  1. I think i answered this before but if not: He will need to take his passport and go into the consulate sign the eligibilty to marry then go to Rabat and go to two different locations... I can't seem to remember but it took an entire day...

after the approval of from both locations and a stamp you go back to your location for us it was Casablanca and go through the judge there....(mixed marriage typically are on the bottom of the pile btw). They asked for my certificate of conversion and my pay stubs (not sure why and that's not even posted on the embassy of needed docs but i brought them anyway thank Allah).

We took a sealed paket to the police headquaters here it is helpful if he has his resume' they will ask him his timeline from education to work history.. they will type up another form and you take that packet to the head judge near the palace.

after there you will wait my husband the moroccan citizen had to meet with the judge once we had that we had to go back to the original judge for mixed marriages and wait for them to type of the remaining papers.... after that you pick up your marriage doc.. I think i have a pic of it somewhere authorizing you to marry then go to the Masjiid and have the contract signed ..phew that's it then the ceremoney... so three days???? good luck all that was done in @ 2 weeks and we had "connections"

Also make sure all documents are translated there as well as your certified birthcertificate and police record. Also have him bring all the docs for your immergration and sign them there or download them and print them and sign them .....

    how's that ? :)

thanks rajaa for the answer, i started this post because i got confused, i called the consulate yesterday to ask about the documents my fiancé needs to get the eligibilty to marry and the guy who answered me was really confusing, he said that he needs his passport, his divorce certificate, his pay stubs, his bank statements, his tax returns!!!!!! and i find it strange that they ask for all these things so i wanted to be sure

as for the papers of immigration can he put a date later when he wants to send them or should it be all filed in computer???

  2. For the eligibility to marry document, you just take your passport to the consulate and they will give you the form to sign. Your fiance can't enter with you into the consulate.

This is by far the easiest step in your journey. We waited for more than one month to get approval to marry. But then again we married in the Western Sahara in a very small town.

If you are in a bigger city then things should move along more swiftly.

thanks for the answer, more than 1 month to get the approval to get married!!!! :crying: we have only one week

  3. In Nepal (Kathmandu embassy) all I needed was my US passport. If I had been previously married I believe I would have needed divorce decree or death certificate. This of course is separate from what the Nepali gov't required for court marriage, just what the USEM asked for. I believe the fee was also $30. They did allow my husband(then fiance) to come to the window with me and asked me a few questions - how did we meet, etc. - I was unprepared and messed up when the CO asked for Govi's birth date. I am hoping that little mistake won't cost us at Govi's interview.

thanks for the answer, i think the fee is also 30$ in Morocco too but as girls posted here my presence is not necessary

  4. from here you need birth certificate, divorce papers, paper of religion, drivers liscense, passport, and i believe i had a paper from my work, hard to remember now, these i sent ahead and had him to get translated and it still took us 2 1/2 weeks. First we went to dept of ministeries in rabat, this the citizen goes in alone to get the paper, then casa embassy, again citizen only alone and i believe pay $30, then that paper has to go back to rabat. Then the fun begins in the city courts, you to go to the police, then back and forth between courts and different agencies to get stamps. It is a long hard process both need to be present because they ask US citizen the questions. Be sure you take the religion paper from here as they dont provide easily, i didnt because i had been told they could do it there and they wouldnt, so a man of the court made and certified a statement for me. Oh and the US citizen must do a dr appoint there with Moroccan Dr, if i think of more i will write

thanks for the reply, i have translated all the papers that we need to save time as my fiancé can not stay more than one week, i'm trying to find connections to help me with this process, some people with good connections finished the process in only 3 days!!!! hope it will goes fast for me too

do you think we need pay stubs, bank statements, tax returns to get the paper from the consulate??????? i think i've read that somewhere; please correct me if i am wrong

  5. i use voipbuster to call my fiancé in usa , i pay 10.5 euro and i call for 4 months for free to usa landline and mobile, after 4 months they start charging you and after you finish your 10 euro you can buy a new credit and another 4 months for free..... and you have many other destinations for free

check website for more information www.voipbuster.com

and you can have a history of calls that you can print when needed for the interview

  6. Kiati,,, i am here.. I've been out of a town. Did you have any questions??? How was your Ramadan?

thanks rajaa, i was really busy gathering all information and documents that we will need to get married and also to file for k-3 later, my fiancé send me all documents to translate, i'll translate them and go to court to see if all papers are ok to be sure that there will be no problems once my fiancé comes here.

wish me good luck , i have not started the real journey yet and i'm so worried :crying:

  7. hi vjs

my fiancé is a USC and we are getting married in december so now we are just busy planning for everything and studying the visas guidelines to choose the best one for us, at first we decided to take the k-3 road as it seemed to take less time than IR-1/CR-1, but when we compared vjs members timelines for both visas we got confused as we noticed that sometimes the IR-1/CR-1 took almost the same processing time as k-3 if not less and the advantage with IR-1/CR-1 is that i can get my greencard upon arrival to USA not like k-3 who needs more time and processing

so now we want to know what do you think is the best way to take and what are the documents that we should submit first, cause when we've read the guideline for IR-1/CR1 we found that only I-130 and G-325A should be submitted but when we checked for IR-1/CR-1 members timelines we found that some sent I-130 and I-129F together when they started their petition and others who sent I-129 later and others who didn't sent I-129 at all

we are really confused, please try to explain us the process step by step in your own words and from your own experiences, we have read all the guidelines in VJ so no need to send us links

    thanks for you help

  8. first get your eligibilty to marry docs organized... once it looks like you too have done so (btw a religious ceremony is recognized in the US if you can get an Imaam to do that and sign papers??)

FYI it was not easy for me to get a certificate of conversion here... I finally found a Masjiid that would my own didn't know "how" to do it... can you believe that???

thanks rajaa, you are a sweet lady, i really appreciate your help

my fiancé is a muslim so we don't need any conversion certificate , we just need a certificate from "ADOUL" to state that he is muslim and this is easy to do

after all that is done and you have had your ceremony Insha'allah... then start filling out the K3 forms.

is it necessary to have a big marriage ceremony right after getting marriage certificate??? we are planning to have a very small party just to take pictures to send with k-3, there won't be any guests just my family (parents and brothers and sisters) but we are intending to have a big party later because we need to plan for that and we don't have time right now to do that

Hiring a lawyer??? I had a friend work with a lawyer regarding her fiance in morocco... it took them over 4 month just to send in the documetnation... for me with the help of VJ I sent it off in days after my arrival to the U.S.

Don't waste your time or money on a lawyer unless you have unusual circumstances...if "normal" save your money!!! were here to help

we don't have a special case, everything is normal...alhamdoulilah....i won't let him hire a lawyer, we will do it ourselves with your help of course, don't let me down plzzzzzzzzz

  9. if you do go K3 make sure you get your origina birth certificate and translated..police record and translated. He should download all G325 forms you will need to go to the headings under "downloads" print all paperwork for k3 and you should sign where you need to sign perhaps make a couple and sign all just in case.

yes we decided to go the k-3 way and i suggested him not to hire a lawyer and that we can do it ourselves, he is not sure we can make it but i told him that we will find all support from VJ members who have been through this process before us

Also, tell him to brink small bills as any sort of "help" to anyone who asks for money "to speed things up" does help.... like the clerk at the head court needed some "coffee money" that extra couple of drms got us to the head of the line...

I know it's not "cool" or "fair" but in morocco that's just the way business is done.

i am moroccan and i know how things work here, if you want things to go faster then you should give money but we are ready to do it if tis will speed up the process

Also be advised the consulate said they WILL keep spinning you around back and forth... they will keep sending you away to get more items better he is over prepared then not. Also, when they see his paystubs (like they did mine) suddenly they're interested in what you can do to help them with... "lunch, coffee" whatever... just fair warning

i thought that we will go to the consulate the first day only to get the marriage eligibility certificate, isn't it ??? or do we have to go to the consulate many times???

get pics of your ceremony you and he with family and friends... also get statesments in English (affidavids) stating they know you two are a legtimate couple... the more the better

inshallah we'll try to do that but we have to finish preparing documents to get married first and then start gathering documents and evidences we need for k-3

do you think we should start filling the forms(I-130 I-129F G-325a ) all at once after he gets here or do we have to wait until he returns back to usa and then he sends me forms to sign and date???

  10. we will go K-3 way, we want to be together as soon as possible and CR-1 way is too long for us

Couldn't you go K-1 and get married here? That's what we did. We had a marriage ceremony in Morocco for her (huge) family without the civil (legal) part. Then after we were married legally here we registered the marriage through the consulate in New York.

    Either way good luck!

thanks for your advice, my fiancé suggested the same thing but my family didn't accept it, they are too conservative , they didn't accept that i travel with him without being married first

  11. After everything is received and translated make sure to make 3 copies of everything, and get their official stamp on all of the originals and copies as well.

thanks for your advice we will do that inchallah

i too, agree, it takes some weeks to accomplish all this

bring anything and everything for proof

    paystubs

    letter from employer

    birth cert

letter from church or baptismal records for religion

    passport

your local police station can steer you direction of police record BUT..allow time to receive it as well

money money money for the things to get done

CONSULATE for ELIGIBILITY OF MARRIAGE 1ST AND FOREMOST!

    ummm divorce papers...definitely

and all english documents must be translated into arabic, which is much cheaper in morocco

i am certainly saw first hand how difficult it was to get married over there

i am american and husband is moroccan

we thought it would never come to fruition and honestly the judge in rabat probably could have continued his long list of things we needed to keep obtaining

it was very tiresome and back and forth daily and runnin around with our heads cut off

if not for my husband i could have never done it

thank god, we received our marriage

good luck to you as well

thanks for your reply, we are gathering all the documents needed and i will translate them before he comes to Morocco to save time, as for the time the process take, it's really too long, they are complicating things too much , hope everything will go smoothly and we will definitely use money to make it go fast :dead:

  12. ok get ready... when we got married in May it wasn't easy.. the consulate said "if you can find a way to get married let us know it is very hard"

make sure he has passport, certificate of conversion, pay stubs (yep they really asked for it), original divorce decrees (if divorced) and bring a resume for police interview. Police record local or federal is better must have some sort of stamp on it they get really weird about it if it doesn't.

day one.. go to us consulate and get evidance of eligibility to marriage.

You will need this (see the moroccan eligibility requirements) after that is finished you'll need to go to Rabat. We had to get two stamps one at a police station and another at the justice (oooh i forgot the name) this took an entire day. two different forms

then you need to go to the local mixed marriage judges office in your city... fill out paperwork and show proof of stamps. another day. They will have you come back and see the judge (hopefully only one or two days)

Then you pick up a packet from the judge to take to headquarters police (you're best bet is if you know someone there to be seen that day) we were lucky my husband grew up with one of them and they took us streight to the interview

then you need to go to the headquarter's police station for an interview (like a interrogation I suggest your fiance bring a resume' they'll ask all things of dates of school studies, work dates, everything) He asked me all things ... do i pray, do i pray in Arabic or English did my fiance help me... what books of Islam have i read etc etc.

then if all is good you get a stamp (one day)

then you take this new packet to the head courts (can't remember the name) again we had connections so we only did this in a day (we knew a judge) my husband had an Interview of sorts they gave him another piece of paper to take back to the first court (judge) we started this from.

next day went to the first judge in the morning and submitted all stamps and packets had to come back at end of day (mixed marriages were done last) we were the 2nd to the last on thursday to get our final papers of ability to marry.

Friday submitted all documents to Imaam and Shiek...said my Shahadah again signed papers (4 copies). We were "officially married"

    next day marriage ceremony (party)

Take lots of picutres... total time for all of this is @ 2 weeks including weekends. We were fortunate that we had "friends" in places though.

ohhh and have your marriage certificates translated while he is there also get your origninal birthcertificate and police record all translated. If you're going for a k3 or a cr1 there are other forms i would suggest him bring for you to sign to save some troubles later.

Insha'allah all this will go smoothly for you and Alhamdolilah you found Visa journey before you started.

thankyou rajaa for your help, it was really useful for us, i sent him what you've written here and now he is happy because he started to undertsand this process better , he couldn't undertsand why it is so complicated to get married in Morocco!!!

    we will go K-3

way, we want to be together as soon as possible and CR-1 way is too long for us

  13. salam alaykom

    it's easy don't panic.

    thanks for you answer

    - certificate of residency if your fiance an american he do not need this certificate but he should bring with him sitizenship certificate.if he is a permanet resident he should go and ask at police departement for this certificate if he couldn't get it try to make just a phorocopie of his residensy card" gree card".

he is an american citizen and he already have his citizenship certificate and i thin at the consulate here they gave this certificate with eligibility to marriage certificate

-police record he can get it from police departement.

    that's what i told him

-for islam certificate when he come here you will do it for him in LA3DOUL the man who will write your marriage certificate.

    that's easy then

DO NOT FORGET to ask him to do his test blood once he come here then take him to LA3DOUL for making islam certificate

what test blood???? should we go to a doctor to give us what tests to do or what??

u should have connection in police department here in morocco to make the process easier and faster.

yes i'm already trying to find connections to help us with this process

i'm from MEKNES .by the way if he is an american

1-ask him to take appointement with US embassy for eligibility to marry certificate .

2-the next steep is to go to ملحقة وزارة الخارجية بالرباط to stamp this certificate ask if u have to translate it first then u stamp it or to stamp it then to translate it .

-make a copie of his birth certificate and stamp it too

3-go to وزارة العدل بالرباط من اجل الحصول على السجل العدلي

that really useful thanks so much

MY ADVISE is have a COLD BLOOD espacily in POLICE STATION :crying:

inchallah, hope everything goes well

ALLAH HELP U AND LEAD U HIS 3IBADO TO HELP U.

    RAMADAN MOBARAK

thanks same to you, please answer me back concerning the blood test

  14. A statement of religious denomination would be issued by whatever mosque he goes to. We don't have legal statements of this in teh USA. USA does not issue police certificates.... best he could do is go down to the local police department and see if they would print up somehting saying he has no record. Vertificate of residency is weird... maybe a lease copy or something from the county showing property ownership?

    thanks for your help

  15. For residency i would think drivers license would do, i know i had to show mine and birth certificate

Police record could be obtained from the local police agency or the local Bureau of Investigation

Religion im not sure, as i got a statement when i was there..(and not Muslim) any paper or statement from past or statement of someone within his religion group that can state this.

It took us 2 1/2 weeks from beginning to end and every day was busy with doing something or waiting on this paper it is quite tiring...if u want to talk send me message and i will try to remember more..its good anything u can translate before will help alot and they will also do the passport after there along with the drivers license....also the process goes quicker with a little money

thanks for your reply, i'll try to remember every advice, and prepare ourselves for this long process

  16. hi all

my fiancé and I are getting married soon inchallah but we need to gather documents to get married here in Morocco, i got a list of the documents, now my fiancé in USA needs to send me some documents to translate before he comes here in Morocco to get married, but we are little bit confused so we need help from those who have been through this process who seems really complicated to us

my fiancé needs to know where to get those documents in USA

    - certificate of residency

    - police record

    - a notarized statement of religious denomination ( to cerify that he is a muslim)

and we also want to know the length of time required for this process from the start to the end

thanks for your help and if you have any other information that may help us please don't hesitate to leave a comment

  17. Ossa, we did not know that my husband can ask for an expedite request. My husband did in June, you can see in my signature!!

    This is my history:

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141145

Shpat, I have a severe accident in 2006, and I have a disability, I am a physical handicap, I need help in the most of my daily routine and medication for the pain.

I have post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, flash backs, depression, ... and bunches of problems in my everyday life!!!

The good news is that I am a miracle, God is doing a wonderful work with me! I am alive and now I can walk again!

My life is not easy anymore, never again!!!

    GOOD LUCK TO EVERYBODY!

i'm really sorry to hear that, i know how it feels, it's really hard to be alone far from you husband in your situation, wish you all the best luck to be approved soon

i saw your story thread, you said that you filled for I-130 in december but why did you wait until june to ask for an expedite request ??

what's the best moment to ask for an expedite?? is it from the start or after getting NOA-1

best of luck to you all

  18. Depending on how long the waiting period is after getting your marriage license, you can get married almost immediately upon entering the US on a K-1 so... you don't have to break any religious laws if you don't want to. I know you can go to Vegas and get married w/o any wait at all.

I know that a civil marriage probably isn't what you want though and a religious ceremony might take more time to pull together. But try if you can to work things out so you can do a K-1. The wait for the others is really rough on even the strongest couples.

thanks for reply, i know waiting really hurts but we can't start k-1 visa even if we want to be together asap

  19. I have been waiting for 7 months!!!

I have an Expedite request approved! In my case, I am the person with the medical problems!! I am the beneficiary (The non-usa citizen).

    Good luck!

sorry to hear that, hope everything goes well for you, it's strange that it didn't work for you, i saw some timelines for people with expedite request and it was fast

  20. With a CR-1 visa the process takes longer but over the long term costs less. You also get a green card right away after you arrive in US. With a K-3 visa the process is shorter but you need to adjust status after you arrive in the US, before you can get a green card, which costs alot more. There are 2 reasons you could be granted an expidite. Medical and Humanitarian. If you are sick or have a family member in the US who is very ill or dying a expidite may be granted so you can be together to support each other in this time of crisis. You would need proof from a doctor that proves the medical condition for the expidite to be considered. The other possibility is if there is a problem in your spouse's country which makes is risky or dangerous for your spouse to stay in that country. It could be a natural disaster, like a flood, or government persercution. Either way again proof will be needed to show the danger. I wish you the best in your new life together.

    JBHypno

thanks for your reply but need to know how much time it takes for a k-3 to get approved and also a CR-1, just to see if it's worth waiting for the CR-1

you said that we can ask for expedite both for medical and humanitarian, what if it's the beneficiary who is sick not the petitioner , will this make the process faster???

  21. i am a new vj member, this is my first post here, i am here to learn what's the best way for me and my fiancé to get together faster, as we may not go through k-1 visa even if it is the easiest , we might have to get married and start a k-3 visa or cr-1 (i'm still confused, can't make the difference btw the two)

we are trying to understand all the process before getting married just to know what we will go through and get no surprises in the future, i have read here that you can make expedite requests to make your case go faster but what i can't figure out what are the reasons we can give to get an expedite request approved by the USCIS, can you help me with this please, any information can be helpful

    thanks for you all
