  1. Maybe someone can just answer for me if the medical is something that needs to be made a day or two ahead of time, or is it something that takes weeks to set up?

i think it probably depends on where you go, but i would try and get it done a week or two before the interview as the doctor will need time to send all the paperwork on to the consulate.

I think I worded that poorly. What I meant was can I call the doc and make an appointment for the next day, or does it take like a few weeks to get in to see the Doc?

  2. I know that in the UK when you have your interview and go and pay the courier you give them the address to send it to

I will get my one when I get it, fingers crossed to my work address

She can state her mothers address as long as when it delivered it can be signed for by anyone who has proof, so she could leave a credit card or somthing similar and anyone who has that at that address can sign for it

Thank you! I will just have her mail forwarded, and give them her Mom's address for delivery.

  3. It seems there is no end to last minute hurdles in this process

Anyhoo, this is the last month before my Fiancees interview, and now her living arrangements are going away... forcing her to move in with her Mom in what will probably be the last 2 or 3 weeks of the K-1 process.

Has anyone else moved house during the process? My initial thoughts were to keep it quiet and just have her mail transferred... but then I realized that the Visa itself would be mailed to her residence once it was approved, and now I am thinking I should call the consulate when she moves. I dont want to cause any confusion or suspicion in the last weeks...

    Any suggestions?

  4. Can someone tell me to which address my fiancee is supposed to send her Packet 3 return packet (checklist, Police Certificate form, 2 passport photos, passport photocopy, DS-230, DS-156, DS-156K)

I have the following addresses, with no indication of which one to use:

Consulate General of the United States of America

    Private Bag 92022,

    Auckland 1142

    New Zealand

    OR

    U.S. Consulate General

    Level 3 Citibank Building

    23 Customs St East

    Auckland

    New Zealand

    92022

ALSO, to make things still more confusing... the letters my Fiancee got from the consulate list the building as the

CitiGROUP Building... and everything else I have ever seen lists the building as the CitiBANK Building... does anyone know which one it really is???

    Thx for any help!

i was in the same dilemma before i mailed back my packet 3. I had written the p.o box address on the front of a large white envelope and then sealed it.. Took it into post office and said i wanted it to go in a courier bag (track and trace). After i wrote the address on the courier bag, the lady at post office looked at it and said.. oh the courier only delivers to 'actual' addresses. I said, well i don't have the other address on me.. so anyway, i sent it off with the p.o. box addy on it and the embassy signed for it, so the courier delivered it ok.

The different addresses they list do make it very confusing but I don't think it really matters what address it is sent to. The consulate is on the third floor of the citibank building (i think its BANK?) ( i hadn't noticed that they call it citigroup aswell, now that IS confusing) But i would like to think that anyone in the postal service would know where the American Consulate in Auckland city was. :)

haha, yeah, one would certainly hope they would know what you meant.

Okay, I guess I will use the same one you used. Thx loads for the help =)

  6. My fiancee was here with me in the USA when we received the NOA2.

Two weeks ago her brother informed us that a package had arrived for her, a big brown envelope "from the States"...

Now we assumed that this was the Packet 3, since she knows no-one in the USA that would be sending her a package.

However, now I'm doubting myself... am I wrong in assuming that the package from the consulate would appear at a glance to be "from the States"?

(I would simply have her brother check for us, but he is not actually near the packages location at the moment.)

Any help with this stupid question would be a big relief. =)

  7. If my ex-wife appears on my last tax statement, do I have to claim her as a dependant on the I-134?

Also, paying child support does my daughter (who lives with my ex) qualify as a dependant or partial dependant in question 8?

Thanks for any help! I'm almost there...

Ex-wife - no (I divorced in 2006, remarried in late 2006 and did not list my ex on i-134 even though she was on my 2005 taxes).

Child - I paid child support to my ex (child lived with her). I counted her 1) because I paid well over half of her support; and 2) per my divorce decree I claimed her as a dependent for tax purposes. I listed her as "partially dependent"

    John

Thank you =) I'll follow your example and claim my daughter as Partially Dependant.

    Thx again!

  8. A couple years back, my Fiancee opened a higher purchase credit line in her name so that a friend of hers could purchase a projection TV. Her friend has made all appropriate payments so far, and is down to owing less than $1000 NZ (big TV!)...

My question is: since this credit line is in my Fiancee's name, and is not entirely paid off, will this cause a rejection before or at the Interview? Her interview will most likely take place next month... so I'm wondering if we need to help her friend pay this TV off (not my favorite option!)

  9. When my fiancee arrived in the States this Nov. for the holidays, they let her in on the VWP w/o any hassle, but they did point out that last time she left the States, the official forgot/failed to remove the green VWP slip from her passport.

I was working on contacting them and clearing this up... however, we just got approved (NOA2) and now I am thinking that if I bring it up now it may just put us more under the spotlight. Since she made it back into the country easily this time, I'm thinking about just not worrying over it.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. She leaves for NZ at the end of Jan to finish her end of the K1, and I dont want to make the wrong choice in this matter.

  10. First of all let me say that we were Approved (NOA2) on Dec. 24th! Woot!

I have a couple of questions now...

    1) Does the Auckland embassy require 3 years tax returns with the Affidavit of Support? My last 3 years returns include my ex-wife. Also, I have last years, but have no idea how to get the 2 previous ones.

    2) Does the Auckland embassy get the Police thing for you? I cant seem to find any info on getting hold of that myself for NZ.

    3) I see the Auckland embassy has received very good ratings for the interviews... I feel pretty strong about our evidence of relationship and such (Genna has been with me for 6 months this year)... is this part basically a breeze, as long as everything is up front and honest?

  11. Thanks all for the replies. Feels so great to be done with the long wait part.

Almost immediately after receiving the news and posting here our internet went down, so I havent been able to check into anything.

Is there anything I should be worrying about and doing immediately???

Genna is with me in the USA right now till the end of January... Am I understanding correctly that this will not cause any problems?

To answer the other posters question, its just a matter of receiving your NOA1 and then the long wait process to the NOA2.
