  1. He was actually admitted on the old (soon to be expired 10/12) passport. So I put this number in?
  2. I had asked this before but I'm afraid it got lost in the mix. Does anyone who's filed with child support as proof of income know how it must be submitted? As it turns out, I over-estimated when looking at the amounts needed and I actually might make it with my salary plus the child support. The child support is how I support the children that I have listed as my dependents, so is it acceptable to list is as income? I don't claim it on my taxes because it's not taxable income, so as mentioned above, the "proof" I have for this is just my bank statements for these deposits and my divorce decree that states my ex must pay it. I don't have his wages garnished and we don't have whatever government form is usually used for it. Does anyone know if that's enough? Should I put a footnote into the additional page and explain? TIA!
  3. She's 19 now. She is here on the K2 and we did already get married. I thought she was good so long as we got married and she came before she turned 21?
  4. The above is from the USCIS website for the spouse. As I understand it, it's the same for her so long as she gets the AOS with him. Is that not correct?
  5. Is it 3 years for my step-daughter as well? From what I've read, I need to file something for her to ask for her green card but I'm unclear about when I can do that.
  6. I forgot to ask above, should I automatically include 3 years? And should I ask the joint sponsor to do the same? Thanks again amazing people!
  7. For the I-864 for me (if I'm filing with a joint sponsor- not sure if that matters) For my financials: Which Tax transcript am I sending? IRS website has 4 different options listed: Account Transcript Return Transcript Wage & Income Transcript Record of Account Transcript Each one lists my gross earned income for last year. Also, should I list my child support income if all I have to document it is my bank statement deposits for the year? My ex and I don't have the typical government child support agreement. It's just something that's listed in our divorce contract. It also ends in June so not sure if it matters or not. What about my school transcript with awards and scholarships? Do I include that? Wouldn't the grants I get from FAFSA and my Needs-based scholarships be considered "means-tested income"? This below confuses me... So I have the PDFs from the IRS website. That's not considered a "photocopy" correct? It's a print-out. Are they asking for something else? It says there's no need for a certified copy of this unless asked. So with the print-out of whichever tax transcript I must include, I do or do not need a copy of my W2 as well? There's an IRS version transcript in one of those 4 versions listed. Is that acceptable to give as the W2? Finally, if I do include the child support and anything else would the sum total of that amount be the amount I list in #7 "My current annual individual income is: "... ? TIA!
  8. I understand. I meant the financial situation for me/us would be resolved when I said it was a 'moot point.' Thank you for the info!
  9. Another Question, and this might be more appropriate for a different thread but I don't want to get flagged for starting too many threads... The new intended joint-sponsor who is researching whether or not he can do this right now is in the middle of applying for a small business loan and has a kid about to go off to college. He (and wife) are family members as well. They are well off but, understandably wary of the wording of sponsorship. He/they trust me and know I'm good for it. In a year and a half I'll be an RN and all of this becomes a moot point. He's just worried about potential ramifications for the loan application. Does anyone who has gone the co-sponsorship route know if this can affect your loan credibility? I'm not talking about "if the worst should happen, etc.." I mean does just signing the contract somehow trigger credit alerts or anything like that? TIA!
  10. I don't know but it's listed on the website as an "additional fee" so I'd imagine OldUser has the right of it. I would, ofc, love for you to be correct. Either way, I hope to stay clear of this option. He's on vacation for a wedding on a tropical island. I don't think that's going to happen with him sending tax stuff from there, but I'm working on another solution to keep us on set with all of the dates and if that falls through, yes, we will explore filing late but asap. This has now become my sole focus. I hope it's not too late and I get what you're saying.
  11. Understood, thank you. We're doing all we can now to avoid it and I hope we are able to make it work. I appreciate the info.
  12. I'm sorry I didn't update, but I did do the research and came up with the same. Thank you for your sage advice and for taking the time to be sure that I understood it! I appreciate it truly!
  13. Thank you for all of this! It's incredibly helpful!
  14. I did look into it and have it correctly filled as c9 now. Thank you.
  15. Another question for this form: So the passport that the K1 is attached to expires 10/12/25. He has his new passport already but the passport he came in on is the one mentioned. Item 21b asks for the "Passport number of your most recently issues passport" Would that be the new one? If so then would we put his old passprt number (the one the K1 is attached to and that he came in on in number 21c? where it asks "Travel document number"
  16. Filing Category Paper Filing Fee General Filing Additional Fee: If you file with, or your Form I-485 is adjudicated by, the Immigration Court (Pub. L. 119-21). $1,440 $1,500 I don't understand what the $1500 is for? So the first time I file it's $1440/immigrant? And the $1500 is what? In case we are denied and have to file again?
  17. So with these two things in mind... if I file late (like a week) would they reject it just because it's late if it's complete? Or, if I filed incomplete, could I include a cover letter explaining that a co-sponsor application is coming?
  18. I could also send in I 485, MY I 864 and then send in my brothers?
  19. Brainstorming... what if we file the AOS and send in I 864 later (end of month) since that's the main issue?
  20. So because we are down to the wire and bc of a miscommunication with our joint sponsor, we may not have the joint sponsor documents in time to meet the 90 day deadline. My brother is out of the country and won't be back until the 17th. Our 90 day mark is 10/16? Maybe 10/13 actually bc he came into the country 7/16. In any case, unless my brother gets back too late. It's my fault. I didn't fully understand the different deadlines bc I've been running around for school, work and getting all the appointments set up. We got the SSN for him and opened them both bank accounts but this... So, please don't berate me. Trust me I know. I'm sick with it. I know you all get asked stuff like this all the time by idiots like me but what do I do if I'm filing a little late? (like days late) Is there any way to get an extension? I don't meet the financial requirements without the joint sponsor so I'm not sure if filing without his stuff would do any good.
  21. We did file the SSN and he has it. That's one of the reasons we're just getting to the paperwork for the I-864. It took a while to get the SSN appointment.
  22. He can speak English, he juist doesn't always understand what these intense government forms are asking for. We are filling them out together though. He just didn't want to screw something up if he filled it out alone.
  23. Not sure what you mean, but if you mean why isn't he filling it out? It's because the language is tedious and confuses him at points. We tried having him do it alone before and it... was not good. There's a bit of a language barrier and we didn't want to make any mistakes. We are also filing with a co-sponsor. From what I'm reading, I can't go wrong with a6. Also I read the instructions but can't figure out where else to look this up.
