  1. I think you guys will have June interviews too, I haven't seen anyone scheduled for June recently.

And, if you're feeling down just look at my timeline, I waiting 3 months to find out my date! Not a lot of other people had to wait as long as me!

    Yikes!!

I just wish they wouldn't do that to anyone, let alone us :-)

So... question - 156K? what is this?

  2. Would be great if we heard something by the end of this week, though I am still guessing it will be May 29.

I am hoping to hear something by May 29 as well, if not I am going to ask them for the next possible interview date, this is getting rediculous. You'd think someone else would have had a date by now, or maybe they are waiting until the end of May to schedule all of us, since I did notice a lot of fillers got their p4 at the end of March. Has anyone noticed a NOA2 expiring before the interview was scheduled? I know I read somewhere that they can just extend the expiration date... just wondering because mine expires in about 6 weeks...

:-( I'm sorry yours is about to expire, that stinks! but yes, they automatically extend it from what I've read. perhaps you can e-mail them to be sure (better to have it in their writing )

I can't imagine that we won't all have interview dates by the 29th. but I'm the optimist

  3. Alright! Here's the list for the next while until we start getting interview dates! Whether or not we get a date, let's keep each other updated on YES or NO for each of the days we've volunteered to call the DOS.

    HAPYCLOUD: MONDAY

    TORONTO GUY: TUESDAY

    SPARKY&ME: WEDNESDAY

    KRISTINL: THURSDAY

    RUBY_MTL: FRIDAY

Next weekend I'm going to go visit the love of my life until the stupid interview gets scheduled. I'm sick of waiting for this B.S. to finish. Nonetheless, I will still call on the day I said I would and report back to the forum.

We’re thinking about doing the same thing, we’re sick of being separated and I’m in limbo here anyhow because I left my job way too soon thinking that I’d be in the US already. I’m hesitant to try to enter with no return ticket though - and I can’t buy the ticket until I know the interview date so I’ll probably hold off. Let us know how it goes at the POE.

We will! I (USC) am going up there and bringing him back. he won't have a return ticket either. Someone told me today in another thread that they crossed without a return ticket - they did it by car and said they'd be returning in January, then bought their bus ticket while in the US.

We'll post our experience for sure. :-)

    http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pF7...b9kOA&hl=en

I am not sure exactly how accurate this data is because it hasnt been updated in over a month but I think that based on the lack of interviews scheduled for May, that May is another February with like only a small number of dates. Maybe everyone decided to book their holidays for this month and they are severely understaffed. Im kinda kicking myself for not pestering for another p3 more when my first one never arrived, otherwise if I would have actually gotten the first one I might have actually had a date by now...

Hey there! This spreadsheet is definitely outdated. I've got the task of getting it back up to date and I've got the original file from the original creator... so that will be my task for this upcoming week! I'll be checking back in here to get everyone's dates! :)

    :thumbs::D

Thats very sweet of you, thank you!!!!!!!!

  4. I usually drive back and forth (or he comes to me!); but, over Christmas, I was in his truck and my plan was to return by bus early January (that's what I did). It was the easiest border crossing... No question, just "where are you going", a look at our passport and "have a good day".

However, I had brought some ties to my Canadian life (bills, school schedule for the Winter Semester, etc.)

Now that I think about it, I think I had more questions coming back to Canada, the agent really thought it was weird to get married to an American and not be living together right away :)

Thanks for the advice - did you already have a return ticket and did they ask you when/how you were coming back?

He does have some ties to Canada - bank statements, and a letter from his employer is possible (but hes not working full time anymore) -- does the P3 ever suffice as proof of not intending to stay illegally?

And, has anyone, or would anyone recommend, saying that we are just waiting for an interview date from Montreal and thats when we are going back? Or should we stick with Canada Day as a definite date?

    Thanks!

  5. Next weekend I am going to visit my Fiance and I want to bring him back to the US with me for a while. he does not drive, and would not have a return ticket. Ideally, he'd be visiting here until the interview happens.

Has anyone crossed the border together in a car while waiting on a K-1?

Should the Packet 3 information suffice as assurance to the border?

We want to make (new) wedding plans, visit, etc. We've decided that if no interview is scheduled, we will return to Canada for Canada day - all together.

I know the standard procedures for him visiting me in the US - but am wondering if this will be even more challenging than the usual bus trip.

By the way, we will also have my super cute 4 year old daughter with us - hopefully her super-cute powers will help. :innocent:

Thanks for opinions & advices! :)

  6. Just called DOS for the 1st time...They said our date of eligibility was May 5th (although Montreal received it on the 1st...oh well!)so I guess I should recalculate and count the 6 weeks from May 5th...we'll see.

How can I be added to the spreadsheet?

I asked a couple of days ago if anyone still had editting priviledges to the spreadsheet, if no one still does I might try and make a new one on Monday.

I think July Bride was editing the document... I know we are not on there because we were over enthusiastic about our timelines (okay, me) and we each filled one in and then I linked mine - so it confused the system & my pestery PMs have gone unanswered. So, if the spreadsheet happens again, let me know and I'll fill in all our info. :D

Hopefully it won't be much longer :star:

  7. Part of the problem is that the Police aren't qualified to determine (exactly) what is legal and what isn't. (In other words they can simply enforce what they know and debating the law with them is - as you found out - pretty much a waste of everyone's time.)

We had a friend in Texas that received a violation/ticket for no TX DL (he explained pretty much what you probably did and it fell on deaf ears.)

He went to court and the judge dismissed the violation (the speeding ticket was a different story).

Exactly! You're barking up the wrong tree. Go to court and contest the violation. Bring your immigration documents with you. It will probably be dropped.

  8. Hi ladies,

Im sure many of you, as Canadian's who have fallen in love with an American citizen - have wondered the same thing. Or who know's...maybe im just weird! hehe.

I posted awhile ago regarding my best options for moving to the States to be with my boyfriend. After reading some very useful info shared by some of you, I discussed the possibility of a K-1 visa with him. He said he would do anything for me to move down there, including going through with that.

Im all for it. And we both love eachother very much. However...im worried. Iv always dreamt of getting engaged with the traditional - the man surprises you with a ring one day and your all omg omg. (lol). But im worried it's not going to be like that for us..im worried we are just going to go through with this Visa, im going to move, and thats it. No surprise ring, no walking down the isle in a pretty white dress one day down the road. I think it sounds kind of selfish, and it kind of sounds like I want to have my cake and eat it to. But it's every little girls dream to have that one special day. I currently work in a jewelry store - specializing in engagement rings. And everyday the thought crosses my mind as I see all these happy young couples ring shopping for one another.

Have any of you ever felt like this? How did you get through it? Did you mention it to him?

    Thanks! :)

I think how you feel is not wrong, or abnormal. But realize that the engagement will give you that "OMG OMG" feeling anyway!! I knew when I was going to get engaged, and it was still an incredible feeling to be engaged to this wonderful guy I love soo much!! and I was running around saying "OMG" to all my friends :luv:

As for the wedding, if you have your heart set on the traditional princess wedding, then perhaps you should consider planning it for sometime well after the visa process -- when you get the visa, you can do a civil marriage. That way, you can actually plan the details of the big wedding, without being dependent on the visa.

IMO, you should share with your boyfriend how you feel about these things before starting immigration process - openness and communication are vital to being in a relationship, especially one thats about to become more committed... and go through the immigration process  Tell him the kind of wedding you want. Hopefully you are on the same page! :)

  9. I recently (last month) went to the US with my case pending. I had supporting documents with me to prove that I was coming back to Canada (letter from employer, proof that I still owe money on my car) and I brought with me a copy of my NOA1. As soon as I handed that to the border guard he said "This piece of paper (NOA1) is saving you LOTS of hassle". I had a few more questions than usual, but I did not have to go into secondary or anything like that.

Peachy - was it you, I think, that was coming back with your fiance', in your car? Just curious, in the event that my fiance' accidentally ends up in my car on my way home in 2 weeks... :innocent:

  10. APPROOOOOOOOVED !!!!!!!!!!! :dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:

Very easy, straight forward, very nice people and fast! We were done at 915am!

At the interview, the very nice lady talked to him (USC) more than to me, and on everything except the visa haha!

    I'll post a review soon!

But you all were right, that is piece of cake even if I was nerveous!

Thanks again for all the good advices and luck :):)

    SOOOOOOO HAPPYYYY

    Champagne time!

WOOOOOOO HOOOOO! Congrats!!!!!

  11. The nurse taking the blood test was kind and gentle and asked me where I was moving to. I told her I was moving to the mountains in North Carolina on a K1 visa and she cooed and awed at the thought of young love.... <3 <3 <3 <3

You didn't tell me that part :)

C'mon Montreal! Put the poutine down and schedule me a date this month! Let's go! I wanna marry that crazy Merkin gal that I love so much! <3 <3 <3

    :luv:

  12. Thanks guys!

We're about to go back to the hotel and walk to the embassy to see how long it takes.

In our 4-star hotel, the internet is $15, the breakfast is $20 and the parking is $30

So we're in a coffee shop haha... I'll check our papers again tonight, which I checked last night and yesterday morning before leaving Toronto!

I have stomach cramps just by thinking of it...

I know I am goign to be a nervous mess double checking everything when we go for our interview. Just take a deep breath and relax :) I know easier said then done lol :)

We are too! I think we already are a nervous mess....

Good luck Chadlaure!!! I'm sure it will go great!!

  13. Remember my vent about USPS' tracking number not working. Well guess what kids I still haven't received Jeremy's tax docs and remaining packet 3 contents. I've decided we are cursed when it comes to this process and its frustrating. I'm mad.

aww, Beans, I'm so sorry :-( (F) That stinks!!!!

  14. My fiance spoke to the nice Dept. of State today. The woman he spoke to was very nice, and an immigrant herself to boot (from Russia), she said not to worry about calling every day (except, I don't think I can take it! )

She also said that it seems like Montreal does the interview scheduling in the middle of the month --which backs up the 2nd tuesday of the month theory. in which case... is it Tuesday yet?! :clock:

I hope all of us waiting get our interviews and get to the good stuff... :luv:

  15. We have our interview next tuesday, and leaving to Montreal on Sunday, staying until Wednesday for some tourist time in QC so I can practice my Quebec French. Well tourist stuff only if everything goes well, otherwise, I'll be crying all day at the hotel.

We're staying at the Sofitel, stay 3 nights and the 3rd night is free. SOLD!

Time goes sooooo slow. I've be cheking, re-checking, re-re-checking our file and documents, the order, made copies, re-copies, re-checked, where is my passport, oh and the ID photos are they in the file? ... OMG I'm going crazy.

We still need the envelop and the 131 USD. That is tomorrow's mission or saturday's.

Oh and i have to print directions too since we're driving there.

What a great deal on your hotel! Please be sure to review it! I think we want a little tourist time in Montreal before we head back to Toronto and pace by the mailbox

Sounds like you are getting excited! I am sure you will be fine!

  16. I am here just waiting for packet 4 trying not to become a crazy person with anticipation...though I think it is too late for that!!

yes! it IS too late for that! . we are going crazy too! :bonk:

I told my fiance he might just have to ship me to the looney bin before this is all over. He is so calm and relaxed and I am constantly checking daily for any news lol.

I don't think either of us are calm and relaxed :-) I hate not knowing when its all going to happen! I know others have been waiting or had waited longer, but this part is enough to make one nuts!

  17. Hey I remember I said the same thing about squeeze cheeze and I love that stuff now.

I'd try it once... just to say I had bacon puddin.

I bet it would go good with the squeeze cheese.... Maybe you could layer it over the chicken

  18. Yay Francie! I got mine too! I was nervous about opening it but they make it pretty clear the part you can't open with those "DO NOT OPEN" warnings all over it

Isn't the visa fancy? I expected it to be a boring 'ol black and white stamp. I see Lincoln in the background! This makes me feel special  (I studied Lincoln pretty thoroughly in some government classes, I loves him )

    YAY! CONGRATS :)

  19. Hello October family. I just want to let you all know that WE WERE APPROVED!!! The interview was very simple they only asked my SO 3 questions: When we met, where we met and when was the last time I visited him she was sold when he told her VALENTINES DAY. She didnt ask me any ?'s. All that stress and nerve wracking for nothing.

Good luck to all waiting on interview dates.

Congratulations!  I hope the rest of the journey is smooooth sailing :)

  20. I went in with dreads.

    OMG KIDDING!

I didn't have much to be honest, I didn't take a measurement or anything but it certainly wasn't full when I went in.

How much does it hurt compared to say, eyebrows?
