  1. when the decision is not made at your interview how long do they take or have taken to send you decision or perhaps oath by mail?

    Hi ShallowShrek,

Just want to let you know that my wife had interview Oct 9th, 2008. IO has asked her lots of questions about us, families and about 13 text book questions. Also asked her what kind of documents you brought up with you. Thanks god, my wife had taken all documents (bills, utility, joint bank statement, our life insurance, etc.) with her. She only kept all latest 2008 paper. After the interview she told my wife OATH letter will receive with in 60 to 90 days. She also hand her a form which has 2 box checked a) passed test and B) written decision will be notified through the mail.

Right side of the bottom of the form has marked don't wait for the oath letter now.

    david

thanks david that info was helpful

  2. I guess I am lucky because after the interview at 9:30am, the officer told me to come back at 2:30 as I have to attend the oath..

Blessing for me as I have to go back to the Middle East on the next day.

Completely, how were you able to travel the day after your oath???? AS a US citizen, legally you had to leave the country using a US passport.

Yes it is..When I applied for the passport overseas. The officer educate me about entering and leaving the US..

When I left the US, I showed my CAC card and my naturalization paperwork..No body in the immigration questioned me, they just asked me how did I enter the US, I told them I used my greencard, but since I am naturalized now, I have to returned back the card and have to leave US asap because of my job.

I did apply the passport in the local US embassy where I am located.

lets say i do oath and travel with an american passport do i have to go to the SS office and tell them im a citizen??? what if i leave without letting them??
  3. yes on the paper they hand you before you leave the room he checked the box decison will be mailed to you. there were 3 boxes one was the congrats box one was decision will be mailed the other was we cannot make a decision at this moment about your case. mine was the decision will be mailed to you box.

If your IO checked the "USCIS will send you a written decision about your application" box, must be something about your application he/she felt uncomfortable about, if you can review your interview word for word, maybe there is a hint as to exactly what that is. And it takes time for you application to be reviewed, sorry, but you should hear something within 120 days, if not, then you have a recourse.

well when i review my interview i only see him saying i am approving yo to my supervisor..he didnt give any hint that im not getting it infact he told me straight out we will send you oath. but the question is when is the normal time people have heard from them not including the people who they take forever with im asking about normal timing on normal terms..120 days is for those who are unlucky. what about normally when do they give you a decision?

  4. if you send in the birth certificate for the making of a usa passport. when they mail you the passport do they mail you the documents you sent in as proof with the passport or do they send it in later? because they did not send in the birthcertificate i only got passport. this is for my infant not me ofcourse im still waiting for my oath. :bonk:

  5. when the decision is not made at your interview how long do they take or have taken to send you decision or perhaps oath by mail?

They give you a reason as to "WHY" a decision was not made at the end of your interview? That you have the right to know. Or are you just anticipating the worse?

the decision was not made when i called but when i was at the interview the guy told me we will mail you oath and i will recommend you to my supervisor and i waited a week then called the IO on phone said final decision is not made yet. that is why i asked how long do they take to do a final decision

Weren't you given a N-652 Citizenship interview form? Has box your IO checks that you have been approved, but requires final approval, that is normally done by the manager of the field office, if your IO gave that form to the manager. Ours didn't, we received apologies, but after our senator made an inquiry.

it was checked decision will be mailed to you but IO said it personally that i will approve you from myside to the supervisor. he made me sign a bunch of papers and my passport photos that he had in my file

With my wife's friend, going on ten months already, I talked to her on the phone and told her about having her congressman doing an inquiry, and also going to court where it says you must hear something within 120 days. I don't know if she or her USC husband is afraid to take action or what, I would have been screaming a long time ago just like waiting five weeks for the oath letter when we were suppose to hear about it within two weeks.

With my wife's friend, she told me she was not approved for lack of evidence, while she had joint tax returns, her IO also wanted a utility bill with both their names one it, sent that in with no replies. Don't know if her file was set in a corner someplace, more evidence, or what is going on. Everything went fine for her until her citizenship, she even received her ten year card within the time frame, where our application was misplaced someplace between Nebraska and California, didn't even tell us it was moved and was told that couldn't do anything because Nebraska was posting a processing date of July 06. 2006, I really got angry on this. Trying to obey their laws, more than ample evidence, but they still screw up, or just one person.

    uh-oh

  8. i went on the site..how do i found out the B-2 visa application fee?
    http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/types/types_1263.html#temp

    thank you :D

another question how long will it take if you have everything all papers fees all requirements present when do they call you for visa ? does it take weeks/months/years?

On the embassy's website, there will be a link to information on how long things will take.

i think it said within 3 months.

  9. I was also told by the interviewer that she will recommend me to the supervisor (during interview). I was supposed to be receiving the oath letter in a 2-4 week timeframe after the interview date. In some cases it may take upto six weeks to get the oath scheduled. This is the fifth week and going into sixth week but no oath letter yet.

I think they suddenly slowed down this process for no real reason (or may be a real political reason). There are rumors that the new citizens tend to vote for democrats more, and to keep them from becoming new voters, the oath processes is kind of held back. I am not sure how much validity to this but it sounds very unethical if true. Waiting to the nth degree of your patience is something we all learned during the visa process so this will be the end of getting victimized by this bureaucracy.

sam75 thanks for sharing your experience and info..this waiting process is not cool.

  10. Thanks for all your comments guys. The IO was unhappy about the number and length of Mon's trips out of country. She took four trips out and one was for 176 days and she counted each month as 30 days on crummy advice from Glendale Community College Citizenship Class. So she put down 155 days instead of 176. That may have been a red flag to him. But still she was out less than 18 months and never for 180 days or more. IO gave her the N-652, checked 'passed Eng. and Hist. & Gov't.', checked 'CIS will send written decision about app.' and checked 'A decision cannot yet be made about your app.' He also told her she would hear from him in one week regarding her case. She asked him pointedly, ' You will send me something in one week?' and he told her he would. It has been over a week but I'm not worrying about that. We just don't like being in limbo like this. Like most people on the board I filed everything myself, but since I cannot speak for Mon at an appeal I wonder if I should get a lawyer if we decided to appeal a denial.

why are you rushing ahead of yourself.. a written decision will be mailed so just wait whats hard about that? its only been a week. cases go pending at least he didnt deny your case. my advice is call the 800# and try to get an IO on phone they will see everything on their pc. they will ask for her alien number or case # and will tell you what has happened since her interview..even people who get approved wait and wait.. yours is not even approved in your case you should wait just like the approved people.. i dont see any point to appeal it doesnt do anything. if you had long trips you knew what you were getting in to...i mean her she knew what she was getting into..if shes approved or denied just wait it out. nothing else to do its been a week only

  11. NVC has nothing to do with application for a visitor's visa. The intending visitor applies for one at the nearest US consulate.

Depending on country when they are interviewed for the visa they may need to provide evidence of strong ties to home, and no intent to NOT overstay the allowed period of stay in the USA.

Note some citizen of some countries can visit the USA with out a visa, this is the Visa Waiver Program.

the lady is from pakistan. have you heard about any new visitor visa law or something? they were asking me since i live in the usa..she wants to know the process??????

A good place to start: http://islamabad.usembassy.gov/pakistan/ni...rist_visas.html

  14. hi everyone. i have mentioned before in other posts that at my interview the officer told me she approved me & would recommend me to the supervisor. but when i called yesterday they said on the phone that decision is not made yet. how long do they carry that on for? my reason for calling them is simple..someone who had the same interview with me has gotten oath date already. i know their case was simple as heck but what about the decision how long do they take..please dont scare me.

When was your interview, the date, same thing happened to my wife, it was her interviewer that stacked her papers away and learned she was suppose to get her oath appointment that day. I got teed off and called my senators office, wife got her oath letter e-mailed to me just a couple of hours later. I did call our field office, that was worthless, as you are suppose to contact the interviewer that handled your case.

If nothing happens in 120 days, you can take them to court, but that is a lot of extra trouble.

its been9 days to be exact. but the officer told me i will recieve something in a week its more then a week.

  16. if a minor needs to make a passport for the 1st time & we fill out the passport application do we need to bring the minors ss# card also along with both parents and our own IDs. what do we need exactly? for an american born child under 13 years of age?

SS#/Card is not a form of ID. Mainly birth certificate and parents ID are needed. See HERE for more.

yes ofcourse i know that! but do i need to show them the SSN also? cause i have the number but didnt get the original card mailed to me yet. i dont want to wait 2 weeks for it i want to apply for the passport asap
