Just gathering opinions, but do y'all think it's worth applying for AP, given our delay on the interview results and green card approval (hopefully)?

We originally didn't apply for AP because it's somewhat expensive and I read in most instances people were getting their green card before getting their AP. We also were a bit naive in thinking we wouldn't want to travel for at least a year, but as we started thinking about 2026, I can tell my wife underestimated how much she would miss her family and really wants to go visit them, since they most likely won't be able to come to the US.

I personally think your money is better spent on a WoM.

    So happy!!
Still no update on her work authorization (last update was ~28 days ago saying they transferred her case to another office), but so happy we got an update for the green card at least! For their cases, we can't check online, we have to wait until the notice arrives in the mail to see when the interview is scheduled for (please don't be December 4th or 5th).

Congrats and good luck. Hopefully next day approval. :)

I mean, when it comes to immigration, unless going through surgery for life threatening condition or attending mother's funeral, it is almost always cheaper to skip day of work or call in sick VS miss appointment. People lose status and get placed in removal when missing appointments

Absolutely agree. I would have called in sick if it came down to such. It sucks, but that is just the system.

  4. I have heard of some people getting their interview notice after the date of the interview. Unfortunately, these things happen. I recommend everyone check the portal if they are able, and do not rely on mail delivery of notices. When we got her notice for biometrics, it was about 3-4 weeks before in the portal. Perfect, I took the day off work so I could take her down there. However, the snail mail notice came the week before. I may not have been able to take off work on such short notice. A little to close for comfort.

We just got a notice for an interview today and it has today's date on it? Sunday, November 9th @ 1030am

What does this mean? I thought they were closed on weekends and that's such a short notice for us especially when they are over 2 hours away

Just go if you are able.  Yes, USCIS is closed on weekends, however, officers are allowed to work over-time to clear up back log.  I checked the subreddit, there have been plenty of cases of weekend interviews.

Edit: My bad, I just realized that was yesterday. Were you able to go?

For citizenship interview. I don't think there is a clearly defined timeline for AOS, but others can correct me.

That is correct. With that said, It does require that you present "unreasonable delay". I would imagine that 90+ days after an interview with no decision or movement is considered unreasonable.

The bigger concern here is cost. Most lawyers will charge $3000 to $10,000 to file a WoM. It is possible, but not recommended, to file without a lawyer.

Yeah fingers crossed.... I think our friends here just got a negligent officer that did their interview. She started by saying she didn't have time to really review their case before the interview and their appointment was at 11:05am and they said she spent a good amount of time during the interview commenting on how hungry she was and how she needed to get lunch 😐

Oh that sucks. :(  Our interviewing officer was extremely nice. Maybe a negligent supervisor is holding us back. Who knows.

Just keep in mind for WoM, make sure you are making inquiries via Ask Emma, Service Requests, and Congressional Inquiries and keeping evidence of them to add as "Exhibits" in your WoM filing with the court to show that you have been trying every method available to you to get action taken on your case

Good advice, let's hope no one has to file one here.

We finally got an update to the work authorization, but, uhhh

What does that mean? Why would it be transferred?

As others said, there could be any number of reasons for this transfer. Hopefully they sent it to a less busy FO. Did it tell you which FO your case is at? If not, you can find this through Emma.

At least you know they haven't forgotten about the case. Maybe. Best of luck though.

71 days since the interview and no update... 😭

We have to keep waiting. This sucks. :( However, with that said, I see very few cases on the subreddit that took longer than 100 days after interview. Hopefully this means less than a month for you. If not, might want to look into the Writ of Mandamus.

Best of luck to everyone waiting for updates.
