    Can my wife send a copy of her passport for the I-130 that still has her maiden name, or do we need to get her a new one before we file.

    As long as her passport name is included in "Other names used", they will make the connection...

    She may want to for convenience and ease of travel but that is another question

    This is what I am talking about The Guide

    I posted this guide first created by Loto on VJWiki but it still needs tons of work, I see now some people are taking interest and are already trying to make it better.

    So what I am suggesting is give your opinion, critique and judgment so we can make it better.

    I invite all Wiki Masters to participate in this.

    What version of LOTO's guide did you use when creating the page on WIKI. I know that LOTO made a lot of changes and then published many version accordingly. He also told me to put it on wiki but then I got busy at work so I couldn't focus on it for a while. Meanwhile you published this guide on WIKI so over the weekend I made some correction for better look and feel.

    I can definitely contribute to WIKI page improving look and feel as well as content. :thumbs: Previously I worked mostly on James's Shortcuts. There is still more correction required on DS-230 section. I know that LOTO used to refer to wiki page of James's shortcuts while creating this guide for NVC process.

    Let's hope that other people also join in this effort as wiki syntax is not bad, and there is tons of help available online.

    It was the newest at the time 2.0 and I still think it is.

    I ALREADY HAVE PAID RECEIPT AND COVER LETTER FOR AOS.......WHAT DO I DO ABOUT THE DATE ON DS-230.....JUST FILL THE DATE HERE AND HAVE HER FILL OUT EVERYTHING BUT THE DATE? SO IT IS ONLY 400 FOR THE GREEN CARD I THOUGHT IT WAS LIKE OVER 1000.....AND WHEN CAN THE WORK ELIGIBILITY PAPERWORK BE FILLED OUT? I JUST WANT TO SPEED THIS UP AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.......

    hi VJ Members. i want to thank everyone for their kind support for helping me whenever i had a question or was in a dilemma. my AOS fee bill and IV Processing bill was generated on August. 29th to my lawyer. My lawyer didnt receive the notice(bill) as of today. i was lucky to get IIN # from a rep on Sept. 3rd, and paid both payments on same day. on Friday, Sept. 5th, I checked online to see if they were paid, and I was so happy that both payments were accepted. What is the next step to do? I know that i have to print the bar code and send my I-864 package. but would NVC accept the package without them sending me any further notice to send I - 864?

    Can somebody tell me what is next step,because I am confues.I got approval for my husband on the e-mail 8/28/08 and hard copy on 9/4/08 and when I call nvc they sad me that I have to wait 4-6 weeks for pacage,can I send to them DS 3032 and paid 864 bill,and whati is bar code ond the form DS -3032 because my husband alreaady signe,I don't want waist my time becaus ewe were waiting almost one year for approval I want my husband as soon as posiible wiht me thanks

    Why not start a VJ Wiki page for it? That way you can edit it at any time, plus it separates it from general chat so it won't get lost in miles of postings :thumbs:

    Hey Loto I am a newbie in this forum but I already studied your guide and I think it is the best thing since sliced bread :thumbs: . The only thing is that it took me hours and hours to dig it out, so my question is do you mind if I do something to popularize it? Oh and second is the 2.0 version the newest one?

    I see now it is on the first page but if you can change the topic name or something it will be way more googleble, and you know most people that get into this don't know what IR1-CR1 means so if you change it to something like "General guide - How to bring your foreign spouse to the US."

    QUESTION REGARDING THE AOS & IV FEE AT NVC

    So if I am not mistaking you are saying that the IR(CR) visa can be paid online at NVC, right after obtaining the INN or watever is called right? Does it create delay or speed up the process. Thanks in advance.

    The sooner you pay the sooner your case moves to the next step....

    OK i talked with the NVC and they said that I can only pay the $70 fee as the $400 has not been generated yet. How would I know if it has been generated will the automatic system tell me this information once I call them. The only thing is telling me right now is that they have recieved my approval notice and that the lawyer will get the rest. I talked to the lady at NVC and was told only to pay the $70 as the $400 has not yet been generated. I wanted to know if someone has done this before. How would I know that the $400 has been generated. Please help. thanks.

    Of course you cannot pay if the bill has not been generated. they won't know how or where to post the payment. My understanding is the automatic system is updated as things change. So when the IV fee is generated the system should indicate such.

    Thanks for the reply...i am seriously looking for any help bcz the lawyer is saying it might take another 6-7months for my wife to be here...its already been long thanks to VSC.

    Anyways, what happens if I pay the AOS fee...will the case be forwarded to the benficary country. Also if the IV Bill has not been generated then why is showing up under my NOT PAID at NVC payment website.

    Your I-130 case does not go forward to the consulate until all steps that NVC performs are complete.

    So how long does it take for the NVC to send the AOS & IV Fee Bill to my lawyer does it take week or longer.The automatic system says about 6-8weeks for lawyer to recieve the paper. By paying the bill online does it make the process faster or just the same. I was reading on one of the post here at VJ that paying the bill makes the process quicker as the case is completed and forwarded to the beneficary. Do you know why the IV Bill is showing under NVC website to pay if it has not been generated has this happen to you or anyone else reading this please reply.

    hi everyone!

    "newbie" here- sorry for this probably foolish question. i got my I-797C today. i was surprised to find an envelope from the USCIS Vermont Service Center in my mailbox (1. that was fast! 2. i thought i'd be CA). however, the NOA itself has the California Service Center address listed at the bottom. so, i'm assuming we are at CA and the NOA was stuffed in the wrong envelope...or? i'm in chicago, if that matters.

    Well that link is a little disconcerning, as it was dated 2006 and I know that there are may here that have had both approved and both to choose from so I am not sure what to think?????

    To cover the minimum requirement for AoS I need to file with a household member so my questions are:

    1. How much do I need to show?

    2. And is that a combination of my income and the household member income or the household member has to cover the full amount?

    This might be a stupid question but I was reading the instructions and I know for sure that if it is a joint sponsor they need to show the full amount.

    "A joint sponsor must be able to meet the income requirements for all the persons he or she is sponsoring without combining resources with the petitioning sponsor or a second joint sponsor"

    Rajaa,

    Ok, Just ignore the K3. Look at Lottos shortcuts for th eCR1. When it gets to the NVC, you can call the NVC to get the NVC case number. Also you can get the IIN number by talking to the operator, but I would suggest that you call at night, they seem to be more friendly and willing to give you the number.

    Hey everybody, first I want to say that this forum ROCKS!!!! Then I need to ask you a question.

    I was reading the instructions for I-130 and got to:

    What Documents Do You Need to Prove Family Relationship?

    I. Affidavits sworn to or affirmed by third parties having personal knowledge of the bona fides of the marital relationship. (Each affidavit must contain the full name and address, date and place of birth of the person making the affidavit, his or her relationship to the petitioner of beneficiary, if any, and complete information and details explaining how the person acquired his or her knowledge of your marriage); or

    J. Any other relevant documentation to establish that there is an ongoing marital union.

    What should those look like any suggestions?

    I would appreciate any help!
