  1. I don't think those really old noa1 entries are still spending time at this site, if they were, they'd remember to update their timelines. I figure the top 50 is mostly people who have moved on and never came back... with maybe 3 or 4 of them being people who are receiving extra torture due to name checks or something. The good news is igor's does remove those who are outside of the USCIS processing times so the list is not likly to grow much as more inactive poeple fail to update.

  2. Wow, the results of your story are amazingly bad, I wouldn't think even in a typical marriage fraud situation that outright stealing would take place like that, no matter how poorly the fraud is disguised...

I've spent a fair amount of time researching how credit works in america, and while a bankruptcy is a pretty big flag, it's rarely that debilitating IF you re-establish some credit right away. After about 3 months you are likely to start receiving specialized credit offers specifically because you had a bankruptcy, credit companies want your business because they know it should be pretty easy to get, and because they also know you can't get it discharged in a bankruptcy any time soon. I'm not sure how your credit affects your job but if it's a matter of having good or bad credit score, then that shouldn't follow you for long if you work to improve it. If it's the fact there is a bankruptcy there, then I believe you can place some kind of 'flag' on your credit report and it can say whatever you want, but it may be somewhat space limitted, if you are worried you will be looked upon poorly as a result of having a bankruptcy there, it'd probably be a good idea to provide some details as to why. The law that pretty much forced you into bankruptcy is probably well known for doing so in your state and may be all you have to really say to explain the bankruptcy.

  3. I'm at CSC... no one seems to be getting approved wildely out of order like at VSC... I'm still hoping to get a NOA2... any second now, but I don't really have any expectations for at least 2 months. We can both hate on those lucky sept VSC filers together though!

Any time you try to quit smoking, is going to be a heavily stressful time, that's the addiction... from the point of view of how you feel, it's always a bad time to quit... from the realistic point of view right now is the right time to quit (if not sooner!). It's not easy though, I consider myself lucky to have gotten so sick I could not smoke (I tried! but I couldn't inhale the smoke at all), and to have realized the opportunity to quit when I did, it really couldn't have been easier.

  4. I highly recommend the flu if you are trying to quit smoking... I also suggest vigorous exercise to the point of exhaustion the day before you realize you are sick. Man I was sick but... best flu ever though considering the benefits I got out of it...

There usually is a weekend rush of some sort... but I am pretty sure this is going to be a slow week anyway... the numbers could double and it'd still be a slow week... (even after the week is over more NOA2's will be added to the week I'm sure but in the end, not nearly enough NOA2's).

well I have run out of cigarettes so it might do the trick but I doubt it lol

I am trying to sweat it out

There will never be enough NOA2's I am begining to think that it wont come through for me now till next month

Lets hope that next week is better fingers crossed

You are quite a bit closer to a NOA2 than I am, so I'm just going to say I hate your guts!... but yeah, hopefully next week is better.

Also for the smoking... it really only takes 4 days of not smoking, and you are done. I don't mean 4 days on a patch or something like that, nicotine is physically addictive, it's extremely hard to quit, but when you realize it only takes 4 days of being completely nicotine free, it doesn't sound quite so hard now... those first few days the cravings are ridiculous, but then after the 4th... the cravings are so diminished in comparison it's easy from then on... you'll develop the ability to smell cigarette smoke through 6 inches of lead and have dreams where you are smoking for quite a while... especially if you go in a bar where the air is smokey... how long have you been without smoking now? Now might be a golden opportunity in terms of kicking the addiction. I'm kidding abou thating you for having a closer NOA2 date... it's more like seething jealousy only...

  5. I still like fridays... I'm just as alone any other day of the week... but the bonus is I can pretty much waste away an entire weekend sleeping, goofing off, or whatever, doing something entertaining... and that means time flies on the weekends, in contrast to the weekdays where a big chunk of my day is spent at work, where most of the time I'm bored, and have entirely too much time to think about how long it'll be before I'm in the same country as my fiancee... it comes down to the 5 working days of the week... I spend a good chunk of my time bored and tortured, followed by the weekend, which is like an automatic -2 days off the count down to the NOA2... however, many people probably spend more time communicating with their fiance(e) on the weekends... my week nights are where I have the most communication and weekends not as much, I'm less chained to my instant messenger on the weekends (also on weekdays I tend to nap immediately after work so I can be up in the wee hours of the night talking to my fiancee... darn time zone differences).

  7. No one really picked the right numbers (which are still increasing now and then), it turned out to be a fairly good week for CSC and a fairly poor week for VSC... but here we are at the end of the next week and currently 7 and 6... ouch... 10-5-2008 - 10-12-2008 is lookin to be a slow week overall (and so far as I know, no new ridiculously fast approvals but I did see one that only took 3 months at VSC which is still pretty fast).

  8. Gemmie posted while I was checking the maths and everythong on my previous post... The days since the first of the year seems to match the date sent, instead of the date of the NOA1... day 232 is august 20th (the day I sent my package), day 234 is the day harsh sent their package... but gemmie is still off by a day so it's hard to say... but it seems based off the postmark and not the noa1.

Edit to add: I should have read the link I posted more carefully... weekends don't increase the number... so basically the oct 1 thing works... as a programmer it just seemed like it'd be awkward to skip weekends vs just counting the total number of days... but I guess only business days count

  9. I'm sure I read it somewhere on visajourney and swear I wouldn't betray this communities trust by reading other websites regarding visa's, journey's, or immigration... but this site details what I had read before.

    http://www.***removed***/immigration/deciph...ipt-number.html

The first day of the year is Oct 1 according to that, so I'm immediately seeing an issue there with my own case number (the group of 3 numbers being 232 I think) is that it's no where near close to the 320ish number it should be according to the site... but is pretty close if the first day of the year is jan 1... all I can say is from jan 1 to august 1 is 213 days, I actually mailed it on the 20th and the NOA1 was dated the 27th... I'm pretty sure it took close to 5 days to show as being received using UPS's tracking so... it's not exactly what I'd expect it to be. I'm sure I'm just doing something wrong here with how I counted the months or something... but my NOA1 is the 27th, and harsh's NOA1 is 2 days later... my number is 232, and harsh's is 234....

  10. There is a post somewhere explaining it... but it's something like the first three letters WAC or EAC (you know this part already), then 08 for 2008, the number of days from the first of the year that your petition was recieved, so jan 1 is 001, jan 2 is 002... the next month would be 031 assuming 30 days in jan, then there are 5 more numbers, having something to do with the number of petitions recieved on that day. This is second hand from memory (and looking at my own noa1)

Hmm mine doesn't seem to follow that formula.. I have the EAC and the 08 for the year but everything else is just random numbers.

Sorry to hear your news Mara, children can be incredibly comforting at a time like this.. I really hope she pulls through okay with the support of others around her.

So your number isn't something like EAC-08-225-XXXXX? august filers should have something between about 200-235 according to what I had read (I'm being lazy and just basing the range off my own number there). The final 5 digits could really be a random number for all I know... let us know if you fall in the 200-235 range (or well, really close to it... if not then I guess what I read was wrong or I remembered it wrong).

  12. THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!!!!!

Ok I checked today, no touch, hehehehehe, it's ok...........

There Im a bad boy now, now I repent! haahahahaha!

Sweet... now I wonder what else I can convince you to do... how about trading your tickets to the philippines in about 83 days now?... for this partially used sticky note I found on the floor of my office, the back side is totally not used at all! Sure you may say no now... but I've got a good 80 days to convince you it's a good idea still.

Trade? You better write I O U on it, then we'll talk! hahahahahaha!

Well, that's a way more positive start than I expected for this completely realistic trade... how about if I write U O I, all the important vowels requested there, plus if you pronounce it with a funny french accent it would sound kind of french....

  13. The top 100 of igor's list is riddled with people who may have wandered off and stopped visitting VJ, part of why once you hit the top 100 movement is going to slow down a lot, not that it matters because it seems anyone in the top 150 is due a NOA2. Igor's list ignor's people outside of the processing timeline I assume to prevent the list from growing with no end in sight from people who do wander off and forget thier timelines. Seems like I had looked at the timeline earlier and might have been about 10 places lower than now... there is some up and down fluctuation and I don't think it's purely people joining VJ that happen to have sent thier applications in before me. It is sorted on the date you sent the application instead of the NOA1 date.

  15. The USCIS date serves a different purpose than to tell you when it may be done, it also serves to tell you when you are allowed to start nagging them about it and asking your local senator to crawl up their butt, so they have extra incentive to keep their processing date farther back. Basically if you aren't out of their processing time, you can't really do anything about it, it's cut and dry, once you are outside of that time, you grant you permission to get answers of some kind I guess.

  16. It's a sign of progress, however vague that may be, at least... *something* happened... even if really all that happened was you reporting your first touch means suddenly the rest of us august filers will start looking to see if we've been touched a little more often... probably the only other person who has received a touch yet is fred, and he's going to forget his password to check the USCIS site before he actually checks to find out.... (yeah... the goal of all august filers should be to get fred to check his USCIS status at least once before december).

  17. Well, I hope the DV step is removed, it's one of those big uncertainties as far as processing time goes... but so far it seems like bad advice to tell people that it's gone... too many people don't seem to realize it needs to be paid early to begin with and until we have at least a good solid month of no DV being required it seems to risky to promote that. I am feeling at least a little lucky that I'm months away from getting to really worry about DV and by the time I need to know for certain, there'll be enough evidence one way or another to know.

  18. Am I the only one who noticed the irony here... the black guy got shot three times for wearing, a shirt with a black guy on it. My gut just screams that this particular story sounds made up... half way through the article... oh yeah, and he's a white guy with a shaved head! Maybe that's just how they write in the UK but anyway... if you feel it's a good idea to shoot someone for wearing a barrack obama shirt because barrack obama is black, then why not just shot someone for actually being black... basically the part that makes no sense here is accusing a white man of being a racist just because he shot a black man... I suspect he's not a racism and just really dislikes barrack obama's political campaign, and that race had little to do with it (of course yeah... there was the reported racial slurs but I already suspect that article is not completely on the up and up).

That said it'll be a shame if the shooter gets away with this, it's also too bad that the victim didn't run the guy down with his significantly deadlier weapon, his car... but as the article said he was bleeding profusely (or just thought he was... it wasn't clear and he didn't look too horrifically damaged from the attack in his picture).

  19. I like watching igor's list because stuff happens usually... though it tends to be slow during the beginning of the week... I hate watching it because you can see 20 new NOA2's for people... look to find your place and it's basically unchanged (as new timelines are filled in by people who filed before you)... 268 on the list now but it's been slow progress moving down on the list but I think the closer you get to the actual NOA2 the less likely new people with timelines ahead of yours are to pop up ahead of you. Moving up that list seems to be on a reverse bell curve basically. I'm sure it also slows down as you reach the top 100 or so again as many of those people are outside the typical wait time (but not outside of the USCIS processing time yet).

Igor's list is a more entertaining version of the login to USCIS's website to see if you have been touched game... but it's less work to check and usually has some mildly good news on a daily basis as other people ahead of you get approved. And yes, I DO check igor's multiple times in a day...
