  1. chintan for my 864 the AVR never said they received it, only time AVR said they received something was for the DS-3032 m ds-230

I think it depends what they received first in the mail. as this is my second time around and doing this for my cousin, it was much easier to do then mine as her case has some bumps in the road like I-864 did not get registered in the AVR until yesterday and giving trouble in getting the police certificate

    best of luck to you

  2. Hi

My cousin had mailed I-864 on 9-8-08 Mon by overnight mail to NVC and received by NVC on Tuesday 9-9-08, and today is Thursday and still the AVR is not saying the I-864 has been received by NVC.

When I mailed my I-864 back in June, the AVR was updated the next day it was received.

Should my cousin be worried or give it a day or two to show up in AVR.

I have told my cousin to call NVC tomorrow and talk to them about it.

FYI : First interview was not in English it was in Gujurati and second interview they provided the Translator. Over all they asked a lot of question..

And accoring to VFS on this day there was only approval of visa( which was my wife ) from 30 interviews.. ( Amazing)

    CONGRTULATIONS on getting the visa.....

    Couple of questions

    1. How far is the VFS office from Mumbai consulate?

    2. When your wife picked up her passport at VFS office in evening with the Visa stamp, did she also pick up sealed brown envelope that she is supposed give to officer at Point of Entry in US/????

    CS

    1. VFS Is just across the street from embassy

    2. Yes.

  4. congrats. chintan.. n thank you for all the help, i wanted to ask you how did your wife provide call details (how u guys stay in touch)...did u save the phone cards or requested call details from reliance/airtel call home service? (if u use those services)

When you log in to your acct at reliance/airtel call home service there is section for call history, just print this and you will be fine, I mainly use trueroots.us as they have a niece feature which lets me export the call history into excel format and what I did was maintain the entire call history in excel document with the logo for reliance/airtel call home service. Hope this helps

  5. Thanks for answering chintan!

    Couple of other questions.

    1) What did you need to pick up the passport at VFS (their receipt, any id etc.)?

    2) Did you just book the air tickets in advance? Is there a way to book the ticket in India where the dates could be changed? Any travel agent you would recommend?

Thanks and Enjoy your married Life!

    1. you need the VFS receipt that is given when you submit the required documents at VFS, 10 days prior to interview. ( for more info see at http://mumbai.usconsulate.gov/interview_appt_schedule.html )

    2. I booked the in US and it was booked for 24-36hrs reservation and had to renewed every 2 day and I only confirmed and paid for the ticket today, and the ticket was an e-ticket so it was delivered by email to me and then forwarded to my wife in India.

    hopes this helps.

  6. Chintan, Congratulations on your approval!!

Thanks for your detailed post, it was quite helpful.

    Few questions

    1) How did your wife get a translator? Who did she ask to get it?

    2) Do you have to specify in any form that the passport can be picked at VFS office or mailed?

    3) Before the interview what documents did you submit to VFS?

    4) Did your wife submit the medical exam to VFS or just took it to the interview?

    Thanks and Good Luck!

    1. Yes, they provided one on request.

    2. They asked her how she needs the passport delivered, and she said my uncle would pick it up at VFS and he got the passport same day with no problem.

    3. Only the medical report and passport photo was submitted.

  8. Hey Chintan,

Good luck for your wife's interview. I live in Surat and my wife got her PCC from the Passport Office and no one has called her to the District office which is in Palsana. What do I do? I talked to my agent and he said that there is no PCC from the local office which is in palsana. He says in Gujarat you are unable to obtain a PCC from Local office. Please help me out. Thank You.

He is right, if you check the consulate site if does state that in some areas in Gujarat it is impossible to get an PCC, so you are OK and do not worry about. you only need one from passport office.

    hope this helps
