  • Our Story
Gisell and I met on a dating app and early on she asked me to come see her for Christmas. I said of course I wanted to prove to her that I was interested and that I was very serious about a relationship with her. Our love for each other became deep very quickly. We talked for months on Whatsapp then video chat every evening falling asleep next to each other and on December 22nd, 2025 I finally got to have her in my arms. December 25th I proposed and she said yes. Now we are here and ready to make our dreams become a full reality. I found the love of my life and we want to be together in the United States as soon as possible.

  1. My degree is going to go a bit slower since I'll be working full time until Gisell is here, but it's for the better anyway because living on Social Security Survivors benefits is beating your head into a wall and expecting the concrete to break. Since I can start work at pretty much anywhere I can get a job I'll be making significantly more money thatn I ever did on Survivor's benefits. I think for the post they were referring to it was the tone. I didn't appreciate the tone either, but we live in a world where tone exists and some people use it more bluntly and I move on. I knew my financial situation was a longshot with the K-1 and the K-1 seems at this point like a very bad idea in this current climate with one mistake derailing the entirety of the process and with the CR-1 I don't need to worry about posting income until the filing for the NVC. I did look you up sir and I appreciate your time and energy. This is extremely important for us and it's one of those things you get one shot at if you're lucky and I got lucky with the love of my life.
  2. Likely in July. We have decided to get married in June to start the process. We are. At this point it seems faster than the k1 visa as well
  3. Our plan initially was to use my Survivor's income and my Mom's income and assets as collateral for the K1 and AoS then I lose my Survivors Benefits anyway. That way we could be together without the stress of being apart. That doesn't seem to be plausible except in a perfect fantasy world. So it seems better that I just drop my survivor's benefit's when we get married in June and start the process ASAP.
  4. I'll be losing my survivor's benefits shortly because I forfeit them when we get married. Therefore I will be working full time here shortly as well. The K1 Visa seems far less stable an option overall because of the paperwork but... But I would assume having a joint sponsor makes the case far more concrete? Our bonafides our quite strong in reference to how much time we've spent together.
  5. No I appreciate it wholeheartedly and I appreciate how you worded it. I think that is why we are going to go with the CR-1 because it sounds like the better option overall and that's why I came here was to ask questions and to learn from other people's experiences. We've already talked and decided that the CR-1 is the far more stable option.
  6. Hence my questions. You think I haven't thought of all that and that's why I'm here asking questions on the best avenues.
  7. It sounds like the CR1 is the better option overall as long as her and I can wait. Are there any other options to get her in the country while we wait for the CR1 to process or does she have to stay in the Dominican Republic while the process plays out?
  8. Yes, I am aware of that prospect and that is the plan. Social Security is a fickle beast.
  9. Yes and I'm already planning for that. I don't personally care if I lose my Survivor's benefits I'm already in the process of completing my degree. As long as my assets can cover getting Gisell here with me in the States any job I get is significantly more income than Social Security will ever pay me.
  10. There isn't much other option for me because of how the rules of social security work from what I understand. If I choose either of the other options as in CR1 we have to marry now and I lose my benefits immeadiately.
  11. Yes we both live in the house and rent isn't something that comes out of my income because we paid the house off. My only bills are my car payment and phone.
  12. Not without including her assets. I live with my Mom because she is disabled and retired so we would have the option to combine incomes. I am just shy of the limit that's why we discussed using our house as an asset. It's my Mother's and my house jointly. Paid for.
  13. My Mom or Gisell? My mother doesnt work, but she also collects Survivor's Benefits. Gisell works but income in the Dominican Republic is not excellent.
