  1. lol.. I'm thinking the landscape tonite might not change a whole lot - but hopefully it will start a rebuild.. i dunno.. feel outta touch since leaving Canada almost 2 years ago.. but I still care :)

At the end of the day they can't take away your homeland. So it's good to keep yourself attached to things back in your home country. For me, it will be politics, and Coffee Crisp

:wow: I think we could be twins :)

    Perhaps maybe, lol

tee hee.. now if you love a good mince meat pie & plum pudding we were separated at birth

Can't say I've tried it. I like chicken more so than meat lol. But it's too bad you're in CT. I need to find some Mainers so I can practice the accent so when I get there I fit in like a champ. Bumpaaaa stickaa in the caaaa ehehe. Thats what Jeremy always says, and everytime it's hilarious lol.

  2. hi guys!

we received another RFE again! I'm so sick and tired of this! first they asked my fiance to send a passport photos and now i don't know what else they need, because we haven't receive the letter from immigration yet, guys do you think this can be be the reason I'm so worried coz my fiance told me that maybe it's because of our age gap, that's why it's so hard for them to make a decision about this petition.....

this is what they say in there e-mail.

Current Status: Request for Additional Evidence Sent

On October 14, 2008, we mailed a notice requesting additional evidence or information in this case I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow the instructions on the notice to submit the requested information. This case will be in suspense until we receive the evidence or the opportunity to submit it expires. Once we receive the requested evidence or information and make a decision on the case, you will be notified by mail. If you move while this case is pending, call 1-800-375-5283 to update your address.

what shall i do? i really wannna to give up now... i feel like I'm wasting my whole lifetime with this fuckin, bullshit, immigration thing!!!!!!!! sometimes i asked my self if the lord is really there to listen to all my prayers?

They may ask for more evidence for proof of meeting in the last two years or ongoing relationship. But do bear in mind, age can be a factor but very rarely is if you look at other VJ'ers age difference. It's essentially discrimination. Just do what they ask and deal. I mean hey it sucks. But what is an extra two-three weeks if you're going to get a lifetime together right?

  5. What's your ID#? The first 3 letters should indicate which Consulate you've been referred to.

Ah #######, don't get me wrong nothing against BC but I would have much rathered to go to Montreal.

We need to frame this!

lol What? I've never been to Montreal and BC is just so...BC

  6. Sent in the paperwork on September 30 and got the NOA1 on October 03 (hard-copy on October 09). I was a bit surprised at the quick response  . I hope this is a trend. Well, it's a waiting game now. Good luck to all!!

    --------------------

10/13/07: Spoke for the very first time (our "anniversary" today, )

12/30/07: Our first meeting (in Trinidad)

03/21/08: Her first trip to Boston

07/02/08: Her second trip to Boston

    08/09/08: Got engaged

    09/30/08: Mailed I-129F

    10/03/08: NOA1

    10/09/08: NOA1 hard-copy

It's not the NOA1 that's important lol it will be the wait for the NOA2 that kills you.

  7. Hi all, glad to see the October thread!

I've sent our package on Oct 7, USPS certified with e-delivery confirmation; it got there on Oct 9, signed by V. Semegi. Still waiting for the NOA1, and since it's Columbus Day I know it won't come today - USPS is closed.

I'm looking forward to a really short timeline for all of us!

We're slowly but surely coming out lol. Just wish there were more VSC filers around. I mean at the end of the day we're all the same but comparisons within the same service centre are always nice.

  8. Wanted to remind everyone tomorrow is election day! It's going to be a tough call because I'm having problems supporting any of the candidates platforms, but I'm sure after much deliberating tonight I will come to a decision :)

  9. Thanks! That is reassuring that I am not the only over thinker! I think we have a good balance now, with six photos, various passport stamps/visas, and a set of boarding passes...

My poor fiance is like running around Paris freaking out trying to redo the 325A and retake his photo - it seems something always goes wrong at the last minute...well it adds a little spice at least  The problem was we found a gap in his employment history when he was a student, so had to change it and wrote in:

none- student, science and technology at X University, Paris France occupation: none (and the dates)

I know that is not an employment per se but it explains the gap in his jobs - is that ok?

    Beans -

That is so F#$% up! What a country we live in...they ask someone to sacrifice for your country and then don't provide adequate support for them afterwards, and to add insult to injury, they could count that against you for marrying the person you love!?! What BS. I hope that won't be a problem for you two. If it ends up being an issue you might consider contacting some of the veterans support groups in the US (VFW or Iraq Veterans Against the War... there are lots of groups) to see if other folks have faced this challenge? Just an idea...But I'd say for now don't stress about it, as long as you have the co-sponsor support with sufficient income etc.

That's a really good idea if push comes to shove I will have to remember that, thank you!

  10. my mother is a LPR and has partitoned for my USA Green Card sometime in 2001.

I am currently researching on other ways where I can get a USA Green Card and I wish to ask a question.

For example, if after knowing an American girl for some time, and she decides to marry me, I understand I can apply for a 2 year conditional green card via a K1 visa.

in this situation, what will happen to my mother's application for me?

Can I apply for my conditional Green Card first via K1 visa and after my piority date becomes current, I do an AOS via my mother's application?

    how does it work?

OR, why don't you go to school, get a degree, apply to be a worker in the US and do it that way. I mean that way you're bettering your life without committing visa fraud and perhaps you could be adding to the country instead of burdening it. Women have intuition and aren't going to marry you just for your own selfish reasons.

  11. I didn't send it certified mail - Instead, I sent it Express Mail and signed up with USPS later to have a copy of the delivery receipt e-mailed to me. I know everyone suggests to send it certified mail, but.. mine seemed to work out just as well, and my NOA was delivered to me quickly. :)

As for over-thinking it, believe me, I was going nuts with it, too. I went as far as to send along copies of baggage tags that he happened to leave here after his visits. :P Among other things, I also tried to include at least one picture from each time we met. We ended up traveling to different places, so I made sure to include a picture from those times to reflect all of that, and to match the information I sent. So.. no worries, if you're overdoing it, I totally overdid it. :P

Regarding what the adjudicator might think, though.. it really depends. VJ has an interview posted with a member who was once an adjudicator who was asked a similar question, and this was his response:

So, as I would heft this door stop of a packet onto my desk I would first think to myself that while it may be a tad much, this person has their stuff in one sock so to speak (translated – you have your act together, maybe a bit over the top- but together none-the-less). I would always have too much information to look through than not enough and have to send out an
    RFE
. It just may happen that a piece of supplemental information is found on those extra documents. One never knows…

As an adjudicator, I know what exactly I’m looking for, what’s relevant and what’s not needed to be looked at right at the moment. I’d check the things I needed to check and basically ignore the rest, (unless I needed to find a specific piece of info that I thought might be included within your packet). Otherwise, it all stays in the file, but unless its something I’d deal with to make a determination on your case I wouldn’t bother (unless it was a real slow day and I wanted some entertainment or something to talk about at lunch with the co-workers. “Hey Mary, you should’ve seen the packet I got today…” Just kidding. We usually never talked shop and because we’re always busy, time to browse doesn’t usually happen.

So to answer your question more directly – I don’t think it’s gonna hurt your case any if that’s what you’re worried about.

So no worries - I'm sure you'll be okay. Best of luck to you with the start of your journey. :)

I know ours definitely has not made it to VSC yet, but we did register the package. It's not the petition that scares me, but the embassy interviews.

I'm sure you'll be fine when the time for your interview comes. :) One thing you can do to ease your mind is read the reviews for your embassy, located here: http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?letter=C

I hope your petition arrives soon.

Yeah, it's the support issue. Currently, his mom is our cosigner but he is on social security disability from the military. I just don't know how well that is received in the eyes of immigration services.

  12. Seeing as how I'm now living in Canada (and had been a native Texan my whole life before this move), I have to say that I haven't noticed very many -- if any -- differences in food. To me, it all tastes pretty much the same. Whatever variation there is can be attributed to different brands or restaurants. I haven't found one particular product to taste a "certain way" in the U.S. versus Canada. Then again, I could easily count on one hand the number of times I eat fast food per year. Perhaps I lack the credentials to tell the differences in flavor between the American and Canadian Wendy's franchises.

Whatever the case, menus are generally set up according to the taste preferences of the region. What might be preferred in Houston, TX may not go over well in Boston, MA and vice-versa. Understanding this, it's easy to see that some items Canadians have known their entire lives may not be readily available in some (or maybe even most) areas of the United States.

Interestingly enough, I did learn something new, although it has nothing to do with food. Canadian debit cards do not have a MasterCard or Visa logo on them. Every debit card I've ever seen (in the U.S.) has had either the Visa or MasterCard logo imprinted on it, whereas it seems Canadian debit cards have no need of them. Why this is, I couldn't say. Perhaps it has something to do with the Interac system, which doesn't exist in the United States or maybe because all Canadian debit cards are issued "online" (which means these cards require a PIN to function), in contrast to U.S. debit cards which are considered "offline" and therefore, can be swiped and signed like a credit card, without ever typing in a PIN.

Indeed, since your debit/credit cards are "offline" they need to be guaranteed by a major credit company. Canadian banks are looking to get into something like this for the future. And to be honest the only difference I've noticed between American and Canadian is the coffee, and since I can just make my own I'm sure I'll deal. Apparently Wendy's is major, however, I can't remember the last time I've had Wendy's. Well, and the spelling is a huge thing too.
