  1. lol Now, I wonder how this works out because I live directly in the middle of the continent. For real, I have a sign :). On average tickets to Maine for me cost 1200-2300. And to fly to Boston and bus is about 900-1200. And that's for just 2000 miles of traveling. They get ya no matter where you live. But I am super excited to do my first American Thanksgiving. Even though our petition hasn't been put into the system or anything, I am bringing all my proof of ties to Canada just in case. And, I've decided I will continue to post in the October thread, because well I made it and anything past October is just depressing lol.

  2. Well, I'm Janka, my fiance is Jeremy. I work in guest services for a hotel, I don't like my job too much but you know it pays. lol Our petition is currently lost, but we're not going to refile until I go down there for Thanksgiving later on in the month. We don't plan on doing a big wedding just our families with a little party. Even as a girl I never envisioned a wedding so this is in my comfort level. lol Jeremy works as web developer for himself and was formally in the US Military. We met online on blogtv.com, he was ranting about how he just wants to talk to a girl who doesn't take off her top and has some degree of intelligence. This intrigued me, so I added him and the rest goes from there. We are exactly the same yet different, we love the fact that we have found our equals in one another. Our 1 year is on Veteran's/Remembrance Day, I think it makes it special and well easy to remember. I'm not sure what else to tell ya.

  3. Looking over other's timelines, there have been many people who waited over 2 weeks for their checks to be cashed/issued NOA1 (they seem to occur concurrently). I like what you originally stated about not panicing until a month has passed. I say give it this week, if still nothing, then you can take aditional steps. During that wait, you can contact UPS and double check that it had indeed been received at VSC.

Oh, a thought just popped in my mind. Did you happen to note on the outside of the package "I-129f Original Submission" or something like that?

lol No...damn was I supposed to?

  4. beans,

Are you able to use USP tracking to find the package? Was it sent from within US or from Canada?

Although occasional losses may occur, this seems uncanny that more than 3 people have had their petitions lost in the past month; especially since all three were headed for VCS.

Looking at your signature, it says that it was received. Have you contacted USCIS yet?

It was sent by UPS in the US, the package was confirmed as received by VSC. We called they said they couldn't tell us anything over the phone and even if they could they couldn't help without a case number. They told us to be patient :) So Jeremy has sent in a request for information. lol I mean all we want to know is that our file is sitting in a box somewhere not in some sort of lost petition hell.

  5. To those who had their petition lost...how did you find out?

How did you send it? If you sent it with a delivery confirmation with USPS or have a tracking number with FedEx, UPS or other. you should start there and have them open an investigation (that's what I had to do with UPS). It will take a few days to complete but you'll know either way.

UPS with confirmation. Thanks for the next step. In the interim I've redone all I'm paperwork that requires original signatures and sending it to Jeremy today probably after work...lol well this just sucks. Guess it's safe to say I'm no longer an October filer!

  6. :ranting: my umbrella broke on the way to work today, the storm drains are all clogged on the way to work so I was in water up past my shoes, cars splashed me on my walk, and I ended up at work a drowned rat.. THEN.. our emails dont work today bahhhhhhh

    NOT a good morning

Well that is damn unfortunate. lol Take a personal day, well that is what I'd try to do.

  7. today is officially three weeks with vsc not cashing my cheque. the man wife wrote it for the $455 the packet was received oct 14th. and i'm watching others who mailed off their package on the 16th have it received on the 17th and have their cash chequed on the 20th. lol to top it all off a friend of mine is filing for his fiancee in the uk and so help me if all his stuff gets put into the system before me i'm going to be upset. and really what can you do about it? nothing. if i were to jeremy to call what would happen. they'd say we're not in the system and nothing they can do to help us. its some bs. *sigh* on top of it all work won't give me time off, my parents are getting divorced and i think my mom is going crazy.

  8. First off, how they will find your email address?? At least while filling IR-1 visa, I haven't put mine or my husband's email address anywhere in the forms.

Now with Name search on my space or face book, my husband's name is Joe, and I do think there will be thousand other Joe's out there??

May be they do read these family immigration boards, can find a lot from here.

lol They are the government, they can find anything. While pretending to work at work, I read through the terms and conditions of facebook. It's in there. They can view your stuff.

  9. the party is just somehow important coz its like a sweet 16th bday party but she is actually turning 18 but we filipinos celebrate 18th birthday differently thats why i need to be there coz i'll be the chef and i'm supposed to cook all the food for the party. for my civil wedding i wanted it on the 16th of april coz it would be our 2nd year anniversary together. change of plans i guess huhuhuhu

Best to not set dates until you at least have an interview date and even that isn't an idea I would advocate

  10. Or you could just say visiting. I mean this is just my opinion but why add the word fiance? lol The last thing you would want is to not be let in to Canada like how some aren't allowed into the US. I'm biased though, I'm the Canadian citizen I've never had to worry getting back into the country.

  11. thanks again! hehehe sorry for getting everyone confused....i dont know also when the cheque was cashed for my case. my fiance just sent me an email copy of the stamped part of the cheque. i also want to see our hardcopy of noa1 i just hope it would arrive by monday already. did everyone sent a letter of intent to marry from the beneficiary also? coz i did not make one ...only my fiance (petitioner) made his coz we followed the procedure from the instructions on the I-129F and later on i found this VJ and just read what you guys have been doing. if i dont have that letter do you think i would get an RFE?

does anyone here know if i still need to get a police clearance from state of maryland coz i lived there for 19 months. coz i just think the us embassy as their own system on checking police stuff for their own country? any help pls?

thanks for the help guys :star:

but on your signature timeline it says they cashed cheque oct 14? that got me confused again hahaha lol

just checked the stamp by vsc at the back of the cheque above the case number it says 100308 which is oct 3 2008 and as i said earlier the online thing said that they received the petition oct 3 also. i guess i wanna stick with the oct 3rd coz i know i will just feel bad if i put sept 22 and then count days behind and would count longer coz vsc actually counted me in their system oct 3 plus it makes me one of the 1st filers for oct and not the last of sept and it would be easier for me to check with you guys coz the oct file group is not that big yet.

how about you guys?what date was stamped by vsc behind your cheque? and what date does your online petition say that uscis recieved their docs? i was just wondering where we all stand hehehe thanks for the info and good luck to all october filers! B)

I said to Tom they must not want his money!

What confused you? Because I said they didnt want our money in my post from the 17th? We found out a couple hours later it had been cashed on the 14th but didn't show up on Tom's bank statement until the 17th.

The date on my cheque was the 14th. The date on my NOA1 was also the 14th. I wouldn't let it worry you too much. Whatever date ypu put on your timeline, your projected date for approval gives a window of about a month anyway.

I know both my fiance and myself sent the letter of intent. However, no point in worrying about it now until you get an RFE. It really varies from person to person to see who will get an RFE and for what. If they ask just provide it in a timely manner, that's all you can do. Good luck!

  12. so when you guys say that vsc received your docs is it actually the time the courier hands it over to vsc or is it when the documents are inputed in their computer system?...im just confused.

i know my fiance sent I-129F thru dhl sept 19 and since it was an over night shipping and i counted that vsc got it sept 22 which was the next business day after the 19th. When we checked the bank, they cashed the cheque and got the case number wherein i checked uscis online. It said there that they received the petition oct 3 and sent out instructions and just wait for the letter thru mail (which i'm sure is the NOA1). and til now no NOA1 hardcopy.....again my question should i write oct 3 as the date wherein vermont got my I-129F? or sept 22 the day the courier handed it over to vsc?

would NOA1 hardcopy say the date oct 3 just like is says on the online thing of uscis?

i was just curious and wanted to update my timeline so that it can be somehow accurate...thanks

I know when I say VSC recieved it means the courier has physically delivered the package to them. In terms of anything else, I don't know. lol I'm behind you in the food chain.
