  1. Finally, after over 3 months in AP, she has received her Visa just moments ago when the Air 21 driver followed her all over town and finally found her in the restaurant at a wedding.

It does not matter how long the rest takes, we can handle it together.

Congratulations to both of you..I guess the wedding will be in Texas and not in the other state..and we are invited..lol.

    So when she is coming?

  2. What's the fastest way to send money to the Philippines without costing an expensive service charge? Any idea's? Can I fed ex to the hotel or her home some money form? just an idea... can i go to my usa bank and have it wired to a phil bank?

Sorry, I didnt answer you question:

Western Union--as long as she has the MTCN that , she can get it right away with proper Identification

Xoom- You can see/check on you email account if the money is available to pick up--If you are just new sender, they will check the bank that you are going to use, make sure that the name of depositor and other stuff..but on the next transaction there will be no problem, just make send the transaction and you can check too if the money was able to pick up..They need ID too and to make it sure use secret word or message..

Wells FArgo- Make sure she/he has all the necessary docs needed by the bank like IDs..the typical Standard Procedure..

    Just an infos:

Western Union- $12 per 100 to 800.00 usd transaction ( make sure use RCPI Western Union esp in the province cause they have a good conversion rate compare to bank and other western Union agent. )

Xoom- they have better/lower remittance fee rate but the conversion is lower with what you can get from Western Union RCPI agent)

like if you send $100 now , their remittance fee is $3.50 but the conversion rate is 47plus which is the prevailing rate now in the market is 48.50..If you will send less than $200 or 300, I guess this is better..

Wells FArgo Bank- If you have checking account and there is automatic deposit for your savings of $75 per month , you can send money at Bank of the Philippine Island for flatrate or $2.50 per transaction but they will get money in peso on a prevailing bank rate which is kinda lower with what RCPI Western Union can offer..

If you're Fiance is in Manila, better send on any Western Union agent but make sure She can get in Dollar so she can find any Black(Block) Market who offers a good rate in peso but be careful, make sure she writes all the infos on the dollar she is getting like writing the serial numbers and make sure double check the amount she is getting..count the money carefully before leaving the Money Changer..

I did Western Union and Xoom already but I was able to check the Wells Fargo since I have an account with them..With the bad Economy going on you need to be careful and practical on sending money to our love ones.

Hope my information can help you..

  4. up for Pacman...

    http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/273767

Big names in boxing have been 'fighting' in the past few days for the right to face pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao, considered the most popular and influential boxer in the world today.

The world’s top professional boxers are ‘fighting’ for the right to face Manny Pacquiao for the biggest boxing event of the year. These top boxers are champions and their own right. They are also top revenue grosser whenever they enter the ring as main attraction in major boxing events.

These boxing champions who are fighting for the right to face the pound-for-pound king include Floyd Mayweather, Jr., Shane Mosley, Juan Manuel Marquez, Miguel Cotto and lately Michael Katsidis, among others.

Shane Mosley has gone out of his way to entice Pacquiao to pick him for his next fight, offering a 60-40 share of the fight purse in favor of the pound-for-pound king. Floyd Mayweather on the other hand is doing a reverse psychology by pricing himself too high just to catch Pacquiao’s attention saying that he is still the pound-for-pound king as he retired undefeated, while Juan Manuel Marquez is salivating at a third encounter with Pacquiao and claiming that he was cheated in their previous fights.

In the case of Miguel Cotto, he said he won’t go down to Pacquiao’s desired weight but his promoter Bob Arum has trained his eye on a Pacquiao-Cotto match, while Michael Katsidis is just starting to make some noise to get Pacquiao’s attention.

But why are these world champions fighting for the right to face Manny Pacquiao? The most logical answer is money. But then again, these popular boxers are themselves millionaires and most of them don’t really need to work very hard to enjoy the good life.

One of the real reasons for most of these top boxers to try just about any conceivable way to get Pacquiao’s attention is the opportunity to show the world that the pound-for-pound king is beatable and that if anyone of them beats Manny, he will emerge as the world’s best boxer to date.

That’s right, if anyone of these top boxers wins over Manny Pacquiao, he will most likely become the best boxer of the year. But he will never be the world’s most popular boxer like Manny Pacquiao who is listed in the top 100 Time Magazine list. He is not only popular around the world but he is influential at the same time.

Pacquiao’s popularity is beyond reach which most of these boxers cannot duplicate. One of the reasons why Pacquiao is idolized by millions of boxing fans around the world is his unique life story and his character as a true Christian. Manny Pacquiao finds satisfaction in helping the poor and the needy not to mention his humility and his burning desire to help his homeland in any way possible.

In the meantime, Manny Pacquiao has recently moved to a new residence in nearby Sarangani province in southern Philippines in preparation for his second shot at a congressional seat representing Sarangani congressional district.

    ABS-CBN News reports:

Pacquiao said his decision to move to Sarangani is part of his plan to run for Congress. However, he said he will not yet be engaged in political activities.

Pacquiao, who soundly defeated British boxer Ricky Hatton last May 2, will continue to spend his free time with his family since the election campaign season is still five months away.

Manny is scheduled to fly to New York City next week to receive his ‘Best Boxer of the Year’ award from the Boxing Writers Association of America.

Michael Phelps admits to smoking cannabis after bong picture is published

Phelps's career could lie in ruins after being pictured in the News of the World allegedly taking drugs

    Kevin Eason, Sports News Correspondent

Michael Phelps has admitted to smoking cannabis and apologised after a picture of the record-breaking Olympian with a bong pipe was published in a British tabloid today.

The swimmer, who won eight gold medals at the Beijing Games, conceded the authenticity of the picture published by the News of the World.

“I engaged in behaviour which was regrettable and demonstrated bad judgment. I’m 23 years old and despite the successes I’ve had in the pool, I acted in a youthful and inappropriate way, not in a manner people have come to expect from me. For this, I am sorry. I promise my fans and the public it will not happen again,” Phelps said in a statement.

Phelps’s career may now be tarnished beyond repair. Athletes caught using cannabis, a banned substance under rules set out by the World Anti-Doping Agency, face a ban of up to two years.

Drug claim could spell disaster for Phelps

Michael Phelps: adapting to life on land

Phelps has never failed a drugs test and even offered to take extra tests before the Olympic Games in August to promote an anti-doping campaign.

So far, the authorities have no grounds for taking action and, even if ordered to take a new test, Phelps could still be shown to be drug-free because the alleged offence was said to have taken place in November.

The picture of Phelps, his baseball cap worn back to front, using a lighter to send smoke along his glass bong, emerged after a student party where the 6ft 4in swimmer was also claimed to have been drinking heavily, in stark contrast to his Olympic mantra, which was to swim, eat, sleep and swim again.

Phelps could claim that the drug has no performance-enhancing effects, which might allow the authorities to let him off with a reprimand. But such a high-profile case is bound to stir up controversy and the swimmer could find himself being made an example of to the rest of the sporting fraternity.

Marketing experts are predicting massive fallout and a quick exit by sponsors who could put an end to Phelps’s dream of cashing in on his Olympic exploits to the tune of $100 million (£68.5 million).

“If this is all true, it will be nothing short of a disaster,” John Taylor, chairman of Sports Impact, one of Britain’s leading sponsorship agencies, said. “Every sponsor has something called a disrepute clause written into their contracts and I will bet a few of them will be running through the small print first thing on Monday morning.

“Big corporate sponsors are very sensitive about any issues involving drugs, particularly if their product is bought by, or directed, at children. You cannot have any doubts about the personality you employ to promote your products.

“Sportsmen and women are naive to think that things like this will not come out and, when it does, it has a massive impact. Phelps was the hero of Beijing and a massive star in the United States. But what happens when America discovers their hero is tarnished? He may not be taking performance-enhancing drugs but this is a terrible stain on his image.”

Phelps returned from Beijing a marketing man’s dream and sponsors rushed to sign him up with his management team at the Octagon agency claiming they were fending off as many as 50 offers daily.

Phelps, 23, earns at a conservative estimate up to £5 million a year from deals with ten major companies, including Hilton Hotels, Omega watches, Kellogg’s cereals and Speedo swimwear. Speedo paid Phelps a $1 million bonus for winning his eight golds in Beijing.

Although best known in the United States, his appeal has been spreading around the world. Only last month, he signed the biggest deal for a Western personality in China when he became the face of Mazda cars.

The Phelps case has a parallel in Britain where Matt Stevens, the Bath and England rugby union prop forward, faces a two-year ban for taking cocaine.

Phelps has been in trouble before: in 2004, he was sentenced to 18 months’ probation for drunk driving.

  8. Now that I'm done with my interview and got approved, just wanna ask if anyone could give me an idea what to expect from Delbros delivery..

I mean, what they usually do to notify you that they'll be delivering your visa that day. Since my fiance is coming over to pick me up. We already had plans on him being here for Cebu's most celebrated Mardi Gras every year which is Sinulog (Jan 18) but he'll leave NYC by Jan 16. We haven't booked up airline tickets yet for our departure but I'm worried of him getting to stay in Cebu for long and ruining our plans.

I live in Cebu City though our house is kinda hard to locate kasi nasa liblib na kabukiran e.. hehe.. I usually pick up my packages at our barangay hall since some of the messengers doesn't know where to locate our house. Though I got my NVC letter right our doorstep bako nahilo ang messenger sa kakahanap bahay namin..

Does anybody here from Cebu City who had their visas already? May I know the time frame from your interview till receiving your visa?

Hope to hear from you my fellow Cebuanas and VJers..!

Case to case basis.. since I am from the province too like you but southern part of Luzon. I got my visa 1 week after my interview, got no problem or the delivery guy didnt get any hard time finding my house considering my packet for interview and medical lost or went to other province, good thing that my fiance now my hubby checked to the embassy during his second visit to me last november and the lady at window X gave us new packet . usually they send a text messages of the status of your visa. goodluck and enjoy ur sinulog festival..btw my sis and officemates are going to cebu this sinulog festival too, they are invited by the Provincial Director of National Food Authority..
