  1. Did everyone get EAD and AP already? It seems that more and more July filers are approved.

    I never got mine :(

You are outside stauts. I suggest you make an info pass appointment, because you are supposed to have your EAD within 90 days of filing! The people at the call center do not know what they are doing half the time!!! Best of luck to you!

We are planning on doing so, but as our local office is a 5 hours drive back and forth, we need to plan it ahead coz hubby will have to miss work, so it's gonna take a while til he is able to get a personal day off...

  2. He being an US citizen, your daughter is automatically a citizen, at least I think so, as long as she is registered in his name, you only need to take it to the consulate or embassy ( I'm not sure which ) and have them register it.I'm pretty sure that's how it works, might be different since when she was born he wasn't a citizen yet, I don't know, contact your consulate/embassy and get informed about it.

    =)

  3. I did the same, sent a new one corrected, past 90 days, no updates, I called USCIS, they made a request for service and today I got a letter saying they are working on it and all I can do is wait more, it can take up to 6 months according to them.I would just keep it the way it is, since some ppl said it's alright and let it go with the flow, obviously following their advice to fix it didn't take me anywhere.

  4. Hey guys, got a letter from USCIS today and got all excited, no good news, though.

The letter was about my call to the USCIS phone line, coz my EAD never got here after 90 days, saying they were actively working on my case and there was nothing them or I could do but wait, also said that I can call back after 6 months, are they kidding me?9 months to get the EAD, that can't be serious, is it an EAD or a baby?I thought they were committed to approve those in 90 days, any ideas of what I can do?Seriously I just wanna kill everyone there, this is getting more ridiculous every time.

  5. One of the reasons why I've decided to take my future husband's name is to avoid spelling my surname, which is not complicated per se (and can even be translated into English!), rather a bit on the long side. The real problem is my first name, Raffaella, which is very hard for speakers of English to pronounce AND to spell correctly... and that, I'm afraid, I won't be able to change :D

We have the same name, just different spelling, be prepared to be called the most weird bizarre names you can imagine hehehe

  6. hehehe that's funny, thanks for the input, guys.

My name in Raphaela and the 2 names they confuse the most with it is Raphael(that would be a guy's name lol) or Rachela ( #######?!?!I guess they see the H in the middle and just figure it's CH), for non formal purposes I just tell everyone to call me Rapha but from where I came from the pronounce of the R is like an H, so, it'd be something like "Hoffa" like the gangster hahaha sux!!!

  7. That's what I thought, but I asked her, is this my local office? And she said no...Whatever!

BTW, I saw today how misinformed they all are and just gave up on getting any excited about those informations, I talked to 3 different people and each of them gave me a different answer, this is so ridiculous! They didn't even have a record that I called or requested service on my EAD, the first lady said I could do that but the computer wouldn't let her, she transferred me to a guy that was rude and said I had to wait 45 more days and I wasn't outside the timelines and said the other lady didn't know what she was doing and was gonna report her. Then I called again, talked to a southern lady that put on a request for them to work on my file, I'm beginning to wonder if they just say that to "make you happy" coz I find it hard to believe that if it was serious they wouldn't have that on their records.Oh, well, good work USCIS, just keep letting me down, I'm gonna sit back and relax(a little more, since I've been sitting at home for 7 months) and wait for someone to do the job we paid them to do.GRRRRRR

  8. Don't get your hopes up! 1-800 is known as the misinformation line!

Oh and an infopass is useful, they can give you more information than a CS rep can.

I wish you good luck but don't hold your breath. I have never heard of it happening.

That's what I thought, it really sux!

My local office is 2 1/2 hours away from here, that's 5 hours back and forth plus whatever time it'd take there, do you think it's worth it?I don't wanna travel for 5 hours to hear that they can't help me or something like that, I'd probably shoot someone in the face LOL

  9. Hey guys, do you get tired of spelling your names all the time?hahaha

There's no soul in this country able to spell my name right before the second try! When they ask for my name, I already start spelling it, don't even try saying it anymore, plus I usually ask if my last name is OK just to make it easier, coz it usually takes time hehehe

I had already shortened my name to make it easier, but my mother and grandmother-in-law still have troubles with it, I always wonder about Asian, Russian and other kinds of names that by far sound much harder than mine, just a silly thread to see if anyone else goes through funny situations, the funniest thing is going to some place that my name is called, I have to hold my laugh coz it's always something even funnier than before.

Share your stories if you have a "not very American name" :star:

  10. It's good that you opened this thread to warn everyone, I had completely forgotten about it til you brought it up...Because of all this TB , sending my papers got delayed for over a month. But there is a plus, my first x-ray had some kind of problem with it, the person did it wrong, so I needed 2 more X-rays and a blood test, it was loads of money! Then the doctor told me that I didn't have anything but still needed the antibiotics, WTH?!?!?!

She asked for a blood exam(another one) before I started and I would need to draw my blood every 2 months to make sure my liver was handling it alright, plus she prescribed me all kinds of vitamins and supplements, I guess they only do that for the money they get from the pharmaceutical businesses, just a guess...I never bought the medicines or went back for the exams, she can take the antibiotics herself if she wants, I'm out lol

Glad to hear I wasn't the only "rebel" that ignored medical instructions hahaha

    Good luck with your process!

    Rapha

  11. same happened to me, I caught myself about to kill the doctor!LOL She just wouldn't put on her mind that with the BCG I would always test positive, no matter what, then she asks me what medical qualification I have to say that, BUMMER, no qualification but obviously know a bit more about tuberculosis than her, then she prescribed me the antibiotics and I said whatever, crazy lady LOL came home, sent my I-693 and it's so far so good, no RFEs or anything, she even said that they have no records of how bad the TB antibiotics can be for a future baby!!!!Whaaaat? No way I would take a medicine that could harm my baby(even though I'm not pregnant or planning too right now, it stays in your system for a long time and can possibly harm babies you have in the future), how can they prescribe a really strong medicine like that just for the sake of...Sake of nothing, I think those doctors lost some of their head screws from dealing with sick people all the time :jest:

  12. Hi guys,

I received some information today that was quite exciting but I don't want to be excited because someone on the USCIS line were just misinformed.

Today I called them after waiting 90 days and no word on my EAD and what I've been told is that there are actually no holds in my files and not receiving the EAD card might be because my files are in a juris...(that's all I could understand about the name) office, meaning that they might be ready to make a decision, based on what I sent in and no red flags at all, well, that would be awesome if that happened, but I never heard of such thing before so I'm wondering if I should actually be excited or it was just some delirium by the lady I talked to LOL

She did put in a request for service on the EAD and said I should hear from them in 30 days and if not to call again, also said infopass wouldn't help me any and they would do the same thing they did over the phone.

Has everyone heard of something like that? Please share your opinions, thank you.

  13. Today I called USCIS about my EAD, the lady was really helpful and put in an inquiry for me, she said she sees nothing wrong.Although, she said my files are in some juris...something office, I'm sorry, I didn't get the name quite right and she said my files being there, they COULD be ready to make a decision on my AOS, since my case didn't have any red flags and I sent evidence that are probably enough for them to decide on my case, I never heard of that before, have you?Well, she got my hopes up but not much, since I'm not K1/K3 and never heard of such thins, guess I'll have to wait and see, please keep me in your good thoughts, I've been sitting at home for over 7 months nnow, no DL, no SSN, no nothing.
