JFK isn't the only one that issues the stamp. There's a thread that discusses this here. Hopefully it will help you with your question.
-
You can choose - just book a flight through a different airport. IE, India -> JFK -> final US destination. You'll go through customs/border patrol where ever your first US stop is. It might cost a little more for the flight to choose it that way.

Thanks guys, i call every day, but it's the same story " no record yet " some of them are
, they want me to call back in about 1 to 2 weeks, and some of them are
they want me to call back after 90 days, i'm really faustrated right here guys.
Did you send your package with delivery confirmation or return receipt? If you're sure they have it and it's been 30 days, keep calling.
How is everyone holding up and is anyone else checking everyday? I know I am! ITS SO ADDICTING!!!!Yeah, I check every day, even though I realistically know I've got months to wait until anything happens. But I keep hoping to see some miracle despite this.
At least maybe we'll beat the VJ estimate, since Cali's center seems to have been picking up the pace a bit this last month. It's so sad Cali takes 4-6 weeks longer than Vermont!
Yes I check everyday & I got my first touch(whateva that means but hey atleast they are doing something with my package) today. kicking.gifGuys when can we expect our NOA2? I am thinking the last week of Oct.. And what do you do after you get NOA2?
VJ estimates your NOA2 date for you. Check out your own timeline.
After NOA2, they send stuff to the national visa center, then to your country's consulate. If you haven't already, check out the K1 guide and flowchart. It explains everything pretty well.
I hope everyone had a restful weekend, and keep your chins up!

My husband finally received our NOA1 last July 31.... I'm happy because it's not an RFE but I'm still feelin sad because it will be a long way to go before I can move with him
:crying:
just thinking about of 3 to 4 years of waiting... ohhh I can feel my heart is ripping apart.
:crying:
I just realized your signature says you filed I-130, so you're K3. The rest of us here filed K1, which is a little different. You might check out the K3 forum to find more K3 filers, as I'm guessing some significant differences come up along the way.
Good luck to everyone with their process. I found VJ just last month. My fiance and I had been dating across the NY/Canada border for the past two years (Oct 06), the border guards know us so well that some of them had been teasing us about getting married for awhile now. A couple of well meaning but misinformed US guards told us the fiance visa process should only take a month! Then I found this site and panicked. wink.gif We are underway now, I'm moving to CA for a job at the end of this month (which is why we started looking into paperwork, we thought he'd be able to come with me easily!), he's coming with me to visit for about a month, then coming back up here to defend his dissertation (he's a military historian) and take care of the NOU2 process which should hopefully pick up toward the end of October.Be glad that you've gotten to see your fiancé so frequently. Many here are separated from their SO for years before getting their visa. But I completely understand about getting a shock about how long the process will take. Originally my fiancé was trying to get a student visa here, but when it started looking like he couldn't obtain the funds needed for an I-20, we started checking out K1. I am still saddened that this process takes soooo long! I thought he'd be here permanently by now, but he's only visiting me now. I still am in tears whenever I think of the months we're going to be apart again after he has to leave in September.
This process is difficult on all of us. But that's one thing we have - each other! The support offered on this forum helps keep me sane through this process. Welcome to our July group!

Olivia: Nope, he doesn't like salads one bit. It was magic that I discovered he'll eat spinach on his sandwiches!
Steve Y Jessica: Ahead of you! I started him on a daily vitamin back in February! But he really wants to eat better and is very sweet about the whole thing. That's why I keep trying so hard to find things he likes!
Olivia & julianna: It's waaaaay too hot right now for soups (I have no A/C
), but I'll try some next month when it's cooler.
Nessa: When we eat a mixed dish together, he'll eat the meat replacement stuff with no problems. But he has his meat stuff for when it's separate. I have no issues with that.
julianna: Oh, I tried asparagus. He was like EWWWWWW.
It's expensive anyways, so that's not so terrible I guess. I have two vegetarian cookbooks - some recipe in there sounds similar. But I don't remember seeing leeks at any store around here. Otherwise that casserole thing sounds like it'd work. Is there a substitute I could use? Oh, and he hates mushrooms, too. Told you he's picky! And yeah, I'm lacto-ovo, so dairy/eggs is totally fine.
MissStacey: Are you saying he gets balanced nutritious meals at school? I wouldn't bet on that... the stuff in school cafeterias is pretty unhealthy overall. And most places they offer pizza and french fries everyday. My students (I used to teach) got that everyday until we stopped offering it. Fat and fat. Mmmm, healthy.

Hi everyone
My K1 petition is pending; we only received NOA1, and he is tired of waiting.
So I decided to have a vacation and bought flight tickets to visit US. However, my situation is a little different since I'm only 24 years old and I'm the mother of the house.
I came back to Japan last September after my OPT has expired and a week after that, my mother started her new job and needed to be really into it to have a good salary. I've been staying home, doing all the house chores, and also I grow rice and vegetables just enough for my family(I live in the countryside.)
I don't know what I should say if the officer at POE asks me what my job is.
I do belong to a temp agency and they given me lots of offers, but I couldn't take it because I was busy enough with chores and some labor.
I don't know if most officers take my "work" as "a job."
Would someone please advise me on this and if I'm missing something to be prepared as much as I could?
Have anyone had similar situation at SFO? (meaning visit fiance while the petition is pending.)
What did they ask you?
Left US~September 2007
Visited US~Jan.2008~Apr.2008(2.5months) Said "Sight seeing" to a grumpy offier at LAX. Had no problem.
Visiting US~Ang.2008~Nov.2008(2.5months) Going through SFO
Proof of ties~Return Ticket(E-ticket):Proof of residece w/ translation:Letter from Temp agancy that states I'm one of their temps(doesn't say I have a job.)in Japanese:Temp staff card: Letter from my fiancee saying he supports my visit financially:Some K1 Papers: Info of my attorney(I don't know if this helps...):Phone bill(I've been paying for 7 years)
Please help me
My SO came to visit me and had trouble at POE (thankfully made it through). They didn't care about the return ticket. They really didn't like that I was paying for his stay and that I paid for his plane ticket (it shows in their database). It didn't help us that he'd visited before, either. It took a lot of questioning and calling me to convince the officer that he was going home in the end.
Since your temp agency thing doesn't say you have a job, I'd bring with you a bank statement showing funds, assuming you have them, and a lease in your name for housing. Anything showing you've got obligations to your home country. I'm not convinced that what you listed will be adequate proof.
Best of luck!

hi there, my fiance still hasnt gotten the noa1 since filing on the 8th of july, sholud we start getting worried?
there was some people on Vj who also filed around this time, have any of you guys recieved the noa1? we are worried
they might have lost our petition.
thanks in advance :
Don't worry, both centers seemed to have had a slowdown on processing checks and NOA1s this month, but people are starting to see progress. The only reason I'd be worried is if you don't have some sort of delivery or signature confirmation that the packet arrived.
Also, if you could add to your profile your service center (My Controls -> Edit Profile Information), it'd be a nice quick reference for everyone to see which center/visa you applied for!
Feel free to join us in the July '08 filers thread. We're a pretty friendly bunch.

So guess what my friends?
Got an email this morning, I was RFE'd.
Now to find out what the heck I did wrong, if I call will they tell me?
So sorry to hear that! I hope it's something minor that you can rectify quickly. My best wishes to you!
-
Yeah.. there are a lot of numbers on the back of the check. It was really hard for me to read them. So, I printed the check out with my printer and the number is clearly printed out.
Print out the check to read the number, if you can't see it clearly on the screen.
What do the numbers on the back of the check mean? Where do I register them and what does it tell me???
The numbers that start with WAC are your case number. You can use them to register your case online to check for updates on the USCIS website.
Good luck, and congrats to everyone on their NOA1s and check cashings!

There is only one solution in this matter- withhold booty until he starts eating the meals you make for him.
That penalizes me too, though!
-
Hi everyone!!! My husband mail our petition last July 15... Then his cheque was encashed on July 25,I was asking him about the receipt no, so I can register it online but he was saying it has too many numbers at the back of the cheque
Now even if want to to register it I can't.
He's waiting for NOA1 hard copy... he was waiting but I'm the one who's very very excited and I keep on asking him if he already received our NOA1..
ohhh my...
Tell him to look for the numbers that start with WAC. My check had a ton of numbers on the back, but it's easy to tell once you know to look for that... if it's readable.
Try again!

I have to agree, if you are going to eat meat, eat some of the tasty fatty kind, otherwise, what's the point?
And what is with vegetarians who need to pretend they're eating meat? Tofurkey, #######??
There is so much good vegetarian food out there. Jamaican rotis for example. Or Indian paneer. Or vegetable lasagna!
Not trying to pretend I eat meat. It just provides a few more options in the kitchen, especially when you're with a meat-eater. He has chicken parmesan, I have fake chicken parmesan. He has a hamburger, I have a veggie burger. Get it?
Need more veggies in my man, though! And ideas for dishes we can both eat are running short.
-
Vegie lasagne or spaghetti. You can shred a bunch of veggies into a lasagne or spaghetti sauce. Good protein in beans and cheese, both of which can be added to either dish.
Also, do you eat tuna? Pasta and tuna works well, again with cheese if you like.
Look into indian foods if you like spicy. Dhals are excellent as are most of the veggie curries, very easy and cheap to cook too. One of my favs is black eyed bean and mushrooms. The other easy veggie curry is one with potatoes, cauliflower and carrots.
There are really quite a lot of things you can cook, but like all cooking, it takes a bit of planning.
Oh, forgot to mention he hates fish (growing up on the coast, the smells got to him). Tried Indian food a couple times, but it was a no-go with him =/
Someone mentioned tofu -- he squirmed at the mention of it. I don't think it's worth spending the money on it with that reaction. Throwing food out is really tough on the pocketbook right now.
Veggie lasagne... have a good recipe? No more spaghetti - I joked with him already that he could easily turn into a flying spaghetti monster:
Tried a veggie chili, but he didn't much care for it... too many beans, he said. =/
Squash - he had spaghetti squash at my parents and didn't like it. Haven't tried others yet, but I suspect it'd have to mixed... The mixing seems to get him to eat stuff better.
-
Okay, here's the deal. My SO is trying to get over his bachelor diet of spaghetti, pizza, and frozen chicken/potatoes. He needs to eat more veggies, but he's soooooo picky. I'm on a tight budget, too. And I don't want to spend ages in the kitchen cooking. Oh, and I'm vegetarian, so anything with meat has to be substitutable with fake meat products (there's fake chicken, fake beef strips, and fake ground beef that come to mind). I'm not having much luck with him with beans unless they're mixed with something else.
HELP!!!!!!
I need some fresh ideas on what to cook. I know it's a tall order... some casseroles or something? I'm not much of a cook, so I really need ideas/help!!!!!!

Just recently had something very similar on my other computer here. What worked for us:
SuperAntiSpyware. Spybot and even Norton didn't catch it!
Good luck!

Our check was cashed!!!!!!!!!! I am registering right now with the number!!!!!!!!! It is coming for all of us Vermont!
Things never work out the way you want.. hahaha....
Today is the only day I was so busy at work I didn't have the chance to check VJ and my bank. I get home, checked my bank and boom.. Check Cashed!!!! I am sure NoA 1 is on its way to my mail box now...
I am never this happy to see someone take my money before....
Surprises like that feel great, don't they?! Congrats to you!
-
Congrats on the speedy (okay, well speeder than expected...) NOA2!!!! I hope the improved speed trend continues!
-
Im headed to England in a couple of weeks- then again in October for 6 weeks
Maybe even a visit at Christmas! (cross your fingers!!!)
I also hate the waiting...... I think the NOA1 wait is going to feel like a piece of cake compared to the NOA2 wait!!!!
That's awesome, I'm glad you get to have a visit! I've thought a couple times about Christmas, but not sure the budget will allow for it. If not, we're looking at 5 months or so apart (I'm estimating, anyway). That just sounds so horrible I don't even want to think of it!

Just curious.
How to proof that someone is a resident in his/her state for one year ? My name is on the title of the property for almost 2 yrs but I am still waiting for my green card.
There's often a form to fill out to prove residency. Contact the college/university to find out what their requirements are.

My SO has seen many English movies, but he was/is missing some important classics. The worst part of missing these is you miss some key punch lines and references in TV/movies/late night TV, etc. I've started, but have more work to do! A few that come to mind:
Monty Python
The Princess Bride
It's a Wonderful Life
The Wizard of Oz
The Lion King

From what I've read around VJ, you should have received a letter stating why she was denied at the consulate. Did they want more evidence of the overall relationship or of an ongoing one?
What I'd recommend is that you gather your evidence you submitted originally with the I-129F (what you listed), and go to the next interview WITH her while you are there. That should provide all the proof they need. Don't wait until you return to do it again.
-
Congrats! Now lets get some coffee and wait for our NOA2! This is the time we need the word PATIENCE! July filers lets keep in touch!
So true... I can be patient atm -- my fiancé is here. Expect my whining and complaining to start at September's end. I'm mostly calm and collected until we're apart... then I'm a basket case. I don't feel whole without him.
Is anyone else working on or planning visits to see their SO, or have their SO visiting now?
