to do so - fine by me, I would do the same if my parents paid for anything for me.

    As far as sending money home "just because" ??? Well its his $$ & as long as he meets his household & savings responsibilites then I guess I would be cool with it. However, he's never contributed to his family before so I dont know why he would start now & if sending $$ homes breaks him to the point where he cant take of the household he's living in - then we'd have a problem.

    No prob with sending thoughtful, small gift for Eid, Ramadan, birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, etc .. for those special moments ...

  3. Morning MENA! Hope everyone had a nice weekend - ours was very productive with applications & housework! Off today due to holiday & headed to brunch very soon!

    Amanda - congrats! Whenever I reflect back on my relationship with Hassen, I'm amazed at all the courage and 1st steps I took - makes me realize I can conquer about anything I set my mind too. All the best to you & hubby!

    Take care everyone! (F)

    Happy Monday Morning MENA!

    I hope everyone has a wonderful week.

    Today marks one year ago that I was boarding the plane to fly to Jordan! I can't believe it. Next Monday is our 1 year anniversary! :dance:

    God Bless you all and I hope you have a good Monday.

    Amanda

  4. with school now being open, has he thought about becoming a school bus driver? Most companies pay for training and the CDL testing, decent way to get experience and move onto to something more lucrative.

    How about labor ready (pay for a day)? local hospitals? local colleges? state/county/city positions? Many places like ARC and Catholic Charities look for folks on a regular basis to work in community residences etc ... Home Depot/Lowes/Walmarts? Warehouse work? Grocery store distrubution centers?

    Just a few ideas ...

    I dont know what your hubbys interest are and/or what he's qualified to do but were looking at every possible option just to 1st get his foot in the door somewhere. Good luck to all.

  5. Good afternoon MENA! :star:

    Hope all had a nice weekend and a decent start to the 1st full week of October!

    Amanda - my hubby & yours arrived 1 day apart to the states ... were still waiting on the work authorization so he can look for a job & your right, its not easy with 1 income despite all the planning we did. We've become very creative with budgeting & going without somethings.

    I'm concerned about him trying to find a job as we go into the holiday season, employment is really tight everywhere but like you we have faith that its all going to work out for the best.

    Prayers for all that are going through some sort of struggle or challenge .. (F)

    Take care all :)

  6. found the following information at www.cic.gc.ca

    Visitor Visa Exemptions

    Many people do not require a visa to visit Canada. These include:

    citizens of Andorra, Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Barbados, Belgium, Botswana, Brunei, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel (National Passport holders only), Italy, Japan, Korea (Republic of), Latvia (Republic of), Lithuania, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Namibia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Papua New Guinea, Poland, Portugal, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, San Marino, Singapore, Slovakia, Solomon Islands, Spain, Swaziland, Sweden, Slovenia, Switzerland, United States, and Western Samoa;

    persons lawfully admitted to the United States for permanent residence who are in possession of their alien registration card (Green card) or can provide other evidence of permanent residence;

    Looks like visiting Canada is a bit of a ways off for now as he doesn't have the "green card," he's not a U.S. citizen and Tunisian citizens do require a visa to Canada. Thanks again Darnell for giving me a starting point of reference ...

  7. Hi everyone! I have a question I hope someone can help me with. Hassen is from Tunisia and here on a K3 visa. AOS has not been filed for and he would like to travel to Montreal Canada to see family.

    Is he able to this without being a temporary resident of the U.S.? I think he would have to file AOS and/or LPR (???). Does he have to file for a visa to Canada if he hasn't filed AOS etc ...? Am i getting this right? Thanks so much for any insight in this matter.... Stacy

  8. Congratulations Sandra/Ahmed on the NOA2 - its a really nice feeling to make any progress in the journey!

    Zaidsmommy - I happened to notice you & hubby filed for naturalization - thats wonderful, good luck with everything! Sounds like you had nice "couple" time together last nite too.

    J+I - wow 99 days - time is finally moving along - you have soo much to look forward to!

    Happy hump day all of MENA - hope you have a nice 1 !

    Take care (F)
