  1. Hey all to those of us waiting for interviews still I got cheap last minute tickets to come see my fiance this weekend so I am here in Montreal sending good vibes to the consulate to hurry up and schedule us!!

Awesome!! Thanks :) Throw some fairy dust on the consulate too! :star:

Where did you get cheap last minute tickets? I keep scouring for those on lastminutetravel.com

    nothing yet :crying:

  2. I just dropping by to say hello to my 1st family!

All is well here...packet 3 is at the consulate and I'll be waiting for my interview. Seems that things are picking up so we're planning a mid-August move, July interview! The forms for me were weird to fill out because of the kids...anyone else with dual citizen children??

Well congrats to all the newlyweds, new home owners, and all of you who have great things happening. Laura, I hope your life will be bright and you'lll find love again. Enjoy your new appartment!! :) Should I say flat? ;)

    Take care all!

Congrats on returning packet 3 Julie... now is the waiting time indeed :reading::clock::pop:

Its so wonderful to see so many newly weds, approvals and things! Hope everyone is well.

  3. Where the hell did I say ALL English people speak like that, or that it was something bad (such as your racial overtone in Americans speaking Ebonics)?

Regardless of how diverse the array of British citizens I was exposed to, it is a patent fact that SOME British citizens drop "the" referring to a hospital, university, and some other places.

This has been a very civil thread, I don't understand why you're injecting such hostility. You obviously have a need for reading comprehension skills improvement, as well as for proper etiquette in a civilized forum.

Speaking of civilized, it would be much appreciated if you could refrain from swearing.

  4. Thanks July09Bride

Ok so we have the Visa in hand :D :D :D :D YAY !!!!

It went pretty fast for us .. had my interview on april, 28 and they mailed it on april, 29 and I received it May, 1st :)

Granted I live in Montreal though so maybe that is why we received it so fast :)

Now on to finish up everything here and then I will hit the road and drive to sunny Florida to be with my adorable babe (L):D

Congrats!!!!!!!! What a great feeling!!

  5. Keep on taking those skittles..I certainly would!

I hate Skittles! I remember getting them when I was a little kid and originally thinking they were M&M's. The only thing worse is putting raisins in cookies instead of chocolate chips.

Or macadamia nuts instead of white chocolate! I love sour skittles.

ewwwwwwwww white chocolate? Everyone knows that the darker the chocolate, the better :P

White chocolate is so nasty! its not even chocolate!... of course I loved it when I was a kid

  6. Thanks everyone for your support.

I talked to my hubby about it. I told him how I felt. Like arabella said, i will start keeping a list. I think that's a good idea. I looked up the volunteer jobs in town and its mostly helping old people and red cross type of stuff. I'm not good with health volunteer. But I'll keep looking. I started paying more attention with my fitness health. I think I have to leave the house before my husband wakes up. Once he wakes up, he wants to do spend time with me but doesnt want to go for a run w/ me. lol. Its just getting my #### to stop being lazy. I also told my hubby I want to make a table and fix this old dresser and re paint it. so I've created some new hobbies I want to do. and I've been wanting to get back into my old teenage size. haha. i used to dance for 15 years and stopped 3 yrs ago (b/c of work.lol). But I was on facebook last night and saw this ad for Jazzercise which looks exciting and I actually saw a banner of it in town so I really want to try that.

You guys are right about the time off too. I want to take advantage of it. I just need to learn to get used to having all this time to myself. lol.

Hey Boarder, as someone who does some volunteer work for a cool organization, you might try looking the other way around for volunteer stuff - there are probably a lot more organizations that aren't advertising for volunteers but would love to have the assistance - you could google a cause of interest and your location and see what organizations pop up. Sounds like you've got a healthy list going! I agree, enjoy it :)

  7. Question,..

I'm being told by other people from his country and also here in the U.S. that I need to notify immigration of the situation.

I'm wondering what good that would do. From what I see, immigration just chalks up these situations to "I told you so letters".

He is here for the 2 years at the minimum (until he needs to adjust from the CR-1) and I'm sure he will find a way to turn everything around to make me out to be the bad person. Thank god his friends and family back home know how he was treating me.

Anyway, my question is,...if I notify immigration, how is that going to help me? I'm a live and learn type of person,...but if my not telling them will harm me legally or financially somehow....well, that I'd want to know about.

    Leedah

Do not hesitate to notify immigration and make sure what you submit is notarized and that you save copies. If you have police reports and such, submit them. Unfortunately your husband will have tons of free support and sympathetic ears to listen to him. He can also get a free lawyer and social worker to represent him at "whatever" hearing he may have. :You as the USC? None of that is available without paying for it. I was afraid of being called a bad person only to be called a stupid b**** later on followed by the most hurtful insults I have ever tolerated in my life. So bad person is a minor issue right now.

Immigration might not care and the officer reading your case might just thumb his nose at you and laugh. Who cares? But there are steps you should take and they are in place for a reason. As for the financial harm, I don't know how your state handles it, but he is less a financial liability now than he will be in the future.

OK, I'm finished. Whew! Sorry, I didn't expect to unload like that, but I just felt a fear rise up in me to think that you might unnecessarily go through some of what I've felt and learned. You're doing well in asking questions in advance so please don't stop seeking help. Hugs

Thats great advice. Leedah, I'm so sorry this is happening to you. You might try to talk to a Battered Women's shelter or hotline. It looks like you are in Atlanta, and I imagine this is not the first such case. They might have some guidance for how to file a divorce and free yourself of financial obligations. They might be able to help you afford a lawyer, or obtain pro-bono legal services. Many areas

Filing a police report/pressing charges & speaking to immigration will help to protect you, as it shows you are making your best effort. Immigration might be able to help you understand the legality of divorcing him as a felon, etc. I don't imagine that anything negative will happen to you if you talk to them to at least get some answers. Best wishes. (F)

  8. That forum is hilarious.. talk about kicking people hard when they're down.

-"Help my husband wants a divorce"

-"YOU SCAMMING IDIOT! GO BACK HOME!!!"

Wow. Sounds like an entertaining thread!

I want to scream today at the NC Child Support office. They seem more hellbent on making it "fair" for deadbeats who knew they had to pay rather than the child. the whole system is soooo F@%#^@%!!!

that feels better, please continue the conversation ;)

  9. GOOD LORD! This thread is still going on...I can't believe it. Someone should close this already.

I don't think he's going to bother responding as to why he chose a Canadian forum to post this in.

I feel horrible for this poor girl he's got over there. I can't even imagine how she must be feeling.

I wonder if she also comes on visa journey. If so, I hope she sees this post. Maybe it will open her eyes.

And i just realized the name of this post. Does she have the right to be upset.....again...GOOD LORD, hell yes she does.

This has got to be the fastest growing post of all time! its been steadily at the top of the Canadian forum since it was posted

I don't think a sane person in a relationship would tell you that she doesn't have a right to be upset. You hid things from her, you kept her in an insecure position and your toying with this other woman - no matter what the NATURE of your relationship is,

What did you expect we were going to say? Go buy some roses and grovel.

  10. Montreal logged into the system that our pseudo packet 3 is received - checklist etc - the operator followed our stream of events and emails about it all. she said that montreal will review it and then SO becomes eligible for an interview... is that what they tell everyone? She said give it a week or two before its been reviewed.

    normal?

  11. I finally have an apartment, pending a credit check. It's a lovely two bed apartment built this year. So new there are no carpets down yet!

Getting used to being single. Though at the moment I see no difference between being in a long distance relationship and being single. We still chat a bit, I go to bed alone and wake up alone. The only difference is there are no I love yous. Am back at work tomorrow after a week off so I am going to have to start all over again with the Tom and I are no longer together...

Hang in there Laura. The pics of the flat on Facebook are really cute. I hope the new place works out. Hopefully things will start looking up for you soon. (F)

  12. Sorry but I put him in hockey to have fun not to get yelled at and put down. That's all he needs is someone destroying his self esteem because he can't get to a puck fast enough. Seriously.

Thats a hard one - if they love the sport you don't want to take them out, right? Is there another hockey league? I can't imagine the coaches are getting away with the F-bomb directed at kids.. thats kinda grounds for firing a coach... one would hope...

  13. "Inquiries regarding U.S. visas

The 24-hour information line is 1902-941-641. The cost to listen to prerecorded information is $1.15 per minute (cost access with variable cost options. Higher rates may apply from mobile and pay phones). You can ask to be connected to a live consultant for $3.00 per minute. Live consultants are available Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 7:00pm, Australian Eastern Standard Time.

If you cannot access 1902 services, the same information is available on 1800-687-844. This 1800 service has only live consultants, no prerecorded information. The charge is $12.00. This service must be paid by credit card at the time of the call. "

lol The thought of paying that much to talk to someone about NVC's mistake is mind boggling.

This is what NVC says regarding lost petitions :

What Can Be Done If the Petition Gets Lost?

We don't want this to happen, but occasionally it does. Files can get misfiled; shipments of visa files have been lost. Usually a misfiled petition can be located, but in an emergency an embassy or consulate can issue a visa from the computer record and an original Notice of Action approval (Form I-797) from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

Give the consular section time to locate the file, and it probably will. But all is not lost if the petition is really gone. Be sure to keep all correspondence you receive from the USCIS

Wow, thats somewhat of a relief anyway. It sucks for it to get lost, but there is small comfort in knowing that you don't have to start all over again... again  Hang in there Beans! I know you've had a go of it from the beginning!!

  14. My fiancée has found a new pastime; wedding planning. She's so far gotten the wedding attire, floral arrangements, gifts to the guests, her hair style, and part of the reception menu. I give her credit because she is balancing several responsibilities now and still enjoying every moment of this planning. As a bit of a surprise to her, my brother-in-law and I are going to play some guitar as well. He was my first teacher and we've learned to play well together. Sing a couple of sweet songs for her, and some live entertainment for the guests.

If only this interview were scheduled for this coming month, our plans might fall right in place.

That sounds really sweet! Do you have any idea when the interview will be?

We are waiting and hoping ... no real idea how much time we are looking at. Home stretch! no matter how long it gets...

  15. I had my expresspost envelope folded in half, the lady at the consulate actually unfolded, took out a ruler and measured it and then compared it to the one she had posted on the wall. GIVE Me A BREAK!! I tell ya, its the whole make them jump through hoops thing! I bought the biggest one they had, and $25 bucks later it passed the test! LOL

She did not pull out a ruler?!

 Maybe they figure the more hoops you jump through the more serious you are about your SO...

I can't believe she pulled out a ruler! ::cough cough:: POWER TRIP ::cough cough::
