  1. I haven't been around lately ... Never the less I've been thinking about all of you guys!! Congratulations to our Canadians, to Nat and all other approvals .... I'm really happy for you guys!! Good luck on the nexts ... but first enjoy the firsts!

    Hello there stranger :D

I'm glad to see on your timeline you've been moving right along with your AOS - how are you liking home so far? :) We are moving into our new apartment tomorrow...andI still have lots to pack. I hate packing! lol it;ll be worth it though.

I'm glad that everything went well at my interview and although I'm missing some things about Canada, I am really starting to feel comfortable here :) Hopefully we all will keep in touch after we all have arrived and settled in! I miss talking with everyone :)

    Take care,

    Jen

Hi Jen, how's the moving going? Everything is great here, though just like you I miss a couple of small things that I have been used to in Belgium. But I'm not complaining lol. I did my written driverstest, so I have my juniors permit now. Never thought I ever had to go through this again but in NY state they don't just exchange a foreign driverslicense for a NY one.

My AOS is still in progress yes ... so all I can do is patiently wait, but the waiting is less hard when you're together with the one you love ...

You take care too!!! Hopefully some of the other Mayfilers will find their way back here soon! :star:

  2. Sorry if someone has asked this before but I don't seem to find a thread with an answer to my question.

I entered the US at JFK and got an EAD stamp. Question 3 on the SSN application has checkboxes about citizenship. Should I check 'legal alien allowed to work' or 'legal alien NOT allowed to work'? From what I read here on the forums the EAD stamp on the visa is only valid for 3 months (though the expiry date on the stamp says 11-3-2009?), and since this is a temporary EAD I wondered what box to check.

  3. How's everyone doing? :star:Ana, I'm so happy for you!!! Today is the day!!!!!!!!!! Weeeeeeeehhhhh!

We got married last Thursday. A short ceremony, but nicely put together by the judge. Everything here is going pretty well. After 2 weeks here we're going to the local office here for a SSN, and then we're going to bow ourselves over the AOS.

I got an EAD stamp at JFK, and the expiry date is 11-03-2009 ... hmmm what does that mean? For what I read here I still have to apply for EAD along with the AOS. We're also going to the DMV when I have the SSN. Pfft, paperwork paperwork ... it never really stops eh? :D

Have a great day all!!! (F)

  4. My dear May folks,

Sorry for keeping you in the dark for so long - was having PC troubles :). 6. Just got back from Brussels ... I have my VISA ... The people at the Embassy are really nice folks ... Just a few questions asked and I didn't even have to show any proof. I was lucky to have my visa printed the same day, so I'm all set!!

Thank you guys for all the support! It looks like my wish is going to come true ... get back to Greg before my birthday! If I get a flight sceduled, I'll be flying to the US on Monday!

Rocks ... do those letters state your files are going to be sent to the Embassy within the week? If so, call NVC again ... We had the same thing, and our file didn't leave for another 2 weeks ... the final letter that it has left NVC we never received ...

Have a nice day VJ-ers and good luck to all of you still waiting and you who have your interviews the next days! :star:

  7. Hi Alex good to see you!! You're flying home on Halloween!! Nice!

If all goes well next week, it wont be too long before I'm on a plane to Greg! :star:

Ryan, I know what you're talking about ... at one point I was getting pissed off when people were talking about 'soon' ... How 'soon' is 'soon' ... I'm sorry you guys have to go through this, hope it wont be too long anymore! Just try to hang in there for a while longer, you too Jen, even though I know it's hard and frustrating when you see the rest move on! (F)

    Have a great weekend all!

  8. Hi Ana! I'm pretty much set. The lady at the Embassy said she sent out the 'official invitation' by regular mail. So I'll be having it right on time, Monday. If not I might have to call again. lol

All I need to do is print out some excerpts of the mail (not planning on printing it all, I'm thinking about those poor trees ... lol) and our skype log and all is set.

How are you doing with all the stuff?

    :star:

  9. Ana and Yevgeniy ... congrats on the interview dates, that's wonderful news!!! :)

For all those with a date the next weeks! Good luck!

Ryan and Jen I really hope you get your dates too ... I think we all know how nervewrecking this waiting is, and how longer the uncertainty takes the heavier it weighs ... Just hang in there guys! (L)

    Have a wonderful weekend all!

  10. Nat, congratulations on the approval!! That's so good to hear ^_^

Alex, sorry to hear about the little one *sends tons of good vibes* ... But good to hear the medical went just fine!

Jen, wow it's like they've been inspecting you in and out to get certified ... :P glad it all went good, and also glad to hear about the 156K :)

Ana and Yevgeniy, I really hope you guys get a positive answer from the embassy this week!! :star:

Welcome to all new May peeps!! Good luck on your journeys!!

I'm pretty content now ... finally everything is back on track! I got my packet 3, though I thought I was going to die when I opened it ... There was a wrong affidavit form included, thank goodness the instruction letter said I needed the I134 ... and there was no DS156K ... Called the Embassy again this morning, telling them these issues. The Affidavit they sent was the wrong one the lady confirmed, and she was going to mail out the DS156K today! I asked her about an interview date, I had to be a little persistant, but the lady was great, and willing to help (thank you Mrs of the Embassy!) ... So I got my date, October 28! I couldn't be more happy. My packet 3 went in the mail today back to Brussels.

So I feeeeeeeel gooooood! And finally we have something to look forward to. Greg is so psyched too, soon I'll be back my love, very soon!!!! (L)

    Have a wonderful day y'all!! :)

  11. Yevgeniy ... Our file got stuck at NVC for a couple of weeks. We had our approval the 10th of September, NVC received our case the 12th. Greg received 2 letters in the mail (post) dated the 17th that our case would be transferred to the Embassy within the week. That didn't happen! Last week I called the Embassy to ask what was up and they didn't receive anything, nothing electronic, no hardcopy ... Greg called the NVC, the file was still being processed there. I called back on Friday, still the same. Monday (Oct 6th) Greg called again and they said it was sent out that day. I tracked DHL if something was on it's way to the Embassy ... and yes a package was delivered yesterday. I called the Embassy again today, and there was still nothing in their electronic filing system, and she didn't have the hardcopy on the Consular Section yet. So we're experiencing kind of the same thing here. Everything in this process takes time, some people are lucky to have their case being processed fast and smooth through all the different stages, including a fastworking Embassy ... some of us need to be more patient. I'm still waiting for the P3, a month after our approval ... and all I can do is hope it'll be mailed out to me soon.

Anyway good luck and I hope you receive some good news soon

  12. Good morning ... well actually it's noon already ...

Just called the Embassy, spoke to a very nice lady ... nothing in their electronic filingsystem yet and she didn't find our hardcopy. I know by tracking DHL there was a delivery from NVC yesterday. Told her we called NVC monday and they said it left that very same day. She told me it might take a couple of days before it reaches the Consular Section when it's being delivered. So back to being patient, seeing the end of this journey nearing but having no clue how much longer it will take.

Have a wonderful day and weekend all ... hope the Sun is shining for all of you, because here it's lovely outside right now ... (F)

  13. Nat ... hope you receive some good news this week.

Thanks Alex ... I've picked up some Swedish from the Ikea store ... lolol. I used to know a Norwegian girl on a forum a long time ago, and I must say that that language I could understand a little bit, but Swedish ... it's a total different Skandinavian language.

Ana ... maybe a little jumping is allowed now ... I checked DHL and there's def something there for Brussels.

    Thanks Jen!!

    Sweet dreams all! :star:
