  1. Obama has 3 groups to deal with (conservatives, moderates & liberals) and regardless of what he does 2 out of the 3 groups will say he's doing the wrong thing. As I have said before it's pretty clear all the conservatives want is to get back the oval office in 2012 (and see Obama fail) & the liberals can't see the forest through the trees (i.e. they would rather be stubborn than compromise) so Obama needs to align himself with the moderates & tell the other two groups to go have sex with themselves. Besides IMO the moderates are the most reasonable of the 3 groups anyways.

  2. hmmmm...i may have to join.

Try it, if you don't like it you can stop playing. The games rely of players having multiple members so you can help your friends out by just starting the game.

It is a painfully easy game to play... you accumulate money in game by doing "jobs" and winning fights against other mafias. Sadly winning fights is 1% skill based & 99% the size of your mafia. You can acquire weapons & items that increase your attack & defense stats, which makes your mafia tougher. For example my mafia only has 26 people (very small by game standards) yet I have won over 50% of my matches... partially because I attack smaller mafias & partially because I have lots of items.

  3. Ubama, Hussein still has a lot of time remaining in his presidency.

What is Ubama, Hussein president of?

By any objective measure the Bush doctrine was a failure. However now that Obama is President all the right can do is criticize and make silly statements based entirely on rhetoric (see OP's comment above). The POTUS has four elements of national power: "Diplomatic," "Information," "Military" and "Economic" power, or DIME, at his disposal. The Bush doctrine relied very heavily on the Military element & as the saying goes if your only tool is a hammer everything looks like a nail. It seems to me that President Obama's intent is to use all 4 elements.

My question is if you don't like Obama's foreign policy what's the alternative? I'm looking for an answer with some substance & not the usual empty rhetoric.

  4. You guys are missing the point. The piece of sh!t who did this was obviously NOT a law abiding citizen. It's highly unlikely he was licensed to carry the gun he used. People who are licensed to carry hand guns rarely do stupid things like this. The fact that someone would jump through the necessary hoops to get a license would mean they are inclined to follow the law. Besides, if he really felt threatened by the dog then he would have shot the dog rather than the owner.

You can pass all the gun control laws you like, but you're not going to stop scum like this from killing people. Gun control laws only affect people who actually FOLLOW the law.

    Agreed !

I also agree with Charles on this one. I hope they catch the guy & he's convicted of murder (there is absolutely no way that self defense can be argued unless there are some extraordinary facts missing from the story).

  5. The part of the advice given that I would question is submitting the expedite request with the I129F. I successfully expedited our petition based on national interest/ military reasons but was informed that I could not submit an expedite request until we got our case number back from USCIS. Like others have said submit deployment orders (if you have them) with your expedite request and/or a signed letter from the unit commander (on unit letterhead). My expedite was approved in like 3 days & the petition was approved in something like 45 days. Good luck!

  6. This topic has been covered before on VJ & it was proven quite definitively that President Obama did not lie about this issue. The health care bill specifically disallows coverage of illegal aliens, but since enforcement measures are spotty some will slip through the cracks. To say President Obama lied about this would be like saying cops "allow" crimes to be committed (since not all crimes are prevented). Very misleading & flawed "logic" by the OP.

  7. Don't you guys ever get tired of arguing incessantly over this stuff?

It's one thing to be politically active and aware, but post after post about liberal this and conservative that at the sake of baiting ppl to make a response and then crucifying ppl when they do make the response and oppose your view is stupid on both sides. What is being accomplished besides arguments that go nowhere on here? I see both liberals and conservatives doing this on VJ. How about debate without calling ppl "Brainwashed" or "Nazi"? How about going out and doing something to make a difference other then sitting on VJ and yelling on a soap box?

Because most of them enjoy arguing... the last thing on their mind is to actually exchange ideas. Just be thankful that the cartoonish opinions expressed on VJ do not represent the U.S. as a whole (well for the most part).

  8. I love how the far right VJers are blindly supporting the right wing talking heads & bashing the "libs". What you knuckleheads will never understand is that extreme views (left or right, it doesn't matter) are almost always based on half-truths, prejudices & flat out falsehoods. Views based on rhetoric, stereotypes, half-truths & falsehoods equate to ignorance & you (the extremist) are just as bad as the other end of the spectrum (left or right) that you are preoccupied with bashing.

  9. How such an inherently non-political topic has become so politicized never ceases to amaze me. The environment is important to everyone & regardless of whether one believes global warming is real do we really want to continue polluting the earth until we find the point of no return?

Personally I think part of the plan of those that obstruct reasonable science is to do so to make people nauseous of having to repeat clear, rational lines of evidence over and over again to an audience that is hell-bent on 'not getting it.'

Well in society you have the far left 20% and the far right 20% that refuse to accept anything that doesn't fit perfectly with their beliefs. On VJ it's 40% and 40%, leaving a mere 20% that are actually capable of seeing both sides of a given issue. As you know the global warming topic has traditionally been one of the more controversial issues on VJ with even more rhetoric & pig headed comments than usual.

  11. For example if 10 black kids beat the bejesus out a white kid simply because he is white that is a hate crime (or vice versa).

The selective enforcement of hate crimes is certainly a topic of debate, but whether or not there should be a legal distinction between hate crimes & "normal" crimes is not the debate here (IMO).

you're the criminal justice expert, so:

please show me one example of an incident in which blacks have been prosecuted for hate crimes against whites.

please show me one example of an incident in which muslims have been prosecuted for hate crimes against non-muslims.

Your reading comprehension is sorely lacking, shooter. What part of "the selective enforcement of hate crimes is certainly a topic of debate" was unclear to you? I fully realize that the law isn't always applied fairly & equally, but that doesn't invalidate the law in question (in this case hate crimes). We are in agreement on this point, but where we part ways is that I try to judge situations individually, based on its merits (or lack thereof) while your clearly negative perception of the groups often targeted in hate crimes is your primary means of deciding what the "truth" is .

  12. It came from a buddy of mine that came home from Iraq a couple of months ago. I haven't searched this here on VJ and can't remember if anyone, particularly those most in favor of having this War on Terror (specially when it was THE patriotic thing to do while criticizing it meant you wanted to appease the terrorists), have suggested doing so...

But wow... soldiers are STILL coming home wounded. I am surprised none of these real American heroes have chimed in... but have plenty of time to drone on about Ft Hood and how low Obama bows to the Chinese.

    Great idea!

P.S. The people complaining the most about the handling of the Fort Hood tragedy and/or Obama's bows never wore a military uniform.

Great idea - but leave out the politics. The card is good no matter who it comes from. Some people just do it quietly and don't make a fuss.

Hal opened that can of worms & I guess I cut the lid off, but you are correct... sorry & :ot2:

  14. Mention the Gipper and how hypocritical the GOP has become as of late and you get all kinds of interesting, reactive analysis ey Reinhard?

I have said many times that Reagan was a great President, but the GOP is a shadow of its former self. Reagan was great because he made America a better country & had a lasting (positive) effect on the world (e.g. the fall of the Berlin wall & many communist nations). Modern Republicans seem more intent on bashing Democrats (and even moderate Republicans) & setting President Obama up for failure than actually doing anything to return our great nation to its former glory.

  15. She's more qualified than the community agitator. And he's proving it on a daily basis.

What do you have against intelligence and education?

I ask myself that each and every time I see a post from Joe. He exhibits neither an each of his posts. Joe's posts are like a form of Mad Libs. You've already got most of it right there, you just need to plug in a few adjectives, pronouns, proper names, and librul here and there.

Joe is simply playing the "insincere outrage" card, which is a very weak card. Most people disapprove of Palin for the reasons I just mentioned; very few dislike her because she is a woman or because they are intimidated by her intelligence & education.

  16. She's more qualified than the community agitator. And he's proving it on a daily basis.

Your partisan bias is showing. Like or dislike President Obama most observers felt he out debated John McCain, who is 100X more experienced than Palin & thus a much more worthy opponent. Granted Obama didn't have much experience either, but he appeared much more knowledgeable on the issues than Palin.

Palin is a novelty & a gimmick, with little substance. The GOP knows this & they will promote someone else for 2012. Look for Romney or Huckabee, with maybe Gingrich as the VP.

Once again though you prove my point. That "experience" doesn't necessarily make one qualified as one can be experienced at being wrong 90% of the time. McCain was a populist through most of his career and only tried to be something he was not during the campaign. He had plenty of experience at being a populist, but that does not qualify someone to be president. Just as experience at agitating does not make Obama qualified for president either. But since people want to say that he has more experience than Palin, they are full of BS. She held elected office longer than he did, and had more executive experience than Obama and Biden combined.

Now you can disagree with the issues, but that never works for the left. All they do is portray the republican as "stupid" "uneducated" and it doesn't win people over to their side. If it were a republican ONLY reading from a teleprompter wherever he went, they'd have something to say about it. But since its Obama, they have no problem with it.

I actually agree with you about experience not necessarily equating success (or lack thereof not neccessarily equating failure). Beyond that you resorted to your usual partisan rhetoric. My dislike of Palin is not based on her gender or even political affliation, but rather she just doesn't come across as being knowledgeable or articulate about the issues. I also can't stand her constant attempts to portray herself as a victim of media bias (saying or doing something stupid & then blaming the media isn't bias, it's whining).

I have praised Newt Gingrich many times on VJ because he is what Palin isn't... articulate, knowledgeable & intelligent. He is a true conservative (one of the few, as most today are pretenders or blowhards) so you can't play the "lib" card here.
