January 2025 AOS Filers
KoreaninHawaii replied to Yareth's topic in Adjustment of Status Case Filing and Progress Reports
So we arrived at our interview a little bit too early. Security told us to come back no later than 30 mins (we were 7minutes early for 30 minutes 🤣) After going through security we sat down and waited with 7 other couples that also came in the same time as us. After 5 minutes from the appointment time people started being called in. We were the fourth couple to be called in. Had a lady for the interview had us both come in together and after swearing ourself in she asked if we had any paperwork to give and we gave her updated medical paperwork which was looked over and scanned. surprisingly i was asked more questions than my wife 🤣 was asked the year i met my wife. my favorite filipino foods which i said was adobo and ended asking my wife how to make chicken feet adobo cause she wanted to make who introduced me to my wife do i like visiting Philippines we mentioned traveling to new york and she said do be careful with all that is going on do you like where you live is the address on file your physical or mailing address and just some small talk about foods, what we do after work, where we work, etc afterwards she said we are approving your case today just the system is a bit slow today ❤️ Then told us when to apply for removal of conditions and when can apply for citizenship if she wants and that was it. We left maybe a hour after arrival to interview and its done ❤️ just waiting for her case to be updated on myuscis now also of note while awaiting for being called in received and email about case being updated but after logging in nothing had changed. thank you to all for the help and support and wishing all those waiting too a good interviews too 🥰 -

Thank you @Aserc @Edward and Jaycel. I just need to focus on whats on hand and stay positive. :). We are going this Thursday to pick up and sign her medical paperwork. They called us the other day that we can pick it up so I'm seeing that as a good sign. Then work for a day or two then off to Honolulu to get set for the interview. Will keep everyone updated once it done. 💓 -

So we filled out the I-693 sections we needed to fill out but we checked the number 4. "Immigration Medical Examination Requirement 4. I am eligible for completion of the vaccination record portion only, because I previously completed an overseas immigration medical examination, signed by a panel physician (refugee or derivative asylee adjustment of status applicants under Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) section 209 and K nonimmigrant visa holders applying for adjustment of status)." Since we actually handed over all her medical exam when she arrived and we only had her vaccination record from SLEC. So the doctor I guess fills out the rest but yes she has to get some shots here then the results or whatnot will be sent to the other doctor so he can sign off on it so we are going to go do it tomorrow morning so hopefully by 2 weeks from that Friday it will be done. Doctor said they will sign and have it sealed so we just have to pick it up. I'm hoping we are done by then because her interview is 3 days from that Friday. Also when I saw they changed the rules for I-693 for AOS I-485 I got super stressed. 😪 -

Did the wife vaccination today. We have to go back in two weeks though to pick up the signed sealed paperwork though. :(. Also @Edward and Jaycel not sure were or should I post but if anyone didnt see USCIS has changed the rules for the I-693 starting June 11, 2025. "U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services is updating its Policy Manual to clarify that a Form I-693, Report of Immigration Medical Examination and Vaccination Record, is only valid while the application the Form I-693 was submitted with is pending." According to USCIS, any Form I-693 signed by a civil surgeon on or after November 1, 2023, will no longer be valid if the associated Form I-485 (Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status) is withdrawn or denied. Applicants in such cases must submit a newly signed Form I-693 with any future immigration application. The updated policy is effective immediately and applies to all cases that are either pending or filed on or after June 11, 2025. -

For my wife we received an email that a interview was scheduled and we will receive a letter in the mail. She should be receiving her letter today when I go to check our mail (according to USPS informed delivery). -

On the bright side the doctor said since they usually only do this medical stuff in the afternoon and where I am coming from they will do it in the morning for me. 💓 Now I just need to time everything from the boat ride, to the lyft or uber, to the doc, how long it will take at the doc, and coming back lol. -

@Aserc @Edward and Jaycel Sorry if messaging was rash. I stressed a bit now since there is only 1 qualified doctor near my island else I would have to travel a bit further which brings even higher added costs. Just trying to figure out how I will manage to get this all done. I do we all have everything go well for all of us. This process is so stressful again. -

Apologies I was trying to find a civil surgeon in my area. I found one that is able to do it for us as early as next week. It will cost $300 to do plus I have traveling expenses since we live on different islands the doctor and me but don't really have a choice it needs to be done. -

If it's stating you have to get the vaccine or proof it was administered wouldn't going to a doctor that can do it and signing off be it a letter or paper showing the vaccine was given count as proof? It's confusing cause if I being told I have to do part of I-693 but I could also show proof it was done wouldn't either be accpetable? -

Only thing I not really sure of is the medical: Her medical she did for the K1 visa expires in mid July but from all the notices I have received so far I did not get anything about doing another medical exam for her. For my understanding as long as the AOS was filed within 1 year of the medical being done we should be ok unless they ask for it. We will bring a copy of her medical exam from that time just in case though for the interview. One of my RFE was the Affidavit of Support which I did send in and after that the interview was scheduled but I will fill another one out and bring the required tax papers just in case as well. My gosh it's alot of stuff to check for and make sure I have lol. Little bit stressed now. -

Since my wife interview has been scheduled I have another question for anyone who can answer. A week later me and her will be on vacation traveling to see my family in the USA mainland. It should still be safe to travel while they make a decision on her case after the interview? Also if by any chance they do make a decision like approved while we are on vacation should I be concerned since if approved she would need her greencard right away? Unfortunately I cannot change the vacation plans now that is my main concern now. -

I still have a original copy of my marriage certificate and I tried to get more they let us order more copies online and usually takes 6 to 8 weeks now its been 3 months with no update. They have three numbers you can call 2 are no longer in service the other nobody picks up and even the email nobody answers. 🤣 The consulate here makes us email pictures of all the paperwork first before we can even send anything in. The first time I did the notary I used put their seal on a spot where the consulate didn't want it so when I redid it they said it was fine and after I sent the paperwork in like 4 days they sent back what they needed with an attached paper stating in about 6 months you may apply for the update passport with the updated name. lol. -

Have her EAD, also have her State ID (no driver license for now) will also bring her passport, receipt notice as well and will bring a copy of our marriage certificate. Her passport has her maiden name so already filed for the name change but the Philippines Consulate sent the paperwork in and told us at least 6 months before we can file to get her passport updated. -

I see. I had to refile my AOS due to a filing mistake on my part but I would assume the date they say they received it would be the cutoff for the 90 days. Still stressing about everything since we have a vacation coming up and I do have everything I need in case someone does ask just with everything going on and with all the constant changes I still worry. Trying to stay positive at the moment. ❤️
