  1. How long before they take the money for I-130. I sent it overnight and it was received on Oct 21st but still they didn't cash the check is that normal?

Anywhere from 3 days to two weeks. Depends how busy they are.

CSC is not busy all the time and has proven to be better center that vermont (at least right now) so be patient you have to wait little longer till you get the approval.

Don't worry because they love money more than you do.

It is CSC. What worries me is that my mom sent the same petition few weeks ago and it only took the 3 days.

  2. I couldn't find a topic with any October fellow filers so I decided to start one on my own. So anyone out there?!

oh youll find plenty...they are just all from october of last year!

 Don't be like that. None from 2008

    dont be like what? hahaha

its true! there are MANY people still waiting from October of last year :)

and afterall...you didnt specify what year in your original post :)

I am sorry to hear that, but I hope everything will move faster for you from now on. I wish you best of luck.

  3. Your case has moved the fastest I have ever seen. Congratulations for that! I wish I saw more people move that quickly. As for the packet, there is just the one where you send the DS-230 in with all required documents. The other packet you hear about is the appointment letter with instructions for what to do to prepare for that interview (so nothing to worry about). It looks like your doing fine. Good luck!

    You are welcome

  6. Hi everyone! I am working on my I-130 Petition and I got to the biographic information. Obviously I am stuck so I am asking for your help.

    On G-325a:

This form is submitted in connection with an application for:

    Naturalization

    Other (Specify):

    Status as Permanent Resident

I have to check one of the above. Is it status as permanent resident or should I check Other (Specify): and put I-130 Petition?

    Thank you

You should check Other (Specify) and write I-130 Spouse

It looks like this: Other (Specify): I-130 Spouse

That is what I wrote on my G-325a and it was approved.

    Martina

    Thank you!

  8. Our I130, I129F, and G325A forms were all like that. I created a (word) document that I attached to each form and called it "I130 supplemental" (each form had a seperate supplemental). We referenced the section number and line number aka Section 3 line 2a and typed in what was supposed to go in that field.

I created that form after I put the entire package together, and signed and dated each supplement (including the supplement for my wife's G325A) and paperclipped it to the form. It must have been OK, everything has been processed with no problems through AOS approval.

I figured it out  I used Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.0. Just open the form with it go to the text box you need to expand and stretch it. Only one thing, when you save it all of your inputs on the form will disappear and you have to start ALL over again. Good Luck! And thank you!!!

  9. I don't think it matters at all because it is ap personel choice and easy to explain if asked. However, take your time and fill the paperwork out correct and you should be fine. my wife is chinese and does not want to keep her family name. She has choosen to take mine by her choice. But, it is true most chinsese women choice to keep there family name and never change it even when they marry another chinese man there.

Thank you all for responding. Now I don't feel silly anymore, I feel confident

  10. Traditions vary and name changing at marriage is a personal choice. For example, in China women traditionally keep their same name all their life. My wife kept hers but understands some people may call her by my family name. She's ok with that. Even in the US, it is becoming quite common for women to keep their maiden name when married.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

  11. Hello everybody! I have a silly question. I am debating now with my fiancee whether we should change her name or keep her maiden name when we get married. My only concern is the government workers that see fraud in any marriage. We want to keep her maiden name because it will save us tons of time and effort. But I want the hole process to go smoothly so I am kind of paranoid. So what do you think?

    Thank you all!

From your info it says you are going after a CR1/IR1 so I assume you are already married? I am the US citizen and when I married my husband I kept my maiden name just to keep everything simple during the process. When he comes to the USA I will change my name to his. Hope this info helps. I am not sure if this is possible or how it works if your wife is not the USA citizen.

Thank you all for the response I appreciate it. How did not changing your name affect the speed of your approval?
