  1. I'm not sure if it's a cultural thing, but I haven't met a filipino who is camera shy. They love taking pictures and love being in the picture. Americans aren't as photogenic unless we're celebrities or like to pretend we're famous. Granted, this is the digital age and you longer need to purchase film and then pay to have it developed, but good golly, can we put the camera down for a moment, forget about posing and just enjoy the moments for what they are instead of it turning into an audition?

Lol, I hear you. I am a Filipino and I do love taking pictures and love being in the picture, but not to the extent of exaggeration. My husband (american) doesn't like taking pics or being in the picture. His not a camera shy, but he just doesn't care much about it.

You should know the new trend right now which they called "selfie", that every time they get the chance they would take pictures of themselves and post it on social media platform, sometimes it's annoying. Some would even post a picture of themselves with the caption " sleeping" duh,..

  2. Hi Guys!

We are currently in the Philippines right now (Gensan City Mindanao) and we are preparing for our move next year hopefully by May 2014. Do you have any recommendation when it comes to shipping all our stuff from the US to the Philippines? I am due to go back to the US by March and have to packed everything and ready for shipping. Can anyone recommend the following.

    1. Moving company from Mississippi to General Santos City
    2. How much will be the cost?(ball park)
    3. Can we bring our vehicles?

I will post more questions as I prepare.

    Appreciate it!

    Thanks

  3. You did both at the same time? I thought you had to have the returned RoM back from the Philippines prior to submitting for a new passport.

Yes i did both, passport renewal and report of marriage at Chicago Consulate. I don't think you have to have the returned ROM before you can submit for a new passport. ROM is part of the requirements of renewing your passport especially when you need to use your married name. What i got in the mail were my new passport under my married name and the original copy of our ROM (I submitted along with passport renewal documents) with seal and signed from Chicago Consulate.

  4. My wife's passport is expiring and needs a new one. Looking through the Internet, I've determined we need to do a Report of Marriage. I realize that the lateness is probably not that big of a deal, just need more documents, but the one that I don't know about is this requirement:

We were married in Guam 4 years ago and have had two USA born children in that time. Until recently I had no idea that there was a Report of Marriage to do at all. We now live in Illinois, so reporting in person to the Guam Consulate isn't possible. Does anyone know what additional difficulties we will face because of this?

If your wife needs to renew her passport then she needs to appear to the nearest consulate office as to your location right now ( Jurisdiction). When I had to renew my passport, I needed to appear personally. My area of jurisdiction is Chicago consulate. I also did the report of marriage because of change of last name. It was all done in one day and just waited on my new passport 6 weeks later in the mail.

  5. This is cute. I've been in the states for 5 years and I can attest to the above statement. It's all true and the adjustment period was hard and funny, but like my husband said, I am becoming a southern girl now because I talk like everybody else and have well adjusted. Thanks to him, his always been there and will always be.

  6. Well the first time we flew in together I don't think they stamp his passport for 1 year extension and when he came back last month all by himself, they require him the exit visa. Is there still a way we can have his passport stamped for 1 year extension with the proof that we flew in together to the Philippines in September?

  7. Also, the company he work with is buying his tickets. They purchase a one way ticket every time he gets off work and purchase one back when his ready to fly in back to the US for work. The problem is, they require him an exit ticket all the time. Our marriage certificate is not good enough. Is there a document that proves that me and my kids live in the Philippines and then he comes visit when his off work while we are processing his I-card?

  8. Does anybody here tried getting an I-card for your stay in the Philippines? My husband and I planned on opening a bank account here, but they require an I-card and we thought it was just a simple application, but found out it's a long process. Can anyone walk us through the process and recommend an agency that will process his papers.

    Thanks

  9. Is there any changes on the K1 process now? In my time before, my visa petition went by quick. Any insights on this? Just curious about the process because somebody we know has been waiting so long now and still no words.

    Thanks

  10. Looking for a place to rent in general santos city prefer to be furnished 3-4 bedrooms also if anyone knows the process for buying a house there that information will be helpful we are hoping to be having an extended visit and possible move there so all information will be helpful

  11. The doctors in the PI..

SHoot half the time i cant even see my main doctor on the same day im sick... I call and say im sick with the flu i need a doctors note for work.. they freaking tell me.. they have an opening next week!! WTFFF do i pay for benifits for then?? I have to get a note for today since i got sick today... not next week!!!

In the pi they see you the same day.

When you consider that 25% of the doctors ( that is not a made up number) in the United States are trained in other countries including the Philippines your question now changes my doctor here is from the Philippines the difference is over there I pay him $10 over here I pay him $150 is the care any better I really don't think so it cost me $$7500 over here to tell me I had indigestion even after insurance my share was $1500 and then they wanted me to come back for another appointment which I gladly missed so answer a different question do you want to pay $1000000 to drive a fararie or are you satisfied with 50000 to drive a mustang both are muscle cars you just pay more for the useless fancy trimmings but then that's my opinion :)

  12. My wife and I will be returning to the Philippines in September . I will only be staying a week then come back to work I will return for Christmas come back to work after the new year. She will not return till march. If she likes it she will be packing everything up to move over there permanately now for the questions

    1) how hard would it be to get a tourist visa for her mom to come back in march because we need second adult for the kids but also so she will have help packing?

    2) we expect the packing to take two months as we hope to be ready the first of may so her visa needs to be good for at least 60 days preferable 90 days

    3) is there a way to apply straight out for a multiple entry visa as the states may become our vacation site so my parents can see the kids

    4) my wife is afraid of applying for her moms visa to early saying it is only good for six months I am worried about putting it off to long and her mom not being able to come to states with her

    5) is there anything we did not think of or something that may help us?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer

  13. Hmmm, my ex insisted on using my married name and that was the name on our divorce.

Suppose if she went back to her maiden name would type in Maiden Name/Married Name. That way the name would appear as it is on the divorce and they would know her maiden name if they wanted to contact her for any reason.

But if his divorce paper shows she went back to her maiden name, would just use her married name.

Didn't we go through all this stuff during the AOS? Why do we have to go through all that again? Can skip all that with the five year, can skip a whole bunch of stuff with the five year.

Unfortunately we have to do it again for naturalization.

  14. Hello guys!

A friend of ours just met his fiancee in the Philippines last month. Everything went well. He is bound and determined to have her here this year, but there will be some hindrances along the way. These are the things that he is most concern of: He is still on the process of his divorce, so he cannot really file for a fiance visa, unless it is final - He is aware of this. Second, he filed his tax as married this year since he is not divorce yet, the question is, if and so, the divorce will be finalized, is there a baring on the tax paper he filed as married if he submits the divorce paper along with it when he files for the fiance visa? or does he have to wait next year to file as single?

I hope somebody could enlighten this concern.

    Thanks

  16. Hi everyone,

I hope you can help me with my dilemma. Here Goes:

I have applied for my ROC March of last year and got approved September of last year. The approval letter that I got states that if I have not receive my 10 year gc within 60 days is to call and verify. 60 days had passed and called and USCIS told me that hey have already sent my card October of last year. They have even provided me a tracking number and it says delivered. The problem is, I have not receive any letter from USCIS in the mail and I have also did an inquiry at the USPS and they said they couldn't track it anymore. Now, USCIS said that the card was not return to their custody and considered lost, so I have to file for an I-90 for a replacement with a fee of 480 bucks. The process will take up to 6 months according to them (USCIS). I do not think it is fair that I have to pay this amount as it is not my fault that I have never receive my card. Any insights on this? My other concern is, by March of this year I will be eligible to file for my citizenship. Is it a smart move to just file for my citizenship and not the I-90 anymore for the replacement of my 10 year gc that way I do not have pay 2 fees? Will the approval letter that I got will be enough proof that my petition to ROC has been approved and just didn't receive my card?

    Please help me guys.

  17. I think you have nothing to worry about. Like others said, just provide them with tons of evidence of your relationship. I met my fiance (now husband) in October of 2007, he flew to the Philippines on Feb of 2008, we got engaged on the same month and he only stayed there for 10 days. My k1 petition went well and didn't have any problem with it. Good luck
