thank you all for the responses just wanted to make sure it won't be an issue!

I'm a USC and my wife is in Jordan. We lived together for 15 days after we got married and now I'm putting together my I130 petition to bring her to the states. Is living together for short period of time going to be an issue?

Thanks guys! Just wanted to make sure I can hand write it.

I'm filling out I130 for my wife and her name has acute accent ( Ala' ). When I try to type the( ' ) in the form I get an error message saying only letters allowed. What should I do in the case? Can I just hand write it after I print the form. I'm trying to write her name exactly as in her passport and other documents.
Thanks,

I'm getting ready to submit my petition next month and have few question:
1. My non USC spouse was married before, do I need to submit both the divorce decree and the divorce certificate or just one of them?
2. Can I translate the documents myself or do I need to use a certified translator?
3. I only need to submit photocopies at this point, no need to submit originals. Is that right?
Thanks and wishing you all a happy new year!

I'm getting ready to submit i130 for my wife and wondering if I'm going to have any problems giving that I got married 2 months after my divorce was finalized. My first marriage to a USC lasted 5 years and was entered in good faith and my second wife got divorced 8 months ago as well and we both have kids from our previous marriages.

You should play it safe and wait until the 5 year mark. You won't get an RFE, you will get a denial. 5 years means 5 years, not 4 years and 11 months. Good luck and keep us updated. Always nice to see new members from Jordan!
Thanks! The instructions says a period of years has elapsed since you became a LPR OR you can establish by clear and convincing evidence that the prior marriage wasn't entered into the purpose of evading any provisions of the immigration laws. So I don't think it will be an automatic denial but probably will delay my case.

I have a question regarding when to submit my I130. I was married to my USC spouse for 5 years before we got divorced. My new wife is in Jordan and we got married two months after my divorce was final. I will be ready to submit my i130 in the next two weeks but if I wait until the end of January it will be more than 5 years since I got my LPR status (USC now). I have tons of evidence that I entered my first marriage in good faith including joint assets, child, multiple vacations together, tons of pics, etc. so that's not a concern.
Would it make any difference to wait until the 5 years mark or should I just go ahead and file? I just don't want to file now and end up getting RFE. But I might get a RFE regardless I assume?

Changing departments isn't a concern for them as long as you have income.

ok everyone.
I had this also, I am the usc and I had my interview last week at Chicago. we have no red flags just random interviews
What kind of questions they asked?

This email was written weeks ago...long before your "campaign".
Just wondering how did you know?
-
Congrats!! When did you file?
-
I take it the average processing time just dropped by two weeks after your fast approval Congrats tho and good luck to evreryone else at least it seems like USCIS giving I130 petitions higher prority now.

You just get really lucky....

I totally agree with alaskafan. We need to keep the pressure on until we see actual results.... good start!!!

Very good news.

From what we've experienced, it's mostly A LOT of waiting and TRYING to be patient. Both processes seem to average about 1 year, from start to green card.... but some couples appear to get lucky. We had considered both options for being together. After reading the pros and cons of both, we ended up choosing the K-1 route based upon what we thought was best for our particular situation... btw, we live in the Seattle area and are in the AOS process now... but still waiting.
Try not to be discouraged. I understand you miss the great NW... but I'm sure the rain and coffee (and perhaps other familiar things) will still be here to greet you when you return
Good luck to the two of you on your journey!
P.S. my wife gets bored when I'm at work, mostly because she has not yet been approved to "legally" work in the US, if you can believe that.. lol
Agree with the post above. The whole process takes about a year unless you one if the lucky ones who gets approved quicker. Btw... I'm also in Washinghton State specifically in Vancouver ?

You only need copies at this stage, Nothing original or certified.
-
If you know the place where to do it, why don't you do it?
Planning on it just wondering if anybody tried then no point I me doing it.

Sorry if posting in the wrong forum but has anybody tried to write to CNN or Fox News to cover I130 delays and maybe talk to someone from USCIS to hopefully speed up the process?
That's the link for CNN:
-
Sad... that's a very long time.
-
Even if this is the case, the processing time won't change because the can run the two backgrounds checks at the same time. Not to mention, the petitioner background check will be quicker for the most part.
-
Good question. I hope they know what they doing. Otherwise things will just get slower and slower.

You means her kids live in US with their dad ad she wants to visit or their in Jordan?
If they live in US even more reason to deny her?
No her kids live in Jordan and they will not be coming with her to visit.
