Have you contacted your congressman/woman yet?

no i have heard that when you do that the USCIS takes longer to complete your case or better yet deny you if you even had the slight mistake of travel and they were thinking about letting you be granted then you complain then you are outiiee !!

Who exactly did you hear that from? They can't deny you citizenship just like that. There are processes in place. The August filers got good responses when they contacted their Senators office. Shrek if I was in your place I'd take my case to the top. But that's just me. Your not doing anything illegal by asking them. That's not complaining, thats you inquiring about your file. All you want to know is when your letter is going to show up or rather what's taking so long. Don't let them control the situation .You paid a lot of money to be kept informed about whats going on with your file. Take the fight to them. Get your response, you paid for it!!!!! They are not doing us a free service, our tax money pays their federal wages.

Sorry for the ranting...I'll get off my soap box now

hello thanks for your reply i called the IO line that 800 number they have on the reciept, she did a service request email and said they should tell you what their answer is in 4 weeks max, im guessing maybe 3 weeks. by then GUESS WHAT its going to be 90days anyway see how they mess with you?

  3. It's all a mind game  That and they know they have control over us

    :bonk:

finally they updated it and i got my january 2008 im way 30 days behind now since they updated it that far ahead. i hope they can let me do the service request as they claimed they were going to do any thoughts people?

  4. It was around the 15th for a while. Last month was towards the end of the month and VSC times went BACKWARDS. :ranting: I suspect they will again this month since they say March 4th when you call and talk to a humanbeing (for K3, maybe different for you guys :) )

im waiting for oath. If the dates move just 30 days ahead then i can open my mouth and ask to send in a service request which probably wont help but atleast im doing something about it Gosh im so mad!!!

Still haven't contacted your congressman yet, hun? Not saying anything more until you do. Haven't heard from my wife's friend yet, must be eleven months already since her interview where she has yet to receive her oath letter. I give up.

its been one year over all .

i keep checking they didnt update the DO dates why do they do that?

  6. i have read the news that in 2008 uscis has made significant progress.have you seen any progress because i sure havent?granted my n400 was processed in record time earlier this year but my k1 filing is dragging on so slow.they only shift the burden to another department?

i havent seen it either. maybe the progress is for the lucky fellows who get their IL in 4 months while we wait over one year?

  8.

Probably around a week or so.

i called the 800 number and got the IO to talk to me. she told me that i have to wait 30 days because the wait im in is normal for the cases they are working on. i will try to wait 30 days. I dont know what they are doing with this waiting period. why do they torture people :bonk:

I hear you. It sucks that they really don't give a proper answer when you speak with them. GL Shrek.

thanks for taking time out and replying. there are nice people who actually help.

  10. It depends. If they already processed the I-864 and all they had left to do is review the DS-230 and the documents, then it should take them 2-4 weeks to complete the case and make an appointment with the embassy if it's available.

thanks for answering no one else even bothered i thought people are supposed to help you even if your question seems rather lame to them.. thanks again buddy

  11. Shrek,

I can't tell you when to contact them. That's up to you when you want to contact them. If you think you have waited long enough then contact the senators office. You have two Senators contact either one of them. You should know who your Senators are and what they stand for on immigration issues. Of you don't know, use google and find them online. This is your file and your life take charge mate and get answers. The squeeky wheel gets the grease.

I WILL CONTACT THEM. how long do they take to response any idea from you all?? is it the same as a service request?

  12. The Only state that you can take the oath the same day is: NJ.

Nope, Not only NJ, Texas as well. You can take the oath at the same day.

i have noticed that IOs give you a different answer everytime you ask why you havent gotten oath letter. I asked one and they said they do a decision on a case in 6 weeks of time frame but cana take 120 max, then you will be waiting for oath which could take another 120 days.

does anyone have any news on oath or decision will be made? can i contact the congressman in this case or no?

Why not? Call their office and ask them about getting an inquiry into your Naturalization application. They will send you a release form. Fill it out , let them know what you want to know, fax it back and wait. Usually you will hear something back asap. All they do is inquire about your file and what's going on.

could it be possible they get mad and deny me the citizenship overall due to me calling the congressman?

    Shrek

The possibilities are endless what they could do. I know a few people on here who have contacted their Senators office and have got responses and got results. NickD is one. There is a post above that states he contacted them and he got results quickly. I highly doubt they could deny you citizenship based on contacting your Senators office. I don't think they look at it that way. I am assuming that they are use to this, given that each senator has a special person assigned to dealing with issues like this. Remember they have to answer to somebody if an inquiry has been made. Out here in MN we have a lot of DFL reps that will eat the feds alive if they mess with the constituents.

Oh when do you think i should contact the congressman or senator? which one? and dont forget to tell me when? its been 6 weeks for me waiting for decision will be mailed to you.

  16. What date did you have your interview? How long have you been waiting? I certainly do not have a crystal ball that is tuned into the USCIS. In our case, wife's IO stated she should get her oath letter within two weeks, let five weeks go by with nothing, then started raising hell.

my interview was 4 weeks ago. what do you mean you raised hell after 5 weeks? they have a 120 wait i dont think theres room for hell before the 120 days. thats the thing they have they give you days in hundreds and make you wait inside them. why cant they just give days like 30 days or 60 days..why does it say 540 days on the notice of action.they should just get to the point and go by years. you have to wait blah blah years.

Well not too much hell, contacted my senators office and politely asked them to make an inquiry for me as the oath letter was promised within two weeks, just a couple of hours later, wife's oath letter was e-mailed to me, said I could print that out and use it. Now granted, if that statement was not made to my wife, will receive the oath letter within two weeks, would have no recourse but to wait the 120 days. But also learned from this site, that others at the same time as my wife's interview received their oath notices at the end of the interview, mentioned that to my senator's office as well.

Forgot that I received a phone call from St. Paul first with apologies, here is a copy of her e-mail:

    "Dear Mr. NickD

Per our conversation attached please find Oath appointment letter for your wife, Gloria, which has been scheduled for September 3, 2008, check-in time is 8:30 a.m. ceremony will start at 9:00 and end at 9:30 am.

Appointment letter will also be send out via U.S. Mail.

If you have any questions, please contact me.

    Thx.

    Linda

This was on the Wednesday before, did get the original oath letter on Saturday, and the oath ceremony was on Tuesday. Wonder if we will still be waiting if I didn't make that call.

    ..

oh ok, i cant contact any one to help because i'm just going to wait like everyone. hey how about contacting the LORD? that should helep.

  18. All a question of proof, since I had my wife's SS-5 filled out from the last time on my computer, all I had to change was at line 3 Citizenship, form legal alien allowed to work to US Citizen, and line 14, Today's date, print it out and let her sign it. I waited until she got her US passport first, but could have jammed either that or her certificate of naturalization in an envelop and mailed it off taking the risk that she would either get her passport or certificate back.

Back 20 or so years ago, could go to the register of deeds and have a certified copy made, they don't do that anymore and it's like one government agency not only distrusts you, but they don't trust nor share information with other government agencies. Sending off the originals is a risk and from what I can gather, but cannot get straight answers on this, but the sender is the one taking that risk.

USCIS recommends you make copies of your certificate so in case it's lost, you send that copy in with a check for $380.00 plus two passport photos and a form, always a form, but why it takes a year for a one minute task is beyond me and do they really trust your copy? Or isn't all that stuff in your file or in a database someplace. And if in a database, why can't they use that? None of this makes sense.

Just got a brand new granddaughter, could see where my son and daughter-in-law were dead tired after that experience, said hold off on the birth certificate until you are rested. They fill out a form and can't believe the government trusts the doctor to sign it, shouldn't they send in the FBI?

Anyway, it's fun holding a baby again, both for my wife and me, the parents are nervous about it, it's their first one, we plan to spoil the heck out of her and have been, that is what grandparents are for, LOL.

nickD what are you saying how long will the wait?

  19. Before you travel, you need to update your SSN status.. I am still asking question to other people about the consequences of not updating the citizenship in the SSN information.. Some say its not a big deal, i can update when I come back.. But do not do the same thing I did, my job needed me to come back so I was not able to do it.. But you, if you have time and chance to update information why not do it?

Only thing I am aware of is that as a LPR, you cannot receive SS disability benefits that I do not understand, because as a LPR you are still paying the same FICA rates as a USC. But even if you did not change your status with the SSA, and you can prove you are a USC, why couldn't you get those benefits? You certainly paid for them, then we have politicians saying you may not even get your benefits, but SSA is very quick to take out 14.8% of your gross wages that amounts to a lot of money if you are working part time going to college, if you only earn 400 bucks, they take out 60 bucks and there are no refunds on that, once it's gone, it's gone forever. That's why we have all those insurance guys scaring the hell out of you, what about your kids if you get killed? Who will take care of them. So there is more money out of your pocket. Then they try to claim you committed suicide so don't have to pay that.

I am not aware of this Nick, we are working overseas, company pays for our insurance, and the child is our dependant.

We dont pay taxes here only Social Security Tax. We may go to the US next year and update my status., after I gave birth..

    congrats!
