  1. ..., I lived in the Low Countries for more than twenty years. If my career hadn't taken an unexpected direction, we'd still be there! (Don't get me wrong, I love the USA, however there are other wonderful places to live, as well.)

Definitely. We still have family in Oosterwolde and part of our family is from Oosterbeek. It has been more than 20 years since I was last there. :(

  2. Well we heard from that job Phil applied to in NY where my brother in law works. They definitely want to hire him but because of current changes in the company, they don't have a timeline yet for a start time. I guess this is fortunate news for us because we really didn't want to move until we get his 10 yr GC anyway. I just hope it all lines up at a time that works out!

Pretty cool. Hopefully it all works out.

  3. Ohh I see now! I'm definitely going to look in to this. I'm not sure how the expediting process works. Perhaps I can call and speak to someone who would tell me if our situation would qualify for expedition. Thanks! :)

The way I read it is that if you file the change of address and something bad happens, you are off the hook and they expidite your paperwork. Kinda like a safety net. I'd need to do more research too though.

  4. I was thinking about this for people who move and don't get the RFE (if there is one):

What happened: USCIS issued an adverse decision based solely on a customer’s failure to appear at a biometrics appointment or failure to respond to an RFE, NOID, or NOIR

Why it was a mistake: USCIS determines there is evidence that the customer properly submitted a change of address prior to the issuance of the RFE, NOID, NOIR, or biometric appointment notice; howeverUSCIS sent the RFE, NOID, NOIR, or biometric appointment notice to a previous or improper address.

This allows you to get an expidite. It's item number 3.

  5. Thanks for sharing! It certainly is frustrating, this whole process. I mean, I understand why USCIS takes immigration so seriously but I really wish it didn't take 9+ months to remove conditions on a GC...

This is how I picture a day at VSC -> 8-9am: Let me see what I missed in this morning's paper...:reading: 9-10am: "Oh! Jane! I have the best gossip you just HAVE to hear..." :secret: Noon: "Is it 5 yet?" :clock: 2pm: Something to pass the time... :dancing: 5pm rolls around... I didn't approve one application today! Oh well!

    Me = :wow::protest:

You forgot doing this at their desks: :pop: plus sleeping, if we had that icon.

  6. Man I really do hope VSC picks up speed... <_< Phil went through the entire interview process at that job I mentioned a while back. It's located in NY but we've been upfront with them regarding the GC and about not wanting to move until it's in our hand.

Pretty bold angle to work; hopefully it turns out well for both of you. My boss just waited a month or so for someone to start who had other commitments but she gave a firm starting date; immigration kinda leaves you in limbo.

Do you think it's worth it to stake your future on VSC?

  7. Hello to all the VJ members here.

I contacted my congresswoman on 04/12/2012 and told her counsel of my situation of how I left out my wife's name

on the G-325a form by accident and I received an RFE for this. She stated that an RFE changes the processing time

and puts you in another stack of files, but she would send an email to them, but do not expect anything even though

it was a simple oversight on my part.

Well today she sent me an email and called me personally to say this:

    "Good news from USCIS!

    Hi Rodrique,

The I130 petitions have been approved today 4/13/12. The approval notices will be mailed to the petitioner’s address of record and the petitions will be forwarded to the National Visa Center for processing."

Please let me know if we can assist any further.

Best wishes to you and your family,

    CAROL ARMSTRONG | DISTRICT COUNSEL

    Congresswoman Renee Ellmers (NC-2)

    910-230-1910 (telephone) | 910-230-1940 (telefax)

    406 W. Broad Street | Dunn NC 28334

    carol.armstrong@mail.house.gov | www.ellmers.house.gov

I called USCIS to verify this and checked the website and there is no change there. I have not received a text message or an email yet,

but I will take what she as truth and with a grain of salt.

What do you all here think of this.......should I jump for joy or wait for the official verification before sounding the alarm to my wife?

It is very coincidental to receive this 1 day after she emailed them, but it is a great feeling.

I am now awaiting the I-797 and/or text message and email to really jump for joy.

Now to the next stage as I already have the necessary documents.

Thanks all and I wish all a speedy NOA 2.

I'd let your wife know what you told all of us. I think you shouldn't have any reason to doubt your congresswoman. I bet everything will be start moving shortly.
