  1. It took me 9 months!

There are 2 things that the IO told me about not getting approved on the spot (My husband is nosy and asked).

    1. Your name has not cleared FBI name check

    2. It was a newer IO that needed to get an ok from a supervisor

Don't worry the letter will come, you could also check your 485 status online, if by the chance yours works you will be able to know if and when you are approved.

    Cheers....

  2. Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

    Current Status: Card production ordered.

On January 20, 2009, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

  3. Many immigrants have walked into this second interview unprepared and ignorant of the consequences of failure. The Stokes interview is not an interview to be attended without proper guidance. The only thing I can liken attending the interview unprepared with is an attempt to commit suicide. Success or failure at such an interview determines your future in the United States.

At the stokes or fraud interview, you and your spouse will be questioned separately. You will be asked the same questions. It is expected that all the answers must be the same before you could be certified as passed. On the average, you will be asked about 120 questions. I have attended one in which my clients were asked 232 questions. Surprisingly, we passed the test.

An adverse decision at the second interview is a determination that your marriage is fraudulent which means that the examiner has concluded that you entered into the marriage solely for the purpose of obtaining immigration benefits or evading immigration laws.

A denial at the stokes interview is tantamount to issuance of a death penalty. The recipient of such has no hope of obtaining permanent residence status for life in the United States. Once a denial order is issued every subsequent petition filed by such beneficiary or on his/her behalf will be summarily denied. Such application could be through employer, brother or sister, another spouse or D.V. program. There seems to be no exception to this strict rule.

  4. I really hope this comes across the right way, but if they are asking you for another interview then obviously there was something the IO felt was missing and/or inadaquate.

If I were you I would bring a lot more than what you brought last time (it was obviously not enough to convince the IO), its not what you think is enough evidence!

Good Luck! The stokes is a serious interview, there won't be another. Its deportation after that!

  5. Hmmm! Well the IO didn't make me sign anything. But her clearly stated " Congratulations you are now a conditional resident of the USA".

I have read a lot of instances on here where they were not approved on the spot for a few reason

    1. the FBI check was not completed

    2. it was a newer IO and they had to have it "checked" or "approved" by a more experienced IO

From what my IO told me (at least here in Atlanta) they have done away with sending away the information to be "checked' or "confirmed" before actually sending out the Green Card. They (the Atlanta Office) now does it in house to make the process easier.

I wouldn't worry , I am sure you will be receiving a welcome letter within the next few weeks. If not you could always make an Infopass and if you are approved you can ask for the Temp I-551 stamp there and they should give it to you.

    Cheers.

  6. Congrat!!!!!!

I just passed my interview on 01/13/09 and got approved in Cleveland! Yes, baby! But I now realized that I didn't get any "temporary evidence" regarding my greencard approval... makes me feel a little bit worried. Just wondering.. did you get any kind of "approval note" after the interview?

It has been 2 days since then and I didin't receive CRIS Email regarding welcome or card production ordered, etc info yet. Also, my online status hasn't been updated yet - it still shows that my I-485 & I-130 is pending. Is that "normal"? Hope you can give me some clue. Thanks in advance.

Congratulations!! Well from what I have seen it takes a bit for the website to update! And it generally takes 4-6 weeks to receive the card, of course he "winked" at me and whispere "4-5 days" So I won't really know till I get it.

  7. Atlanta Interview Review:

    January 15, 2009 10:00AM

So after much nagging the and not much sleep the night before we left an hour early, it surprisingly only took 15 minutes. The Security line was HUGE so we got through and followed the information on the Interview notice to go to the 3rd floor. We waited for about 45 minutes for our name to be called and in the meantime started talking to the couple behind us and she said that we had to check in on the second floor. I PANICKED BAD! It was already 10 past 10 and I knew our name would be called. I flipped out so my husband and I went downstairs stated our case; she didn’t do anything except to tell us to go back upstairs. We go back up 2 minutes later and Guess what? Our names had been called while we left to go “Check in”! I was pissed off! Typical Immigration never giving you the right information and you are the one hurt for it.

So make sure you ask the security office where to go when you come in and he checks your notice.

Ok, so the IO comes out with a huge smile and was just the most pleasant man in the world. I walk in and there is this HUGE stack of papers (Both of my RFE Evidence) faced towards my chair. He laughed at my husband and said sarcastically “You sure you want to be married to her” LOL Told me he didn’t have time to shred that much paper so If I could kindly take that back with me. 

He started asking for all my papers and before he could finish I had them all there, the EAD, AP, Driver License, passport.

He asked my Husband his name, address, SSN. Super informal, My husband didn’t know the name of my birth mother (She left my dad when I was 1 I have never had contact with her) so I explained, asked him my Dad’s name (he got that wrong as well) “Men” I rolled my eyes and he laughed. Then asked me the same. Then flips through and him and my husband are talking about if he does these interviews does it get monotonous yadda yadda. He asks if we have kids and I joke yes my dogs…

He picks up the Photo Album looks through there. Then puts all my papers in a drawer and asks me if I am planning to leave the US in the next 4 weeks, so I said maybe. He then tells me it will be sent in 4-6 weeks (And winked at us while saying this and mouthed 4-5 days). Hubby asked about the stamp and they have changed their system so that the IO’s now have control putting the correct information on the Green Card that get electronically sent out to production. Which is Awesome!!!!???

Oh, at the end he goes “ Well I would go through the information for the Removal proceedings, but something tells me you already know all that” ! Shook my Hubbys had and Have a GOOD DAY!
